Chopper Pilot (Compute's Gazette)
Become the pilot of a helicopter, flying low over mountains, buildings, and trees, in this fast-paced simulation game.
The article for this game can be found on page 54 of Compute's Gazette Issue 52 (October 1987)
Why TAS This Game?
The continuation of TASing games from my all-time favorite magazine, Compute's Gazette. This makes my 52nd TAS from this series.
I think this was the last magazine that I got from a subscription, because the next magazine...I don't remember at all. So this game was very misunderstood on my part, as I didn't know enough about this game to figure out any achievements that would excel me into the higher levels.
Previous Compute's Gazette submissions include (In order of submission):
Game Difficulty and Ending
This game has progressive game play. You must beat one level to get to the next. There are five level and each get more pronounced in it's difficulty. In order to get past each level, you much exceed the "bonus" amount that is displayed at the bottom of the screen.
Effort In TASing
This game was split between very easy and hard. It was easy to just fly straight to the goal of 30 miles, but it was hard to get the required points to move on to the next level. Because this game is HEAVY on RNG, it was a constant exercise in controlling the terrain for me to cross safely. With human play-ability, no one can sustain 104 miles per hour of speed. Because I was able to keep that speed up the entire run, this TAS has achieved the fastest completion possible.
Human Comparison
I have never found anyone who has made it to Level 2. Apparently, this game was as hard as I remember!
