Dracula X rondo of blood is getting a new remake which includes:
3d version of the game
original version of the game
and just as a minor bonus, Simphony of the Night comes with it.
The bad news is it's for PSP...

It's kind of sad that I want to buy a PSP only for games I already own, but if they keep making and remaking my favorite games on other platforms, I really do need the console even just for the portability and homebrew.

Wtf leave the game alone. It was perfectly fine as it was and PSP gives me another reason to not get it. I'll stick with PCE emu.
It does come with the original game you know. Having both Dracula X games portable is worth buying it again. Then again I already own X2 twice and all the games for PSP that I want I already own at least once..

I don't get it. If a game is a port it's somehow worse than an original? Why would that be?
Believe it or not, there are people out there (like me) who have not played GBA games. Even if a game is a port from another platform, it's still a new game to me.
And I happen to like the size of the PSP screen.

It's not worse. I'm just saying that every single PSP game I'm interested in, I already own on some other platform. That is, there are no PSP-exclusive games that I want to play right now. This is not true for the DS.

I don't really like the DS except for certain games. The DS Lite is better by about 10,000x bu the system could be a lot better. We're only recently seeing good games for it, so I'm still hopeful for the future, but right now I like it only for a few certain games and for some features it shares with the PSP (namely, wireless internet play). But the major reason I like the DS more than the PSP is that the DS has games I don't already own on it that I want to play. Eventually, once the price drops on the Ceramic White, I'll buy a PSP and all the games for it that I already own (like Gradius, Salamander, Parodius, Rockman, Rockman X, Dracula X, FFT, Disgaea, etc) but until then I'm satisfied with games like Rockman ZX, Ouendan, Portrait of Ruin, Hotel Dusk, etc.

there is a GBA emu for the PSP, so I don't see why a DS would be needed.
even the N64 games can be played, and recently Sony upgraded the latest firmware to let their portable console PS1 retro-compatible.

I've tried PSP's SNES emulator, tried adjusting its settings. No matter what, it's slow. Nowhere near 60 FPS without the screen turning into unintelligible mess (so it's either too slow or too blurry). If it's the same with GBA and N64, then please no.

I've seen reports of people using Capcom games to play (almost) any PSX game by using ISOs and homebrew apps so they load the emulator and then a different game than expected, but there's no place to put a CD so I don't see how Sony could make an official one.

you can buy ISOs online with a PS3 (when it's out :x ).
there are tools to convert your own ISOs into the appropriate format.
as for speed issues, I don't know for N64, but I had no problem with SNES emulation, but yeah it's mostly homebrews, and downgrading is illegal to begin with ; but we all know that emulation is, roms are...

I don't see why anyone would want to play PS1 games on a PSP when they can play them on a PS1/2/3. With a bigger screen, better sound and everything. Yes, I know the PSP is portable, and that does count for something, but .... meh.
As for emulation, don't you think it's kind of ironic that one of the best "features" of the PSP is that you can play Nintendo games on it. I for one think so.
Don't get me wrong, I think the PSP is a pretty cool gadget with a sweet ass screen, but I just would rather get a DS lite for handheld gaming. Actually I already did that. :D

There's no need to downgrade. The tiff bug exploit has been upgraded to work with all firmwares from 2.0 to 2.71. This means that you can run homebrew without touching your firmware. Works for me.
(OTOH, snes emulation *is* slow. I get something like 5 fps. Doesn't make too much sense when I can play the same games emulated in my PC at full speed.)

Fair enough, although I don't think there are that many people that own PS1 games and a PSP, but no PS1/2/3. But I think the point is that the PSP is mobile, so meh.

I think I've read somewhere that we can play GBA games on... computers too! it's a fantastic inovation.

But if it would be possible to play PS1 games on the PSP (I don't understand how it could be, but assuming), then perhaps some PSP owners could buy PS1 games.
