At the recomendation of a few people here and in chat, i'm going to contact the PCSX2 comunity, and see if we can get a dialog going between us and them. I've posted an information only thread to see where they are going in a few fields. http://forums.ngemu.com/pcsx2-official-forum/75078-questions-about-functionality.html Help me follow up with them. I'm not a coder, so i may run into questions from them that i cannot answer.

there are several reasons why implementing rerecording on pcsx2 is a bad idea at the moment. Rerecording needs more than just simple save states and input logging, it needs rock solid savestates, as well as host independant emulation, and I really doubt pcsx2 has either at the moment or in the near future.

Source code is right here: http://pcsx2.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/pcsx2/pcsx2_0.9.2/ Funny, im pretty active in #pcsx2 on efnet and actually spoke with Refractio about us making a re-record version. He said he is fine with it as long as the version is only used for the TAS community. Nitsuja...this has your name on it :).

What, PS2 rerecording already, before PSX rerecording is practical? Well I couldn't even get this emulator to work, but maybe someone else could try it...

If PS2 emulation works, doesnt that mean that PS1 games can be emulated via backwards compatability?

Nop, because there is the equivalent of a ps1 in the ps2, there's only a couple of part that are shared, the rest belong to each system. But I heard that pSX Author's is doing ps2 emulation once in a while. But anyway, so bad he does not release the source code, it would be nice to be able to tas with pSX which is a great emulator.

He doesn't have to be fine with it, and the version doesn't have to be only used by the TAS community. His code is released under the GNU GPL, afterall, so he has no say over what happens to his code when someone decides to fork it (as long as the license is upheld).
