Well, if by favorite, I will count the music I like to listen to outside of the actual game, then it's a lot of tracks from Chrono Trigger and FF6, in no particular order. Those are hard to beat in terms of good music. On PC, let me name Diablo (hardly an RPG, but why not).

I have many, but some that come to mind which are already uploaded are: Final Fantasy 9 - Loss of Me Legend of Mana - City of Flickering Destruction Chrono Cross - Garden of Gods Final Fantasy 8 - The Landing Legend of Mana - The Darkness Nova Final Fantasy 7 - Still More Fighting Others which aren't RPGs include: Street Fighter 2V - Hadou Killer Instinct - The Instinct Castlevania: SotN - Lost Painting Silent Hill - Track 01 (dunno what it's called) Also, here's "Final Fantasy 3 - Terra" edited with only the flute and some other minor sounds playing, I think it sounds really good. Edit: fixed links.

I only listen to video game music, and most of the music I listen to happens to be from RPGs. I'll just list my favourites from each RPG which has a part in my playlist. FF7 - Fighting (would be Still More Fighting, but I can't find a copy that doesn't have this annoying stutter somewhere around the start) Terranigma - Dark Side Field FF4 - The Final Battle FF6 - Dancing Mad (part 3 of part 1) Secret of Mana - Spirit of the Night Seiken Densetsu 3 - Rolling Cradle (though that's mostly because in-game the tech attacks of Bill & Ben go perfectly with the music, if not for that it would be Meridian Child) Chrono Trigger - Singing Mountain Breath of Fire 2 - Twisted Bridge FF9 - Vamo'Alla Flamenco Tales of Phantasia - The Second Act (tough choice here actually, I also really like Raising a Curtain, Perverse Religion and Who is Good or Evil?) Tales of Symphona - Tethe'Alla Castle (also a tough choice here, I also really like many other tracks from this game, most notably It can waver and fight, Keen-edged blade, and Beat the angel) Rudra no Hihou - Between Two Worlds (again a mildly difficult choice, too tired to list other notables here) PSO - From seeing the rough wave (this one isn't on my playlist actually, but that's because I can't find a good copy of it)

Ignoreing the fact that nothing I mention will be an RPG, The bizzare metalish-techo-rock they play in the background of Contra:Shattared Soilder is amazing for what it adds to the the feel of the game. Also: Starcraft-- Terran theme Zelda: Link's awakening-- Mountain theme Sonic 3 (I think)-- Icecap zone

Hmm, there are many rpgs with good music. FF6, chrono trigger, super mario rpg and especially secret of mana has some really nice tracks. Can't recall their names though. Weird, because I rarely play rpgs ... only listen to the music.

Yeah RPGs have usually by far the best soundtracks of any games. I agree with moozooh that Chrono Trigger and FF6/3(US) have very good, if not the best soundtracks overall. From top of my mind, my single favourites are: - Chrono Trigger - Too Far Away Times (probably best) - Chrono Trigger - Forest Theme - Chrono Trigger - Ocean Palace - Chrono Trigger - Epilogue - Chrono Trigger - Magus Theme - Chrono Trigger - Belthasar Theme - Chrono Trigger - 1000 AD Theme (both, Towns and Field) - Chrono Trigger - Schala Theme - Terranigma - Underworld Theme - Terranigma - Sea Port Theme - Terranigma - Grecliff - Terranigma - Elles Theme - Terranigma - Crysta - FF6 - Phantom Forest - FF6 - Terras Theme - FF6 - Celes Theme - FF6 - Espers Theme - Secret Of Evermore - Hall Of Collosia (First/Main Part) - Secret Of Evermore - Puppet Show - Secret Of Evermore - Ending/Credits Theme - Secret Of Evermore - Queen Bluegarden Theme - Secret Of Evermore - Lonely Ebon Keep Theme - Secret Of Mana - Dark Continent - Secret Of Mana - Sorrow Theme - Secret Of Mana - Mana Field - Secret Of Mana - Flammies Theme - Seiken Densetsu 3 - Innocent Theme - Seiken Densetsu 3 - Sacrifice Part 3
