Why has no one done a speed run of this game yet?! This was my favorite NES game as a child, and it is a perfect candidate for a run (side scrolling skateboarding game, jumps, obstacles, bosses, surfing) because using TAS methods, a perfect run could be created in each level. There are even warps throughout the game that could be exploited. Please, someone do a speed run of this awesome game (so I can see that long awaited perfect completion of this game!!!). E-mail me at bribrijinx@hotmail.com if you have any suggestions.

hum try to make it yourself ? Post a WIP of your work ? And then someone might get interested, and you might even discover the wonderful world of TASing. PS : it's not a speed run but a TAS run. Speed run usually refer to real-time playing, and TAS refer to Tool-assisted video.

I don't know the game but somehow I don't think "side-scrolling" and "a perfect candidate for a run" should be in the same sentence.

side-scrolling games are bad examples of a perfect candidate for a run

TAS refers to "tool-assisted speedrun". "TAS run" means "tool-assisted speedrun run". But my point is, when a person talks about a TAS on a TAS site and refers to it as a speedrun, why does it have to come down to nitpicking?

Side-scrolling != auto-scrolling. SMB is side-scrolling, just so you know.

1, I've never heard of the game before but I think I hate the game just based on the name. 2, if you're too lazy to check back on the thread, don't expect anyone to email you about it.

Oh, right, my bad. I'll rephrase: I don't know the game but somehow I don't think "skateboarding game" and "a perfect candidate for a run" should be in the same sentence.

damn, my bad...let me rephrase my entire post haha Thrilla's Safari is not a side-scrolling game, but rather a "lateral-progression" game...the motion isn't fixed or anything, I just meant it's a game where you progress forward on a course while jumping over gaps and dodging obstacles. I didn't mean to confuse anyone by referring to it as a "speed run," when of course I meant TAS run. It really is worth a play (for those of you who haven't heard of it) I know, "Thrilla's Safari" is a pretty crappy title, but believe me, it is an outstanding NES game. I would be open to the idea of TAS'ing it myself, I just need to download a reliable recording application. Any suggestions? Also, if you give it a whirl, let me know if anyone is willing to perform a TAS run of it. Thanks!

Please remove the link to ROM, it's forbidden here. >_>

Uh-oh... you just broke the rules of the forum by posting a rom link... And anyway, why not try making the TAS yourself. You sound to know the game quite well, and if it really is one of your favourite childhood games, this TAS project should be pretty enjoyable for you. Like what ZeXr0 said, you could post your WIPs here and we will all be more than happy to give you comments

Also, your "reliable recording application" is an emulator called FCEU. It's all there in the FAQ.

I agree with this sentiment, and would give it a bit of a shot myself if I had time.

moozooh, no offence, but that's why I refered to speedrun and Tool-assisted speedrun. Just to make a clear distinction for those who are new to the forum. (post count =1)

You know, I would imply that a person who writes "using TAS methods, a perfect run could be created in each level", assuming they're sane, at least understands what "TAS methods" are. However, it doesn't automatically imply they would know what particular tools we use to TAS.

Well, the "TAS methods" I used were save-states/rerecord and slowdown (50% speed, with a hint of 25%). Here's your (incomplete) TAS! I hope this is boring enough for you. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/4647/tandc2-captainobvious.fcm If you REALLY want me to, I'll continue this WIP, and maybe worry a bit more about style the second time through. I'm still not convinced that this game will be worth watching, however.

I also tried to do this TAS, but gave up after watching it the first time through. It's fairly boring. Any way, I decided to work on it about a week ago, and this is all that I bothered to come up with: http://parasyte.kodewerx.net/stuff/tandc2-parasyte.zip Try to "enjoy" ...

Been thinking about starting a run on these games. Looking for ideas and some input about whether or not they would be good games for tas. Also any known glitches and runs of them would be great. So far I have not seen any videos on the site. Thanks in advance! Also, I will more then likely need help editing them once the runs are done. EDITED BY A MODERATOR: Made this thread to be about Town & Country II: Thrilla's Surfari instead of two different games. So, talk about Town & Country II: Thrilla's Surfari here.

Hi! There is a search box on the front page of the site. You have to remember to include submissions too (there's a checkbox after you search the first time) , otherwise you won't find everything. We have a run for Toki, but for Genesis. Neofix has made a run for NES, which was deemed not good enough: http://tasvideos.org/537S.html You can find an encode on Youtube. Perhaps it can be made more interesting with better playing. I hadn't seen Thrillas Surfari, but maybe it could work as a TAS, like if it's possible to get to a higher speed than you normally would. Excite bike style!

Yeah, I saw neofixes run it was very str8 forward but im sure it could be done faster and glitchier. As for thrillas surfari I know left+right or up+down has no visible effect on anything but im sure excitebikes tricks could hold some use with this. I actually got tired of messing with it and tried predator out. Let it be known tas+ predator= boring. Despite its level skip glitches

So, is this topic about Toki or Thrilla's Surfari? It can't be both.

Toki is a boring game. Try Going Ape Spit instead. That movie is very improvable
