For a GBA game, this seem to be a potential good tas so please continue :)

Are you sure you used save states for that run? It's nowhere near optimized and much sloppier than Hirano's vid. http://wrvids.com/Mario%20Kart/MKSC/Hirano%20(emulator,%20maybe%20tas)/pc-ticking-4293-Hirano.mpg

If you're familiar with NBT in SMK, be aware that MKSC has something pretty similar, and make sure to use it.

that previous run was crap, i improved my new one, and finished all 3 laps. Anyway, i know about NBT mike89, people on the mksc players page call it zzmting for mksc though. In the crappier run i used it alot, but in my new run I basically just run at ticking speed the whole time (and 1 ZZMT every lap) here is the new run: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/5034/mksc%20tas.vbm

Much better. So are there any known shortcuts or is it a straight forward game?

theres plenty of shortcuts in super circuit, and i plan on using every one of them to my advantage, just some of the courses dont have any shortcuts, so some will be straight forward.

Still hard to tell that it's a TAS. There are a few good parts now, but plenty of obvious mistakes.

Its much better to list the "obvious" mistakes rather than saying it has plenty of flaws.

I already told Karterfreak some of the mistakes on AIM. I'm too busy now to type up a detailed list, but it doesn't take an MKSC expert to see that it's a bad TAS. Basically it's just lots of wide turns and too many adjustments on straights.

Forget the run, i have to learn more about the physics of the game before i can make a fully optimized tas of it. I when ive reached the top 3 or so in real time competition ill probably come back to this. PS: im ranked 7'th at this time

I look at the list of ideas of TAS and found this. Try a small TAS of 1 lap, and finished in the frame 2636. Here is the movie. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/155746085/mmarks-mariokartsupercircuit.vbm I will keep doing this until the end and also saw a TAS of this game by Gensito (which was rejected by the audience) that was good but would be nice to be fast and not take damage because it not saves time, one vote gave meh. Enjoy

Is he going to submit those? They would make a great addition to the site.

These TASes have been around for a while. While they'd be nice on TASvideos, there are known timesavers that aren't used in the non-spin TAS, which might get it some no votes. Would be a meh from me, but that's just because I know the amount of effort put into making racing game TASes.

Maybe he could submit only the Spin TAS as a "glitched" category? Or does the fact that most levels are technically skipped by spinning out detract from the entertainment value? The Spin TAS looks pretty optimized from my point of view. I noticed he used strategies like longboosting which he used in his Super Mario Kart TAS.

We'll take the save file created by a rejected run in the gruefood delight, we start recording from there. We need 100 coins in each cup, and get a 3-star rank in each cup, and do all 20 extra courses. Coins don't matter on the extra courses, but a 3-star rank does.

This is the submission that got sent to the grue. It syncs with vba-rr v17. The save conversion to BizHawk be renaming the file and changing the extension to .saveram works as it's the same file size (64 KB). This is required in order to do 100%. You have to get all gold on 150cc before the extra courses. In which, they can only be unlocked by doing two playthroughs. The run that got rejected did the first playthrough, as a new run that uses the save made with said run means it's not dirty SRAM and it is a verification movie. Similarly, the "You vs. Boo" run of Super Mario Bros. Deluxe uses a save from the initially rejected warpless run of said game.

- Get at least 10 coins - Get mushrooms about every time - Steal a star when possible - Get a 3 star rank in all the cups - Complete all retro courses also

With permission from the original author, iMathII, I have uploaded his All Cups (Skips) TAS to userfiles, for the sake of preservation. User movie #638603404778663532 The only thing preventing this from being submitted is the save file. It seems to have everything unlocked with cheats. Probably the only way to solve this issue is making a verification file that unlocks all SNES tracks in 150cc from a fresh new save. Then resync the movie again with said new save file. It may take a while to do this... If anyone else wants to help out (or make the verification movie themselves), please let us know.

Thank you, dekutony, for preserving this run. TAS preservation has been a real problem with this game. iMathII's TAS is more polished than anything we've seen before, and I'm glad a submission is forthcoming, as soon as the verification is sorted out... So here's a verification file that completes the 150cc GBA cups twice to unlock the SNES cups, then the 150cc SNES cups twice to be able to skip their awards ceremony cutscenes. Two of the completions are iMathII's inputs, and the others are my sloppy 100-coin playthroughs to satisfy that requirement. Here's iMathII's TAS, synced to the SRAM created by the verification movie. 2 frames were lost during sync, which might be because of my save data (it was 1 frame during each of the two cups with C ranks), but I'm not sure as I didn't test it. I also trimmed a blank frame off the end, and reset 135fr earlier since there's no need to save the game there (everything is already unlocked). Similar to the last race in each cup of MK64, I showed the Special Cup times and rank for just a few frames. A resync that keeps those extra 135 frames is available here. Both versions of the iMathII .bk2 include iMathII's subtitles, condensed to be readable while watching the run, especially for slower/ESL readers. I wasn't able to fit the many extra notes from the credits sequence, but they can be included in the submission text. iMathII, thanks for doing this run, and for your work on MKDS too! Glad to have you in the TAS community! As a bonus, here's half of the TAS starting from power-on/a clean save and only doing the 150cc GBA cups, with cutscenes not yet skippable.
