No it hasn't...it's just that you might not live long enough to see it released.

It's been a long, but I finally beat the 1st world, all I have to do is to check which jobs should I have beforehand & then go to the 2nd world... (I was playing to much the GBA version, that forgot to continue this run :P) I'll post the progress tomorrow :)

I just downloaded this and will check it out later today. I also made a post in the "translation patches" debate in the General Forum that might be of interest to you.

I watched this for the first time yesterday and had a few questions... Why do you fight the Goblin in a box and not some overworld Goblin? The overworld fight should give you enough EXP to eliminate the one fight before. Why do you have Faris attack unequipped and then Butz attack with a knife in the Siren fight, rather than having one of them have a broadsword so only one needs to attack? Any particular reason you grabbed the Elfen Cape? How are you avoiding overworld combats near Karnak? Is there some reason this couldn't be done earlier in the run as well? Why did you need to kill Butz in the fight with Ironclaw? There should be an experience path which levels up the characters unequally based on the unequal EXP they begin with and doesn't need to kill off a character to have only one level 5. Of course you didn't lose much time here because you still had to manipulate out a Deathclaw casting. I've not watched past the Library yet...
someone is out there who will like you. take off your mask so they can find you faster. I support the new Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun.

it's been a while, so I don't remember the exact details, but will try to answer them :)

I decided to gain some experience inside the tower. In a patched run I made (which desynched at the Ancient library) I had to trigger 2 fights in order to fight the Goblins, it would had been the same in this run... So, I wanted to make the run look as linear as possible & not stop triggering the battle. I'm sure I didn't lost time, but didn't compared them :P

I think that I equipped the strongest weapons to the blue mages & leave Faris w/o a weapon. I would really need to watch it again to be sure, though :S

For evading reasons. I might be low in HP in some places, so I need some evasion. Later on, I realized that evading takes a little more time than being hit, but if you can't survive the hit, then you must evade it...

Well, for some reason in the patched run I just couldn't skip triggering battles after walking 1 space. This was going to happen also, but fortunately all I had to do is delay a little bit opening the menu & get a better RNG :D. (I'm sure I'll have the same issue on world 2, after passing the castle with the legendary weapons, but I know now how to deal with it :) )

Since I made an extra battle (a MiaB fight), I gained a little more exp than what I expected, so everyone would be at exactly lv 5, ouch! Also, it looks kind of unexpected :)

Well, I changed a few things from my patched run, like the steal glitch, so you should watch it. I'm around 4 minutes ahead of my patched run by now :)

But, Butz and Faris are in the bottom two slots, and you only have two Broadswords, which you have to Galuf and Lenna, right? So the normal attack from Butz does 16 damage instead of 32, and Faris does 6 for being unarmed. If Butz had a weapon you'd only need to attack once... but it's not that big a deal and it's so early in the run that you probably shouldn't worry about it

I checked that part & I have the 2 swords equipped to Butz & Leena respectively & the knife to Galuf... If that battle was the one I end with a hit instead of a goblin punch, then it was because it was faster that way ;) I played a little more & beat Gilgamesh once, I'm about to exit the castle... From now on, I guess I won't have as many troubles as in world 1, so I think I could progress a little faster :)

Just finished watching it; while that siren fight looked off to me too, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you know what you're doing. Other than that it looks great. Any opinion on the subtitle suggestion I made in the General forum?

I was going to PM you, but I'll answer here. Lots of people will enjoy knowing what on earth is going on, so the subtitles will help a lot the people who haven't played, so you hav my support :)

Sounds good. I'm swamped with schoolwork, but I'll squeeze in a little work here and there and see if I can't get something preliminary going this week. I'll also have to get an idea on how verbose to make things, but I have a few ideas that could be interesting. Before I get started, though, I'd like to know that you intend to submit this current version you're working on (i.e. nothing will change with World 1) or, at the very least, that a restart won't undergo sweeping changes. Assuming things are being etched-in-stone in a sense, though, I'll see what I can throw together.

No, I won't change a thing. That's what it keeps me busy taking so long aking the file :) Have you played FFV before, or do you need a little help knowing what's going on?

I'm still not going to watch it as to not spoil myself, but I would like to encourage you with some "keep it up!" and "good luck!" Also, the prospect of subtitles during the ship graveyard amuses me; "Butz and Galuf have just discovered Faris has breasts."

I just watched the wip, and it looks good. Why did you get those two fire rods?

Not sure which part are you talking, but I got a pair of them for Archeoavis battle (he changes his barrier "often"). I also bought some "extra" rods, due to the fact that I forgot to take account that I leveled up earlier than in the patched run, so I do a little more damage. In the fight against the Sol Cannon I only needed 8 rods instead of 9 :S. Aint that bad as I beat him faster, but I'll have more items, which I wasn't supposed to. Well, same goes with the 3 techs that I skipped with the Puroboros, so there are some minor mistakes that should be removed if another run comes... I also forgot that I only needed 3 bears for Gilgamesh at the brigde & instead of the 4th one, I should had used GP Toss, break a rod or throw a tech. That would saved a few seconds at the Desert, but I remembered that until today... :P

TheAxeMan once said the key to a good RPG run is iteration. Each of these minor timesavers you find will improve the run next time, if you can bring yourself to do a next time. For now, don't stress about it. I like the run so far. FYI, I played PSX translation and don't read Japanese... watching it wasn't bad at all but I watched the story scenes with higher speed.

I played it before, but very long ago; we're talking when the Fan Translation was new, and I haven't played the Playstation or GBA remakes, although I'll likely pick up the GBA version and play through that, so that'll refresh my memory. I'm going to put together a crude AVI and put that on my webspace, and I'll get to work on subtitles in the next few days, after I get a few school assignments turned in. PM me with anything you think I might overlook.

Ok BTW, I just got to the Val Castle. I stopped at exactly 2hrs 8 minutes. I could had continued a little more, up to the basement, but I wanted to stop in a round number :P Here's the file On a side note, I just got my copy of Final Fantasy V Advance :D, I'm playing it on my brother's DS lite Onix :)

NEW AVI up, one third the size with minimal quality loss (not with the most recent file, though; this one ends once world 1 completes) http://www.nihongowned.com/univbee/TASVideos/ffvwip-world1end.avi It's 174 megs, encoded with x264 v.573 at 140 kbps average and 56 kbps MP3 audio. Have at it.

GAH! looks good (really it does, i just dont know how to emphasize it more). the translation should be very funny.
