there's no point, since there's already a run for the NES version.

I have no clue which game you are talking about. Is it this game? http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3321 P.S. Maybe qqwref really got Super Mario World and Super Mario 2 mixed up. P.P.S. This thread is over 2 years old.

Super Mario Advance is Super Mario Bros. 2 for the NES. Super Mario Advance 2 is Super Mario World. I do believe he got them mixed up.

No, I was talking about the remake of Super Mario World. I'm talking about game time, by the way, not video time. There's a lot of map movement in an optimal speedrun of SMW.

Its a remake of Super Mario World in SNES. The GBA version that allows to save anywhere in Super Mario World. The run that had a delays for setting up for Speed Run than the Snes version. Nobody had the Run for Super Mario World in GBA Version, but they like the Super Mario World in SNES Version because it takes less time to set up for Speed Run in SNES.

Hmm... I seem to agree. I would rather see TAS's of games on the original system.

The only remake worth doing is AlttP as the text scrolls faster, not sure about anything else though.

The resolution and sound in SNES LttP is better though. They did add a few cosmetic changes like Link yelling when he swings the sword and displaying dungeon names on entry. Also they simplified the Ice Palace puzzle. Other than that the main game is the same. There IS however a new dungeon in the pyramid with the dark world bosses that are extra hard plus a master boss. There is an NPC that blocks the way if you havent beaten Four Swords but Im sure he can be bypassed somehow (I was able to get around him by modifying the memory). You could probably use a bomb blast or something to get past him?

As were somewhat on the subject, if there was anyway it could be done I am sure that a four player Four Swords run would be one of the best runs on the Site. On topic, the only reason I can see to Super Mario World on the GBA is to do an all Yoshi Coins run, as the game keeps track of it and awards you with a little cutscene if you get them all. Luigi also has his flutter jump right?

River City Ransom EX. More moves, more hilarity, (potentially) more difficult, and an overpowered CPU helper that beats the frick out of things without remorse.

Would there be any interest in a run of Super Mario Advance (the remake of SMB2) that collects all the red coins? IIRC those coins weren't present in SMB2 and could make for interesting new routes. Sorry for the bump, but I don't like creating topics.

Wait, are you guys talking about SMA2 or SMA? If SMA, then here is a WIP of the first level, I might have to redo the birdo fight.

1000 posts for Laughing_Gas! I haven't watched your WIP yet, so idk if it includes this, but... Toad runs WAY faster with a POW block. For tips on anything in the game, ask me. I've TASed it (with a time of 12 minutes) and UASed it (18).

Hmm I didn't know that ... originally I tested both luigi and toad and it seems luigi is slightly faster because he can collect the last red coin without assistance from the bug thingy, but I'm not sure if this can make up for that. I'll wait until you watch it and give some more thoughts.

Why is the rerecord count 0? Run-wise, it looked OK. However, when climbing vines, it's best to press up+left, then hit A to jump upwards, going right to catch the vine again. Doing the same with left+right inverted is equally effective, of course. Also, the into is unoptimized - you need to get as close as possible to landing on the hill above where you land, without actually landing on it.

Shouldn't this be moved to another topic? This is the GBA SMW topic after all. ;>_> Btw, I wouldn't mind of seeing a run of either game that collected all coins... though, I think that SMA would be more interesting to watch.

I found an odd warping trick in SMA the other day. I was just playing casually, and in 3-2 I was playing a peach, and in the Birdo fight I picked up a mushroom block, jumped, and threw the block. The block zoomed along the ceiling where I had thrown it, then fell. I suspect I threw the block into the ceiling, which made it "zip" megaman-like. Any other thoughts?
