Could it be the left+right effect we see in games like Zelda 2?

Considering 3 of the other movies in the profile are Hacked Mario 3 runs I am assuming it is a hack. Untill I can have the Key log and use it on an unedited ROM I will not believe otherwise. Sweed might be DMTM - I use multiple names on forums - Nosira Tocs, Ronald-san, Shaded Spriter - it sometimes get confusing when trying to get feedback on a forum on pictures sometimes.

Is this any faster than the standard methods? It seems like the first wall pass-through is slower than climbing the normal way.

I can verify that this Mr_Sweed is DMTM :) We talk on MSN. And he does tend to mess with hacked ROMs.

No. Holding Left+right in Sonic games just makes sonic "run" to the right at a constant speed of 30 pixels per second, unless he's already running, in which case it makes him brake without running the braking animation.
How fleeting are all human passions compared with the massive continuity of ducks.

Oh yeah, it's a moonwalk right? I remember doing that in S3&K with a 3rd party controller that let me press down the entire D-pad at once.

The jump sound in that video doesn't sound like the normal Sonic jump sound. But you know what I'm really wondering? Who did this video? I just can't seem to find the answer anywhere.

Like I said, DMTM and Mr_Sweed are the same person, and that person made the video. -_-

Until he thoroughly explains how he performed that trick and provide us with a file (Gens) proving that, then I will be convinced that it is a legit trick.

It's clearly hacked for one main reason. If there was that big a glitch in the game Nitsuja would have found it. End of.

>The jump sound in that video doesn't sound like the normal Sonic jump sound. I think you can get it by fiddling with the sound options in Gens. I remember hearing it before. And of course Mr_Sweed here is DMTM. Who would want to pretend to be DMTM if they weren't?

I guess next time I'll stick a big orange flag in the ground that reads "SARCASM" and sound off a few air horns.

No, I really didn't pick up on that sarcasm. Sorry. I like the idea with air horns though, can we try that next time?

Did you steal the horn on the right off an ambulance?

I have a natural skill at making my pictures look horrible in a way that makes them even more awesome. Truncated, I tried to read your post, but my head started to hurt, and then I went to eat some ice cream. \o/ I also didn't know that there were backwards letters in the character set! Boo-yah!

Is this video some sort of protest?

Well I missed at least one timesaver there (4 seconds in Aquatic Ruin 2), and a few in S3&K (at least 20 seconds). But I don't think this one is possible. The boundary checking on the left side of the level isn't so bad that you can hope to bypass it with a regular jump.

aquatic ruin zone, act 2 in 0:39 Check it out. At the end something happens that saves some seconds in game time. It proberbly saves about 3 seconds or so. Best way to explain it is that eggman doesen't use about 3 seconds to blow up. Maybe this can be done on other stages as well?

I've known about that since October (and it would save 4 time units), but that and Metal Sonic seem to be the only bosses with a bug like that, and I don't know of many other improvements to make. The spindash-through-objects trick from Sonic 3 does work in Sonic 2, but I'm not sure where it would help much.
