Those who sees this must accept that TAS'es almost skips the whole game..

I was suprised when I saw that for the very first time, I remember always having to wait outside because I could not get to the gate in time back when I played it as a kid

You can actually make it just in time if you continuously roll and take a very direct path.

yeah, I was rolling on the dirt path, not direct... remember, it came out when I was 9, so I wasn't quite savvy back then.

So, dumb questions from the author...... 1. What path are we using? 2. Is mwl still updating the progress site? I am in Hyrule Field about to SS off a peahat. We need to break down the Spirit Temple and see if anything can be glitched through/manipulated. If not that, then Dodongo's cavern as well as Jabu Jabu needs to be well read. For Jabu: I think I should skip picking up Princess Ruto, grab a fish, and use that for getting the boomerang. This leaves the dialogue time down. After getting the boomerang, go back and bomb boost (if Princess Ruto is not grabbed, can you grab and throw a box instead?) Or if the fish still exists, then use that on the next switch. If this is wrong. Please correct.

1) I'm not sure 2) I can ask for skippable stuff in Spirit temple, I vaguely remember at some point on youtube seeing a vid of bomb staircasing and somehow bypassing the huge grey block that needs the iron gauntlets to enter the adult section... don't know if A) it'll work or B) that means that you can play the adult section as a kid and get the mirror shield early... is there any way to bomb boost/seamwalk/SS up to the iron guantlets from the outside? I don't know if using the fish to those extremities will get the desired effect, but sounds like it could save time if it does.

No, I haven't been updating the site. No one has yet figured out a way to get past the guards in Hyrule Castle Courtyard, and that's the main roadblock right now. As for Spirit, skipping that long dialogue would shave off about 1.5 minutes. If you can find a way to skip the Requiem, that would be another minute off. Regarding your proposed Jabu-Jabu strat, I believe the bottle glitch doesn't work on that particular switch. If you can show us otherwise, please do so!

First of all, you won't have bombs upon entering Spirit Temple. Second, completing the adult section as a child is probably too slow to be worth it. You can reach the hands from the outside, but you'd want to plant a magic bean, ride the bean plant to the Heart Piece (which accounts for about half the needed height), and then use the tactics you mentioned to reach the treasures. This can't be done on the first trip to Spirit, though. (It'll be the only trip if Guano is doing Bottle Adventure.)

still no way past the guards? bummer. skipping the long dialogue is a good idea. maybe a sidehop and the next frame after landing next to the hole crawling through. skipping the requiem, isn't it used to teleport Link back to the spirit temple? unless my idea to play temple as a kid works, then yes requiem would not be needed. actually, given that someone tested bomb+SS to cross the gap to get to Gannondorf's castle, is it possible to enter the castle?; if so, are any medallions nescessary to beat the game?

Yes, you need light arrows.

You don't need any medallions to complete the game. The only problem is the Light Arrows, and that's where Bottle Adventure comes in -- it provides an alternate method to getting that item without completing Shadow/Spirit. For this reason, the Requiem is unnecessary. We visit the temple to collect Bombchus, and nothing more. That said, if there's another source (such as Bottom of the Well), early Spirit and the long Wasteland trek can be skipped entirely.

Ahem... GANNON-BAN. You should be glad you got off with only one: Not only did you call them the wrong name, but you even misspelled it.

I think I know the video you remember. It was by Acryte, iirc, and he did it as an adult. I'm not sure if it's possible as a child. I'll try to find it, if it's still up. EDIT: Is it this video? The trick was discovered by Kazooie. You apparently need the hover boots, so it's an adult-only trick.

It doesn't matter. As I've been saying, you don't need either the Gauntlets or the Mirror Shield to complete the game with Bottle Adventure.

Remember if you grab the bottle (and no doubt you will during the run) you can use bottle swap trick to overwrite another item, like deku nuts. Then you can have 2 fish, since you won't have time to grab the fish again and make it to the door. But, you can grab nuts and it will overwrite it and give you deku nuts again. About skipping Requiem.. Just leave through the top and you can skip it... only thing is that you have to go through the extra rooms. One thing, don't we save a little time w/ gauntlet in forest temple if we skip requiem through the top? Because the block maze + groundjump is alot faster than bombhover, and also is alot faster than getting the goron bracelet too. Oh, or can we do the bombhover to the boss door? I WILL TRY THIS! Nope, negative. Only way you'd get this to work is if you could do one of the following: 1) Find some magical way to make child FW work as adult FW (never gonna happen) 2) Find a way to fall through the elevator (passing the load on the way). Then try to do that little staircase hover jumpslash thing like in water to get through the door (if that is possible at least). 3) Discover wallclipping as adult.

Which is slower (unless I'm mistaken), so might as well just learn it.

I have found a way to skip the Minuet of Forest. once you get to the flat part behind the pounding dude, use staircase bombhover and backflip over the edge into the void but aimed so you pass the load point for the cutscene. The cutscene will activate, then you will die and respawn and when you make your way back, it won't play. if you use groundjump to top of maze + hover superslide, then you will cover that ground again very quickly and you'll save time, no doubt. Oh, and hoversuperslide can go all the way across, and PAST the moblin and all the way up into that other area. After you drop off the maze, you get back to the ground before the boots wear off, so you can continue the superslide. So, you can get across the whole of the meadow in very very little time. Also, it is hard but staircase bombhover can be done w/ 1 bomb and 1 bombchu and hoverboots. But not bombchu only I don't think.

I've always thought that you need to beat the forest temple and become a kid again if you want to use the bottle adventure glitch (and light arrows on B). Is this not the case anymore? If so then great. :)

He's just talking about skipping the warp song, not the dungeon itself.

I'm confident the FT can be done without a Boss key. Like I said several months ago, use the Forest Temple glitch to get into the elavator room below, but Use the hover boots (and TAS like abilties) to stay on the boundaries of the wall and then skllfully move into the boss key room, I confident that this'll work when the time comes, its simply impossible to do on a console becuase none of the textures are loaded so there is no visulal aid to help when doing this trick. I'd also reccomend just doing ordinary bomb hovers in the FT to get to the Arrows becuase its only required twice, plus bom drops can be manipulated in Lake Hylia.

wait, so am I going to ST? If I can get into the bottom of the well for bombs, then there is no point in the ST, right? I am confused..........sadly.
