Dreamland 3 was indeed released for the SNES. It's the last SNES game ever released in the US. Kinda like how Kirby's Adventure was the last NES game ever released. Hm. Unsettling trend. Also, there was this little arcade style baseball game that featured Kirby as well that was available in the Satellaview system. The kind that you just time your swing, and the ball lands in one of a series of slots with 1B, 3B, HR, OUt and such.

Huh? I know Wario's Woods was at least a year after Kirby's Adventure. Where is that information from?

Lo, I am mistaken. Not THE last, just one of. I'm still pretty sure about KDL3 though.

Actually, if you want to count unlicensed games, I think Sunday Funday was the last NES game released in the US. For those who don't know, it's one of those awful Wisdom Tree games (i.e. Bible Adventures, Super 3D Noah's Ark). And to add to the topic, look for *anything* made by Compile or Cave. Those two companies are the MASTERS of overhead shooters. Here's a quick overview of the body of work of each... Compile: - The Zanac series, which consists of three games: Zanac (NES), Zanac-EX (MSX), and Zanac X Zanac (PSX). The MSX, in case anyone asks, was a popular home computer in Japan and Europe which had quite a few great games; perhaps the most notable of these was Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, which blows away the NES Snake's Revenge in every possible way. It also featured the first-ever Castlevania game, Vampire Killer. Anyway...I feel this series is their greatest work, as it features an extremely unique AI system; basically, the better you play, and the better weapons you have, the tougher the game gets. As far as availability goes, the NES Zanac shouldn't be TOO tough to find, but the others never received US releases. =/ - The Guardic series, which consists of Guardic (MSX) and Guardic Gaiden (NES). The latter is known in the US as The Guardian Legend, and is right up there with Zanac in my view. It's sort of a combination of Blaster Master and their overhead shooters, with the ability to level up your many different weapons. Of all of the games I'm talking about, this is the one I would reccomend the highest, now that I'm thinking about it. - Gun*Nac (NES). This is sort of like Zanac without the AI system...in its place, you have the ability to pick up money from enemies and buy weapons. The storyline is also rather humorous. - The Aleste series. I know of three of these games, all of which were released in the US under different names. Among them are M.U.S.H.A. (Genesis), Space Megaforce (SNES), and Robo Aleste (Sega CD). I haven't actually played any of them, but I have heard nothing but good about all of them. Cave: - The Donpachi series (Donpachi, DoDonpachi, DoDonpachi Daioujou). Just pure madness that shows the goodness of newschool with oldschool values. =) The first one was arcade-only, while the second was released in Japan for arcade/PSX/Saturn and the third was for PS2 and also Japan-only. - ESPGaluda. Their newest work of genius, also PS2 and also Japan-only. Included with the game is a "superplay" performed by one of Japan's best shmup players; he goes by "NAL" here, but is also an elite Virtua Fighter player (won the last national tournament) who uses the name "Homestay Akira". Another top VF player did some voice acting for this too, evidently... That's all for now, Josh.

Kid Icarus(just kidding. Why is your avatar an egg plant wizard though?) Actually, I can't really think of any. The only old school games that I play constatnly are Bubble Bobble and Bust a move. Try Adventures of Lolo(puzzle), vectorman(platform??), bombermans(action?),seiken densetsu 3(rpg), mario kart(racing)

Kid Icarus is one of my all time favorite games. The eggplant wizard is simply the greatest enemy ever made. It's so funny. I will look into that Lolo game, what system is it for?

The Lolo (Eggerland) series exists over multiple platforms, most notably the NES, FDS, GB, MSX, and PC.

The Kunio series is every genre and good in all of them but puzzle. It's on every good system. Edit: You may find Kunio games under many titles. The words "Kunio-kun" or "Nekketsu" appear in almost all of them.

What? So... if I wanted to download a Kunio game (is that a company?) right now, I would look up "Kunio or Nekketsu" on NES and SNES? Are they japanese games? Do I need to look for english tranlsations?

Kunio games which have been released in the US: Renegade/Target: Renegade (NES and Genesis, I believe) River City Ransom (NES) Super Dodge Ball (NES) Crash 'n the Boys: Street Challenge (NES) A soccer game whose name I forget (GB) Super Dodge Ball (Neo-Geo, totally different from the NES one) River City Ransom EX (GBA, hope I got the name right) Probably missed one or two there...anyway, there are a bunch of other great ones which are Japan-only. Follow Boco's advice and look for "Kunio" or "Nekketsu" in the title. -Josh

Ristar is a game for the Genesis. You play as this star kid thing with stretchy arms. You latch on to ladders and swing around poles and such.

Plese edit that post. You are not allowed to give links to roms. The thing that I don't like abou that site is it takes forever to get to your game if it is near the end(e.g az or su)(youll understand if you've been there) so i'm making a php script that lets you browse it a lot easier. Edit: Fixed typo

They actually have more search options then meet the eye. They have an advances search that lets you search for a particular game by name. They also allow you to have the lists appear in different order, other then just by name, such as by country, by amount of dls. A pop up blocker helps also. (Can we even be talkig about this?)

I don't see why not. As long as we don't link to roms, it should be fine. And even if we can't the worst that will happen is that Bisqwit edit's our message. And this advanced search option sounds interesting. I must try it.

Well in that case. The best way to search for games on that site, is simple. Click on advances search, pick your console, and make it rate by download count, and descending. That way you will get the comepletel list of games, with the most downloaded ones up top. This way you will see all the most popular games. This is largely how I buily my collection. It's like "ask the audience" and they tell you which games every is getting.

You can discuss your favorite ROM site so long as you don't mention the name or the URL. I think I know what site you're talking about anyway.
