I'm sure I'll start TASing Commander Keen-series, starting from 4 (first one I had), once I know how and this new DOSBox is stable enough for that. And when I'm bored enough.

So is a version of DOS-Box with Re-recording, TAS tools, etc, looking possible? It's just with everyone mentioning all these games, I'm finding myself excitied but the thought of it not being feasable is heart breaking lol!

I've played the entire original trilogy, plus #4, but that's about it. How come more people don't know the original trilogy?

I wish Time Commando was on Dos. Other than that, I would run Magic Carpet Plus and Magic Carpet 2. Rebel Assault 1 and 2.

Okay, since TASing DOS games is pretty much a reality right now, what games do you think should be TASed first (or at least, not last)? I'd love to see a TAS of the following games: 1. Metal Mutant - this underrated game is great visually, it's not boring to watch even for those who haven't played it, and it's not repetitive. I'd love to see a TAS of it. 2. Fury of the Furries - an absolutely fantastic game which is hard to play and fun to watch. Unfortunately, it seems that there are some problems with emulating it via DOSbox (not sure, maybe it's just me). 3. Blackthorne - we have Another World, we have Flashback, why not this clone? The music is great, the game is not too repetitive and as far as clones go, this one is simply fantastic. 4. Wolfstein 3D & Spear Of Destiny - no need to comment, I guess... 5. Commander Keen series - it's pretty linear, but it's fun to watch. I wonder what kind of shortcuts could be found to make TASing these games better... 6. Dangerous Dave series - see point 5, but it's more interesting and tactically challenging, IMO 7. Supaplex - a TAS of the best Boulderdash clone ever should be CRAZY. 8. Micro Machines - why no TAS of this game? It's on the consoles, and I think it will be very watchable. 9. Crusader: No Remorse - simply interesting to play and watch. 10. Montezuma's Revenge - a port of a classic game. Not sure if anyone will enjoy it, but I think this game is great, especially for a classic. 11. TES: Daggerfall - for the game that has territory compared to real life Britain, it can be finished pretty quick... the question is - how quick? 12. Eye of the Beholder series - classic hack'n'slash RPG, visually stunning in its day. 13. Shadowcaster - hybrid of linear RPG and FPS, innovative and interesting. 14. System Shock 1 & 2 - no need to explain this one... 15. Dungeon Keeper (Gold) - this unique game definitely has a lot to offer both for TASing and viewing the result. 16. Syndicate - nuff said... Games which probably aren't the best choice of TASing: 1. Cannon Fodder - with its tiny soldiers, a TAS of this game will simply be incomprehensible, I'm afraid. 2. RTS games such as Dune 2, Warcraft, C&C - Well, they're hard to TAS since there are so many strategies (which makes TASing them interesing), but I'm not sure whether they will be fun to watch. OTOH, a lot of people played the aformentioned games, so this will make TASes more welcome. 3. Covert Action - fantastic game, but simply too long and probably impossible to finish in any realistic amount of time (I mean, capturing all 26 masterminds?) Your thoughts? slow'n'boring~

works fine with non-rerecording dosbox

no "super laps" after 10th level or so, so the rest would be boring, see http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4002

long and not worth it
16. Syndicate - nuff said...
same here I think I don't think we need this topic. http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5270 browse forum once in a while, there are many topics that you are unaware of~

SNES' Blackthorne is censored and is possibly emulated darker than it should be. Syndicate Wars (I assume Kay meant wars) makes SNES' Syndicate look like Pong. That's my... one cent. I already gave my other cent on the other DOS game idea thread.

Dune II apparently "formed the RTS genre". I know nothing about it, but if it's an RTS... I think an RTS TAS for DOS would be fun to make (and funner to say).

Aqfaq (I think) tried doing the Dune II on the mega drive, there are still a couple of WIPs in the thread. If you're interested, take a look at those.

I remember playing some version of Warcraft that had a bunch of short missions and then a mission which you're not supposed to be able to win (either that or I really, really sucked at it). You get swarmed by orcs immediately as you hopelessly try to defend a town. Perhaps this was the demo of Warcraft? I don't know. Either way, a TAS of that would be very interesting.

RTS games have many long missions usually, you have to build base and only then move out... One mission run is understandable, but whole campaign is not something I'd watch.

I tried a NES Micromachine TAS. That got boring very quickly. Syndicate Plus would be a smashing run I think. Crusader would be interesting, what with all the explosions. Most of the Apogee games would be good (As most people have played them). Duke Nukem, Crystal Caves, Secret Agent, Monster Bash, Hocus Pocus, ect. The Ultima games anyone? (VIII) Maybe i'll do a Night Shift run :O

Actually, typing has been suggested. Even typing out the FAQ for tasvideos.org really fast. I imagine that once there's mouse control, the runs would go much faster due to copying and pasting some words.

I dunno if it's been suggested by myself or anyone else because I cannot be buggered to look through the thread, but I'm suggesting X-Com and Terror From the Deep. If anyone can get through either without the effin' things CRASHING constantly -.-

I played X-Com UFO a lot on dosbox, and don't remember it ever crashing.

Perhaps a Doom TAS would be nice? TAS' for both have been released (using prBoom) but perhaps we can improve them? http://www.geocities.com/e6y/doom.html

It's legal, though; the site only hosts abandonware.

MDK would actually make a pretty good run. I still have my CD.
