I really want to see a game brute-forced... I bet I could cobble together some hardware and build a machine just to Bisqbot games, if somebody wanted to write the code.

O_O If this happens, Bisqbot will make all players redundant... It would be interesting to see a Bisqbot that can perfect any game...but I really enjoy making runs...

well, it would really only be feasible for certain games... I don't think we'd be able to do FFVI, for instance. Four hours would take a lifetime to crunch.

I'd love to see full, 100% runs of Zelda and Zelda 2 without using the Up+A cheat and done in the proper order of the castles. Basically, I guess I'd just like to see a completed game movie as it was initially intended. Maybe I'm just old school in that regard. :D

I would like to see "Secret of Mana (Seiken Densetsu 2)" 3-players-run. I enjoyed it very much in childhood though there were a lot of system bugs.

I bet a bot could make a perfect run of mario 1, because it is never necessary to get powerups, which I think a computer might not be able to handle. I remember hearing somewhere that Mario has speed which varies slightly, and when it maxes out the value can be preserved by jumping. Is this real or am I nuts? If it is real, the bot could hold -> and B, jumping to avoid stuff of when the speed value maxes out. If I'm wrong, then I think current runs are perfect. But to get this "magic run", I would like a game that would be impossible to perfect by bot or human... Rampage world tour! Despite what all the skeptics say, I think a half-hour extravaganza of buildings being flattened would be rather entertaining. I'd also like to see perfect runs of the Pokemon series, out of curiosity (luck-manipulation can theoretically be done without wasting time, but it's way too close to impossible to be done by a human).

And to a lesser extent when playing normally on console, though it takes a bit of practice. The difference between Mario's fastest flying speed and his slowest flying speed is definitely noticable enough to be able to take advantage of. Of course, when playing on console, chances are the run you're doing isn't timed accurately enough for it to be of much importance unless it's a pretty long run so it has time to add up.

also you can't assume that taking a powerup is slower. maybe it allows some screen zipping glitch.

This wouldn't be a problem to a bot. It is a computer program and has no idea that there are things to avoid. Keep in mind that I have never looked at the Bisqbot source code, but I imagine that it would be coded to loop the specific section using every possible combination of input until a certain condition is fulfilled (having said that, I doubt it's that simple and my programming is basic).

In my opinion this would be the most difficult game to get frame perfect and we will never see it done. The outcome of the luck manipulation is a max crit. and an enemy miss. This is manipulated by selecting the move and clearing the dialog box on a specific frame. Frame perfection would have these outcomes on the earliest possible frame (i.e. the first) on every single battle. This would be outrageously difficult to manipulate and so each obsoletion of a Pokemon moive will eventually just be only through better luck manipulation (since small variation alter the entire way luck is manipulated in future).

Well, I don't think there will be much competition on it after route optimization. Tilus made a roughly 1:51 TAS, and no one tried to improve it until it was suggested to glitch a Mew. Then Primorial#Soup made the improvement to around 1:46. Then all was quiet until Primo realized that it was best to glitch a Gyarados instead of Mew. Than the run was improved to 1:42. Then no one did a remake until I suggested to catch a Snorlax at the highest level of power with the Missingno. glitch. This started a small furor once again, and after considering Snorlax, Raticate, Mewtwo, Kingler, and Marowak, we settled on glitching a Marowak and I am now starting the long process of TASing to glitch a Marowak. I imagine that if we assigned a computer to figure out the fastest run possible through every button input possible, it would be much shorter than our current runs. But I am pretty confident it would start with Charmander, glitch a Gyarados, then later glitch a Marowak. When we turned on input display, we would see a lot of random crap. That's why I want a "magic" perfect TAS of the Pokemon games: Because there is no way in hell all the people on earth all working on it could ever get close.
