Recently, there has been a boom in hack discussion, which has brought to my attention that every console category on the front page has a forum, except for hacks/concept demos.
There seems to be more than enough interest to justify a forum for hacks. This would not only be a good place to discuss and/or TAS hacks, but also to petition Bisqwit for their site-acceptance.
Concept demos also don't have a forum, but since there is still a general lack of understanding about what a concept demo is, compounded by a general lack of interest in concept demos, I'm not sure if a forum would be justified.

Hack is not a console category. SDW is a SNES game, for example.
I disagree with moving hacks from all the different consoles into one forum just because they're hacks. Seems completely counterintuitive to me.

"Not a real game speedruns" section :D for both "not a real games")hacks) and "not a real speedruns"(concept demos)
EDIT: I think forum is needed, but should it really be in console section?..
Well, the hack forum could have a subforum for each console.
Alternately, each console forum could have a subforum for hacks. (this option makes more sense to me)

I would prefer to keep the number of forums minimal that still is functional, so as not to make the forum forum front page more complex than it already is.

I don't like idea of having more subforums than hacks we have :D There is "Games" forum, not "Consoles" like I thought, so "Hacks" can fit there, but not Concept demos...
So what is it you're proposing?
New forum for all hacks?
New forum for hacks with 5 (or whatever) subforums, one for each console?
Adding hack subforums to each console forum?
Something else?
Perhaps the string "(HACK)" could be added to each thread subject that is about a hack, even if the word hack is already in the subject. This way, people could see the threads which are hacks, even if they don't want to read the thread they are clicking on!

I propose that we address the problem that there is no place on these forums to discuss hacks. Included with this proposal are three possible implementations. I would like to encourage discussion and idea contribution.

I think it works perfectly the way it does. It's not like the console forums are so super-busy that having the extra 5 hack topics in them stifles traffic to the non-hacked game thread or make the forums so cluttered they're unreadable, etc.
Edit: I don't actually know what stifle means. Fill in the correct word yourselves.

Let's put it this way.
Currently, where on the forum would you petition for a hack to be accepted to the site?
If anywhere, it would have to be in the forum for console games that the hack belongs to (EG: GBA, Genesis, SNES), right?
But if you want to attract administrator attention to the fact that you're asking for the hack to be accepted, you have to use valuable subject space to indicate that it's a hack you'd like to see published.
Whereas if there were a hacks forum, all you would have to do is post a thread about the hack, and because it's in the hacks forum, administrators will already be aware that it's a hack, and can safely assume that you want a TAS of it published on the site.

Hi Bisqwit,
Just shooting you a quick pm to ask about a verdict about this pretty cool hack X we've been discussing in the NES/SNES/DMG/ETC forum. Here's the link to the discussion thread, if you could take a look and get back to us whenever we'd really appreciate it.

I also don't follow the logic that says a hack topic posted in a regular forum needs a (Hack asking for evaluation) tag, while it wouldn't be needed if the same topic was posted in a hack forum.

I can definitely see the logic in a hack forum. Hacks are clearly becoming more popular and hack TASes are being made and obsoleted in a fashion that is no way different from normal runs.
I disagree for subforums within the hack forum as I don't see it as neccessary. Just 'Game Hacks' or 'Hacks and Concept Demos' would fit everything.
I think a forum such as this would make sense in an organisation similar to that of the 'Other' or the 'Speedrun Competitions' forum (the latter of which is already pretty dead and a hacks/concept demos forum would capture much more interest).
I'm confused... Upthorn, you're saying there is no place to discuss hacks, but there is. If the hack runs in an SNES emulator, then you can talk about it in the SNES forum which makes perfect sense to me. Someone coming to the site looking for discussion about Super Demo World would know exactly where to look. More forums != good.
I think the current system is just fine. There really arent all that many hacks that get discussed to warrant creating another forum.
I don't really see a hack as something entirely different from a published game from a TAS point of view.
This signature is much better than its previous version.
What about from non-TAS perspective? Right now there is no place to just discuss hacks. There is one forum for "other games" so why not one for hacks? There people could share their favorite hacks with everyone and people might find new stuff to play that they haven't known about before. Maybe the rarely used "other games" forum could be renamed to "Other games and hack discussion".

Because there isn't a place to discuss hacks from a non-TAS perspective (which in itself makes no sense, should we also come up with a section for non-TAS discussion of regular games for each console?), we should create a new section for TAS discussion of hacks?
These suggestions make little sense to me. asteron and anubis summed it up pretty well.
I just think that the NES/SNES/etc forums shouldn't be cluttered with hacks that won't be accepted at the site. I'd still like to able to talk about them somewhere.
I said this earlier in the thread:
"It's not like the console forums are so super-busy that having the extra 5 hack topics in them stifles traffic to the non-hacked game thread or make the forums so cluttered they're unreadable, etc. "
I guess it's safe to say you strongly disagree with this statement? I'd be interested in hearing why.
Because if it was allowed to talk about any hack there would be a lot more than 5 topics.
So what I wrote ("It's not like the console forums are so super-busy that having the extra 5 hack topics in them stifles traffic to the non-hacked game thread or make the forums so cluttered they're unreadable, etc. ") is accurate at the moment?
Also, I think you're wrong about that. I don't think we'd see a huge (or even a noticable) increase in number of hack related topics no matter what rules Bisqwit added/removed.
Edit: Unless he simply renamed the site hackedgamesdiscussion.org I guess. But you know. This is primarily a TAS site, and I don't see that changing any time soon.
