Comments

This is yet another Sonic Advance run and yes, it is with Knuckles again! This is a 2193 frame improvement over the previous run. While it doesn't make use of the Ultra Dash, it also uses its fair share of glitches that gives Knuckles a pretty good chance at beating the game in record time.

Stage by stage comments

Neo Green Hill 1 - 0:21:22

Not much to say about this level aside from optimized original strat.

Neo Green Hill 2 - 0:37:18

Similar strat as previous run, but more optimized.

Secret Base 1 - 0:32:50

Everything is almost exactly the same except for a few little things which helped me gain time.

Secret Base 2 - 0:55:50

A major route change was use here as I abused the OoB glitch to break the solidarity of the level and got there over 2 seconds faster.

Casino Paradise 1 - 0:24:07

Same as previous run except with a few tweaks. A glitch similar to the "Sonic, No Ultraspindash" TAS by Mukki is used near the end of the level.

Casino Paradise 2 - 0:39:30

Not as much changes in this level... just better optimization.

Ice Mountain 1 - 0:38:32

A route change as made here as well which saved me over 5 seconds of time over the previous run.

Ice Mountain 2 - 0:52:68

Similar route as the current run, but more optimized. A shortcut was used which made the glider useless.

Angel Island 1 - 0:25:23

Here, I used the OoB glitch here again, but changed the route to avoid death and gain more time in the process.

Angel Island 2 - 0:52:40

Not much special here.

Egg Rocket 1 - (displayed as 3:4:53 in game)

Ohh Egg Rocket, how I still and forever will hate you so! This run made use of a glitch that pushes Knuckles through the floor and causes the level to lose solidarity. Thus making it possible to complete it in one go. A route change was made here as well, which made it possible to complete it even faster than the previous run.

Cosmic Angel 2 - 0:51:52

Mostly optimization over the previous run.

Final Zone - 0:43:80

Final Boss is STILL a pain...

Unlike Sonic he doesn't chuckle, he rather flexed his muscles... Maybe too fucking much. I vote yes.

The Egg Rocket appears to have some structural deficiencies. Did anyone warn Dr. Eggman about this?

Always fantastic to see substantial improvements to an already high caliber run. Yes votes don't come much easier than this.

I've witnessed the hard work that went into this run, but didn't see what happened after Angel Island... And you managed to surprise me again, Maria ^^. I didn't see the zipping coming in Egg Rocket for example. Voting yes, of course.

Great job! I think I was more surprised by Angel Island 1 than Egg Rocket, mostly because Egg Rocket has been broken for longer now. It's all good though.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. Fantastic as always. I wasn't expecting such a massive time improvement. Yes vote.

When I watched you streaming your progress, Maria, I could already tell that this was going to be a significant improvement to an already optimized TAS. And I was absolutely right. Very entertaining and an obvious yes vote! I hope you try to bring more times down for this game or one of the other GBA Sonics!

#3548: Mukki's GBA Sonic Advance "Sonic, no Ultraspindash" in 13:17.22 #4652: GoddessMaria's GBA Sonic Advance "Knuckles, No Ultraspindash" in 13:15.04 Both TASes are pretty close, aren't they? Well, an optimized version of this shortcut should help the echidna come victorious.

And suddenly Sonic is relegated to suboptimal character, that would be amazing.

And the Sonic run doesn't use a "new" shortcut that is worth something like 2 or 3 seconds in Egg Rocket ;)

RIP my time, spent watching this several times now someone just needs to do a tails run someday... (and an updated sonic run; would the egg rocket skip be feasible with sonic on TAS?)

Ice Mountain 1 (past the second to last lamp post in level), Ice Mountain 2 (Boss because of RNG seed), Angel Island 2 (same reason as Ice Mountain 2), and X-Zone (Final Boss.. again because of RNG seed although the time for the level is the same as the last one).
