SprintGod's S3 video is good, but I hesitate to call him a God. There are flaws. In addition, S1 and S2 are considerably more infuriating to time attack because your time is so dependent on maintaining speed and finding the optimal path (especially in Sonic 1 ... at least S2 has a spindash). Furthermore, people are already working on the runs, though slowly.

well I dont hesitate for a second calling him God of sonic, and what errors/flaws are u refering to? and if u can maintain that sort of speed and near 100% accurate jumps, moves etc then be my guest and make a timeattack or speedrun on that game.

I won't be doing any more Megadrive runs until a decent Pause / Advance Frame key is implemented. That one feature would cut the time taken to make runs in half.

I think Jyzero wrote that advance frame option will be available in the next Gens movie test.

Maybe you should fix EH1 and CP1 first. Those are the only levels I am familiar with, so are the only ones I can say for sure can be done faster. Additionally, TSC has a much faster time listed for CP2, you should look into that.

well i havent had a chance to continue my speed run but i might think about looking back to chemical plant zone act 1 and 2 and see what i can do about that i think i know where the shortcut is for that lvl its at the start where you go down the long slope then i think you jump im pretty sure sonic can perform it as well but ill have to record that lvl at 3% so i can get everything right but i can easily catch up to Hill top act 2 again because i know all the shortcuts and know where to jump, but as for Chemical Plant Act 1 i almost got 22 but i think there are places where im not jumping properly to get the fastest speed possible 21 maybe be possible if it is a perfect run but i have my doubts anyone would get a perfect run through that lvl like when Xebra is attempting 24 for Green Hill Zone Act 1 i just think its suicide wasting time like that oh yeah i also might think about doing Emerald Hill Zone Act 1 try for 18 meaning i may restart my speed run again but never fear i can get up to where i left off pretty quickly :)

Sorry if this insults you in any way, but from now on could you please use some periods (.) so your text would actually be readable? Thanks.

The entire slashdot.org discussion boards or whatever they are is hard to understand, i couldnt get a glimpse of what was going on there, there are way more links than actual replies to the threads.

Revive, dammit! Reviiiiiiiive! >< Best I've managed on a normal run (-a- savestate, no frame advancing) is 22 seconds with Knuckles. And the only friggin' reason it isn't a second or so shorter is because Knuckles flies about twice as high as Sonic for some inane reason. It looks impressive, at least. x.x;

Okay, posting some info, somewhat for the sake of M.I. Hopefully someone will get this run done properly soon. The record times according to TSC are: Emerald Hill 1: 0:20 Emerald Hill 2: 0:38 Chemical Plant 1: 0:22 Chemical Plant 2: 0:53 Aquatic Ruin 1: 0:24 Aquatic Ruin 2: 0:43 Casino Night 1: 0:34 Casino Night 2: 1:05 Hill Top 1: 0:48 Hill Top 2: 1:03 Mystic Cave 1: 0:40 Mystic Cave 2: 0:49 Oil Ocean 1: 0:38 Oil Ocean 2: 0:59 Metropolis 1: 1:12 Metropolis 2: 1:30 Metropolis 3: 2:33 Wing Fortress: 1:56 Death Egg: 0:49 All of your times were slower except for Metropolis 3. For the Oil Ocean levels, more than a minute slower per level. A run which doesn't beat or match all of these times has pretty much zero chance of being published on this site. Any other takers for this game? Seems like there's a curse over it or something.

SprintGod said he wouldn't do another Sonic run until frame advance was installed in Gens. Now that Gens9c has it, I'd like to hear what he has to say.

A while ago I asked Sprint God if he had the 9c beta, and he already had it. So this doesn't change anything, probably. Or maybe he's already doing a Sonic2 in secrecy, who knows?

I recently started an attempt to speedrun Sonic 2. My current times: Emerald Hill 1: 0:19 Emerald Hill 2: 0:37 Chemical Plant 1: 0:20 Chemical Plant 2: 1:04 (the current 'record', 0:53, is from the start of the level to when the boss appears)

Time Divisions Time is counted until the timer stops. Usually this is when the egg capsule is broken or the end flag is hit, although it may apply to other events; for example, in Wing Fortress Zone, time stops when the screen fades.
Anyway, I wish you the best of luck. It's very nice to see this game get the attention it deserves again. Previews would be fun. Oh, and don't disappear mysteriously like everyone else has. :)

- Queitust, I don't believe your conjecture about CP2 is true. Look for a better path. - Kudos on the CP1 time, I always knew the 0"22 I acheived on a console was beatable. - Shoot for 0"18 on EH1. - Chao got 0"36 on EH2. - Shoot for at most 0"48 on DE. I've done 0"49 on a console and know it can be improved. Unfortunately those are the only levels I'm familiar with, so that's the only advice I can give.

I'll be honest, I screwed around in Debug mode for the better part of an hour and I have no idea what you could possibly do to cut ten seconds off. I managed to get squeezed into a wall (where the designers cleverly hid spikes to kill those who did) and kill myself on the egg capsule, as well as find an upper path that isn't going to cut time (it's slower)...

You're talking about CP2, right? I'm watching the video from TSS with knuckles, it finishes at 0:34. He uses the gliding move once to lose his upward vertical speed. Other than that I see nothing which Sonic wouldn't be able to perform. What am I missing? Is it the jump at the start which cannot be done by Sonic for some reason?
