"Genuine self-esteem, however, consists not of causeless feelings, but of certain knowledge about yourself. It rests on the conviction that you — by your choices, effort and actions — have made yourself into the kind of person able to deal with reality. It is the conviction — based on the evidence of your own volitional functioning — that you are fundamentally able to succeed in life and, therefore, are deserving of that success." - Onkar Ghate

I guess I've found the most disgusting (yet perfectly legal to transmit publicly) shit ever. Thank you, YouTube. Eye surgery #1; Eye surgery #2.

#1 seems to be (approximately) the same as what was done to me. I didn't watch #2. I agree it looks very unsettling, but in fact, it's not a big deal when it actually happens. I can only be astonished at the doctors, how they can do it, knowing the huge pressure they must feel of the success of the procedure. I don't regret at all going there. It's been two years since the procedure (first mentioned here) and although my sight is still not as good as some people have naturally, it's way above needing glasses. Yes, you're conscious throughout the procedure. The only pain medication is the eyedrops they put on the eye. It doesn't hurt, but you do feel the parts that prevent the eye from closing.

Update: Just as I thought there wouldn't be anything "better" than that… Eye surgery performed incorrectly. (Not to discourage people who are going to undergo a similar operation, but this vid kinda shows how cautious one should be while choosing the clinic.)

I'm a long-time Transformers fan. Looooong time. To me, this is one of the funniest things I've ever seen on YouTube. The Rude Awakening of Optimus Prime http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bq1_6D9QS9Y

I could bet you 100 euros that if I interviewed say 200 people on the streets of Finland, NO ONE would say that a triangle has 4 sides or that France is its own continent. Not even by accident.

No way. He probably had to get a thousand interviews to find people that stupid. Also he is in the south where they don't have education. But seriously I could walk around and ask a hundred people those questions I would never get answers like that.

One thing that bugs me: when he asks people what country should be invaded, and then shows a map, how come everyone always chooses the country that's been put wrongly where Australia should be? the map is there already...

It's a Australian comedy show so he's cherry-picking the responses that will get the biggest laughs. I'm sure he met at least one person with a fundamental grasp of world geography but that doesn't make for good television.
