Sry, but you got me wrong, it is not about avoiding the explosion animation but about skipping the time to cross the tube. Know what I mean?

I did some testing on continueing (sp) my run, and thought of this very very small timesaver: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/4742/chargewalljump.smv After collecting the charge mean. Could it be any faster? In use in other places?

Hero: I just tested your drainer-charge smv, and the PB-wave doesn't reach the drainer, even if you don't jump to get it offscreen. The reason it still gets killed is because, as you surely knew, the PB has a double damage possibility. The problem is, once the first wave destroys the drainers block, which is hiding him before, he immediately jumps up after being free, and those runs in to the 2nd wave which kills him. If you get it offscreen, he won't jump, those staying alive. You can test laying the PB a bit lower, so that the first PB-wave already kills him together with his block, and if it does, it doesn't matter how much you will jump up before the wave to get him offscreen. He gets killed in any way. Tonski: Your Charge Walljump tech looks cool, but it's definitely slower than what Hero did in his any%. Compare yourself. Also use the turbo button for arm pumping to get maximum speed-gain. You use it manually and those far less effective than with turbo.

Today someone posted a new glitched route that completed the game very quickly with only 13% of the items. This route uses the x-ray glitch to gain access to tourian early. It looks incredibly ugly, but maybe this game needs a glitch run similar to the runs for zelda 2, 3, and 4. You can see the run here I have gone ahead and modified the route, and I am sure that I can complete the game with only 10% of the items using the same techniques. my route

Use the European ROM. He used Crystal Flash in the point where you got stuck and couldn't progress further.

Actually I have no idea how it works, no one does except the guy who found it. His English is horrible and he almost refuses to explain how the save system allows him to skip right to the escape sequence. evilchen, if you could watch the movie and explain it to me, it would be appreciated. Or if you can reproduce the glitch, I would love to see you work on doing the run. I know you have the necessary skills to do it. I can help you along the way too. If someone found a way to glitch into tourian without the crystal flash, it would make this into a 6% run. This would truly be the lowest percentage possible, even lower than the time/space beam glitch.

Is it just the (E) version in which you can completly skip the first miniboss by exiting the room before the battle begin ?

Yes. Though it might be possible to skip it on the (U) version, no-one so far has succeeded in that.

well i think i can reproduce that when i get stuck in the door standing(thats not quite easy) the rest is about finding the trigger(easy, i found that endscene trigger sometimes in other rooms too with the space/time beam) ive tried to get stuck in that door now for about 40 mins, iam retrying it tomorrow :x its allready late now! edit: sure this guy is a genius saturn ;) its kejadorn.. with a aprilsjoke :D! that was really tricky, the movie is reproduceable he said, but its more harder to get stuck in that freaky door in motherbrains room on NTSC, even with his small tip how to i cant get it.. my patients runs out on this at the moment! can anyone try it :/?

Thanks a lot Jaysmad, this just adds my will to see this movie more and more. :D Too bad there are some obstacles on the way. I hope I could see it ASAP.

whoops. I forgot to mention the last step I used for NTSC, sorry. If you do what I said in the topic, you'll end up in front of the door, not inside of it. You have to hold down in the next room to change Samus's hitbox and manage to fit in the door. Doors facing left close 2 frames faster (I haven't pinned down *why* that happens though), so it's significantly harder to manage to land in them correctly. >_< You have to aim down and land on the bottom block of the door while it's closing in order to be standing - I don't think you can get *in* the bottom block before it becomes solid.

That's a script action; no damage. ... it just dawned on me I know way too much about SM.
It took THAT to make you realize?

nicely done evilchen. I see samus only takes 4 hits to the rinkas in that test of yours, which is good because she will not have any energy tanks in a real run. Surely less hits is possible too. 2 hits is the most samus can take, with only the power suit. If you have time, you should also try to see if you can get past the ceiling in the statue room without the crystal flash. I have been trying lots of different ways, but with no luck. I still feel like it might be possible though.

well yeah maybe you can kill some of the flying 'O's i didnt mind because i had enough energy if you are fast enough to climb off the door you can shoot them without opening the door and i guess there is no way arround the celling without the crystal flash :(! but thats not the matter i guess.. is it possible to cause the memory in that state which kej had when he entered the title screen via suiciding? i guess it is but i have no skills or ideas in luck/memory manipulation! btw hero are you allready at the celling point with a real tas?;) edit:i found only 2 access areas to exit this room the one which brings u back, and the one which crushes the game with a black frozen screen, i guess this frozen screen will be the ending scene if i had the same memory state like kej in his version :/

With all this amazing NBMB-low% Kej gave us with april fools, I played my little TAS forward if anyone's interested. This time climbing red brinstar, pbs, crossing the missile lake (argh that was annoying!) and Phantoon. Only 3 rounded that thing, I really suck at the strutter walking and that way of killin Phantoon. :( Here's smv. Part 2 is in 2 sub-parts. :D http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/4792/TASpart2.smv http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/4793/TASpart2-2.smv Saturn did you continue your RBO? :)

Why does the door stay open in the 1st Torizo battle? It seemed so easily done.

it closes after a fixed amount on frames. Since the PAL-Version runs at 50 Hz, that amounts to a bit more real-time than on NTSC, which is just enough to escape before it closes. IIRC someone posted here that it's possible to get stuck in the door on NTSC while it closes, but nobody managed to get through.

All of us have tried many many many times to get out of the Torizo room on the NTSC rom. Obviously none of us have succeeded. evilchen: kejardon posted that a 9% run was possible, but it required fighting all the bosses. Therefore I will not make a run using 10% because it would not be the lowest possible. I also have no intention of doing a 9% run, because the run would be well over an hour long. The only way I will do the run, is if the crystal flash can be skipped.
