Thanks but its still not working even with the old windows media player.. But i don't think its a codec problem because im compressing them with the codec thats installed on my computer (XVid) is it somthing to do with Mupen itself? and yes i did read the FAQ and none of the problems im having
Let me guess... you have Windows Vista, right?
AVI recording in Vista doesn't work. Why? Because Vista is a synonym of "Shit". (I could have said it in more technical terms, but I figured this approach was better)

Those are connected in that they do not use window's API for creating the AVI header and such. Mupen does.
To fix the AVI, simply open it in the latest virtualdub (the experimental one), do Video --> Direct Stream Copy and Audio --> Direct Stream Copy, then go to file--> Save as AVI... then save a new one, problem solved, working AVI.

If the file you are trying to play does NOT work with Media Player Classic and ffdshow, then I am not sure what the problem is. Vista AVIs that are broken play with the latest MPC and ffdshow.
Might I suggest trying to create an AVI uncompressed (just get around 20secs worth). if the image is almost fine apart from some wrapping and the sound is a fuzzy mess it is indeed the Vista problem.

Well thanks for your help Raiscan, but it don't wana work... Vista just don't wana play Mupen AVI's , i tryed WMPC but nope then ffdshow but nope..
Oh and when i try Uncompressed it laggs Mupen and the AVI is still the same but the sounds messed up...

Umm I meant for you to install ffdshow, then try it in Media Player Classic.
Just to clarify you are using the right MPC, I'm on about this version right here.

Punk7890, clarify your process by telling us the details of what you're doing. In your posts, write the full names and version numbers of each program you are using. Write some system specifications and give some history behind your codec installation process. This will help us help you to figure out your problem. Before you do this, we are probably just as helpless as you are.

Also in addition to the above, if you could give screenshots of whats happening when you open the uncompressed avi in virtualdub and MPC that would be great. My website has a direct imageshack upload link for convenience.

Try uninstalling all codec packs and just using ffdshow. some codecs might be conflicting.
Also, failing that do you have any other emulators from this site with AVI capabilities? if so, try one of them. If they work (at least partially), it could be some sort of graphics driver issue.

I don't have any problems with codecs ... its just Mupen's recording features.
And yeah go figure i do have driver problems some times, i get it when im play like Goldeneye, Jet Force Gemini, Perfect dark or some High system requirement game.. it kinda pisses me off that its a new computer.... and i have a driver problem.. Oh and if i change the plug-in(Jabo's Direct3D8 makes the screen go black on the emulator) but when i use Jabo's Direct3D6 and when the message comes up(igfx has stoped working and has recovered) but the game don't go black it just drops to, around 20-30FPS on PJ64. Any ideas how to fix it without taking it back?
P.S its like this with all emulators

Its likely that the graphics chip you have just isn't up to the task for N64 emulation, but newer drivers might help. Failing that, theres probably an AGP slot you can occupy with a new card. Might want to check up on that first.

Okay I'm pulling straws here but heres the last few things I can think of:
1. Try playing the movies in VLC.
2. Try another plugin. Say, if you're using glN64 right now, try Rice's Video Plugin (Google for it)
3. Try another game?
If theres no joy from any of those, I'm sorry but I really don't know what the problem might be.
