“Use of analog controls, allowing for much more precise movement” I thought the PSX didn’t have analog input… do all games actually have it? I wonder what that means for Tenchu…
Came out later in the playstation's life, so only some games support it. And i'm having a brain moment, and cant think of examples for sure. Early games dont support it, later games might.

The whole starting with a power up think always kind of bothered me in the previous TAS, but I just figured it was part of having expert mode. So figuring out how to have expert mode without a power up and using it is a good thing in my mind, even if it slows things down a touch. Edit, watched the file and I'm getting a desync somewhere around the skip n 4-1. You do that thing grabbing the powerup and skip to the sub-boss, kill boss and then at about frame 15344 you die, and again two more times quickly thereafter, and stay at the game over screen with input continuing. Using fceux 2.2.2, never used for anything but watching so settings as set by default and how its in the movie file.

If toad no longer gets a speed boost from carrying items, why do you spend so much time grabbing and carrying things? I do like that reset abuse to get the warp to world five. Edit: I suppose I should be specific. In 1-1 you briefly carry the enemy before you go through the bottom of the stage, in 1-3 you carry the enemy through most of the stage, and in ... I think its 5-2 you carry that beetle thing until you start climbing vines. Does this provide some other benefit without the speed boost, or are you just carrying them because it doesn't slow you down and you can or something like that?
He said that the Super Mario Advance version, Toad doesn't get a speed boost. This is the Super Mario All-Stars version where he still has it.
That makes sense. My brain gets easily confused sometimes. I saw the A at the end and assumed it meant Allstars.

Apparently a lot of things are being flagged with the new Youtube Red thing in the US. ... something to do with corps not getting in on the deal, so anything they've claimed isn't being shown in the US at this time or some such. I can't see the video either (in the US here).

I have thought about this, like hi-res texture packs but with sprites. This is close, but not quite what you're looking for. It gives a good example of what such a feature could look like! http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/um/people/kopf/pixelart/index.html
neat. thanks for that link. Some of those vector magic up-scales are hilariously bad. (in the supplementary materials comparisons.)

for all the fish pun lovers i give you Kip Addotta https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6l1GvDWtccI (If samsara's bad puns made me think of this song i don't see why I should suffer alone.)

The boss floating down the screen doesn't make a difference for the timing since its based on the input file, which stops as soon as the last shot is fired. Timing for TAS's are based on the input file only, and the input file ends, in general, when no further input is needed to reach the end.
