Here we go, more famtasia problems.
I’ve reed all the posts that exist on Famtasia to find out what’s wrong. I have the patch (with all the “if you don’t know check yes”) I tried to set occupation to 1 (in the famtasia.ini) I have tried to change the speed, everything. But still when I open the famtasia.exe or famtasiapatched(something something).exe my mouse starts lagging like hell. Sometimes window freezes or the emu goes all grey. Any idea what to do? Maybe I should add that I’m going to do a 2 player vid.
Thanks for the help.

* Ensure you run Famtasia in the same directory your famtasia.ini is in.
* Ensure you have that famtasia.ini.
* Ensure your famtasia.ini has occupation=1. (Not any other number.)
* Ensure you use Famtasia unscaled (1x). 60 fps (the patched famtasia) requires 3 times more power than 20 fps (the normal famtasia), and scaling 2x requires 4 times more power than scaling 1x.

Tried it all, still the same problems. Can hardly move my mouse due to lag. Also the emu goes so slow (even in 999%) that it's impossible to do anything.
Maybe I should use another emu...

Check the display settings of Famtasia. (I don't remember which menu and which option and which exact words were written there.) There are various options you can choose from - select the most optimal for your system.

I can get it a bit better, but still it seems to only show every other second. And now when I quitted I got the typical “Windows has performed an illegal activity and will therefore be shutdown”.
Geez, I think I’ll just stick with Snes9x.

Okay, that used to happen to me, and I think the problem is that it likes to default to 768x720 in Config-Display-Option Size. When I choose 1x instead, it works fine. So you should choose that, and then if you want to scale the window, choose the size from Config-Display (and try not scaling it up until AFTER loading the game if it's still causing problems). I don't think I've gotten fullscreen to work on this computer yet, though, but I don't really need it for Famtasia right now because I like it better for FCEU anyway.
put yourself in my rocketpack if that poochie is one outrageous dude
I just find it a bit ridiculous that an NES emulator could require more than 200MHz, and even run like that on 1800+ my MHz. I usually just start the game, start the movie, then shrink the window to a really tiny size, then re-expand it to a reasonable size that I don't think will cause a massive amount of freezing and "speed adjusting."

So in other words, Famtasia sucks as a decent emulator. I see, now. . . *grins*
Seriously though. I can't get it to run at 60FPS no matter how hard I try. It always runs at 50FPS, and sometimes 30 or 20FPS. Playing movies, or playing games, it makes no difference. It's kind of irritating. And of course, I can't get it to run in anything but x1 windowed or 640x480 full screen, no matter what I do. This applies for both the official version and the patched version, mind you.
Edit: Scratch what I said about not being able to get into 60FPS. I got it. Just had to set the Occupation to 1. Oops. Emulator still doesn't impress me, though.
It doesn't really impress anyone :/ That's not saying that it doesn't work though. It is good enough to make most of the movies on this site, and runs ok. But lately lots of people have been switching to FCEU. (though you still need Famtaia to work in order to play the fmvs if you don't want to get the avi)

I think FCE Ultra is the best emulator out there, but even it has its software and emulation errors. For example. . . For some reason, it can't do the scrolling in the top-down stage of Wai Wai World properly. It also take a lot of power to run, for some odd reason. A FamiCom emulator should not require a 1,800 Mhz Pentium Processor with 386MB of RAM and a 32MB video card to run smoothly. Yet, if you want to play games at anything higher than 320 x 240, it takes that, and possibly more. But back on-topic here. . .
There are a few things that bug me about Famtasia. Firstly, the palette is inaccurate. This seems most noticable with Rockman and the Rockman series of games. Secondly, the sound chip, to the best of my knowledge, is not properly emulated either.(Again, I'm using Rockman as my basis, seeing as I'm a Rockman fanatic.) The video issue doesn't really bother me now, considering I can play it at full screen 320 x 240 mode with Joystick/pad support. It even runs at a full 50/60FPS(depending on the nationality of the ROM). All and all, I think I've warmed up to Famtasia, honestly, but I think I'll stick with FCE Ultra for sprite ripping and for playing most games.
