I decided to re encode the WIP using H264.... why I ever used xVid exclusively I'll never know. It's good to use superior codecs. don't know how it is on your end juggling 4 projects, but here's a few thoughts I've had since last posting: the 100% goal should be removed, because clearly, that is not going to happen, the monster density is just too much in future levels, even for TASing. The good part about mupen is that you can change the description, and change it back if 100% kills is possible. Definitely don't shoot the dragon's head first. Get all of his body segments, then shoot the head. Do reflect back boss projectiles. more damage, and it just looks really cool. and if a reflected projectile does hit a passing minion, so much the better. In very slow encoding mode I noticed more than just 1 tree that was missed... I'm pretty sure once or twice you even made a bunch of shots against a tree, then passed by it. For others, you ran right by them. For the trees you can't swipe with the sword, be sure to shoot them before you get to them.

Level 1 DONE! The boss was quickly dispatched, since the monster density is too much and spaced too far apart to be efficient kills. I also shot its armour/scales off since the dragon moves much too fast sometimes, and I figured that since I'm trying to get as many points as possible, might as well "accidentally" shoot some scales while I'm at it. Input/feedback would be greatly appreciated. =]

That movie looks great so far! I can't wait to see a full TAS of it (me being a major S&P fan..)....:)

Snakes on a Plane lvl 1 AVI for some reason, H264 is incredibly friendly to me for this game. Some other N64/SNES movies I encode easily have audio desynch, but not for S+P. hm. lvl 2 is gonna be hell to hit everything.... when I was trying the bird section, it should be no different from the first level where beetles are flying in from one side, you just need to in frame advance keep an imaginary line and shoot the next bird that's coming towards it. what will be hard is keeping it in the left upper corner for when the cockroach things come over the wall. I'll try a little more with TASing the bird segment, but I can't guarantee good results since I still need to re familiarize myself with TASing it.

I am very pleased I helped inspire this much of a stir for this game. I remember it being pretty killer and look forward to seeing what's done with it in the speedrun(s).

I just played this on the virtual console and It would make a damn fine game to TAS. Like Star Fox for maximum score perhaps?

Is nobody here? According to this site (this site was made one of player who reach score hundred million on non tool-assisted, but now 404), calculation of attack point per shot (or sword attack) is this: (Number of Hit + Rest of Time + Player's LIFE ) * Damage of attack I'm sure this formula, and because this, if you aim for maximum score, you should beat enemy as fast as possible, but that bored for me. Can someone offer tricks for entertaining? I worked on this game, but I had some problem in 0-0, this is main reason of my giving up this game's TASing, and reason of I can't see meeper's WIP with m64 file. And I can't kill all enemy after Ladan fight. OK, I'm prossesing my old WIP (that's far from perfect :P) now. EDIT: Now I finished. AVI file is here. m64 file is here, but it should desync. (don't care about movie settings, I tried many settings I could.) When you see, It is obvious that view of player seems to be far.
It is obvious what I want to say is, so that is enough.

That was nice except for the bosses, it's boring as hell to watch the player ignore the boss and shoot random targets.

Your .m64 desynched right at the very beginning, by not entering the normal mode. Instead, easy mode is entered. You shouldn't be experiencing desynchs like that, and one that early on should have been fixed. If you want, you can use meepers' or my .m64, both of which synch to get into the first level, and you can start from there, because a .m64 that desynchs that early will never be published. You said above that a higher score is gotten from a boss the more time you have left. So why not do what meepers did, and kill the boss as fast as possible, and killing all stray enemies, rather than waiting a very long time to kill the boss? it will probably be more interesting, net in a higher score, and be faster all around. Overall, it looked good except for the things that I mentioned. I encourage you to either use hex editing to fix the desynch, start over again ensuring it synchs, and using my suggestions with the boss. I believe this game is of high TAS quality, but unfortunately it will not get onto the site as it is for two reasons; One, it doesn't synch, and Two, it has unclear goals and wastes time at the bosses. I am, however very impressed with the 2nd level. The way you handled the bird ruffians and the crab ruffians +crab boss was genius, I didn't think it was possible to never miss any of them like that.

KDR_11k, I thought It's part much boring, but It's nessesary part of aims for maximum score. Comicalflop, I can't play your and meepee's WIPs. They desynced before entering game play :( So, I described system of score per shot above. That means Hit number is very important for score, and TIME and Player's LIFE are not important for score. Highest value of LIFE is 100, and of TIME is 99, but that of Hit number is nothing. You should gain the number of Hits. It works not only Shot Bonus but also Commander Bonus. Here is CB strateges: CB = (TIME + Player's LIFE + Hits) * 100 and the end of each stages, you get Central CB: Total of Central CB = (TIME + Player's LIFE + Hits) * 1000 (also, the end of game, earth protecting bonus's pop-up comes. that is Earth LIFE * 100 + perfect protection bonus: 5000000. not related hits.) ...CB is small score compared with all of shot bonus, but if you aim "perfect", you should consider this part. You might seem that TIME wasting Hitting is low score and lazy method at begining of game, but it's method of highest score in total, I hope now you know. It was my mistake to say you should beat enemy as fast as possible. That is for weak enemies. about enemies that player can't kill one shot including bosses, It's wrong. If gaining of Hits were higher than Time losses, you should wait to attack that enemies (ex. tree of 0-0), you should attack after Hit number gained. Its score might be higher than no-waiting attack. now I'm glad to hear about bird and grab section. It's one of my purpose of this WIP, and about 2-2... It's may be hard work but more entertaining both of TASer and Viewer :) I think I will make test-run "as fast as possible with entertaining" when desync problem is solved. (In Mupen64plus, that's not happened.) hmm, it may solve with Linux on my computer? now I'm seeking to do. EDIT: OK, now It's running properly on windows. I'm going to make TAS of 0-0.

This game is straight up hilarious. I downloaded it on VC, played it, watched the TAS, read gamefaqs and STILL have no idea what the fuck is going on XD Anyways, looked entertaining to me.

I'm afraid I must agree with this. While I see you're going for the 100% kills concept, it can be boring watching you kill every other target except for the boss lingering right in front of your face. I mean, 100% kills otherwise is extremely entertaining, but during boss fights -- not so much. At this rate, how will the final boss fight go? Either way, I was entertained, but just thought I'd echo this concern.

sorry, I avoid TASing for a long time. I'll show you a m64 file. This movie is a Test run, too short (ended before club seemer). If you have any idea for TASing this game, please tell me and I will improve that :) In addition to, Avoiding bosses is not cool, so I wil not avoid bosses for increaseing hit numbers after this movie.

I've done at stages 2. It has no goals but I hope it will help other player of this game. I'll wait that mupen64plus development finish because playing S'n'P with mupen64 has some issues.

Is anyone here? ;) I played S&P 2, but it was too long, less interesting enemies, and not well leveled than S&P 1... (However it was good game than today's sleepy game.) When does TAS of this game come? you can do it! >w<

Talk about a necro-bump! I am eager to see you continue this game. It will make a great TAS. I hope you encode your run, because otherwise I cannot watch it ;P
