No need of space jump to leave Maridia. But you would have to make Draygon to grab Samus to leave her next to the exit door and finish him from there and use the shinespark aquired by the Cristal Flash to leave the water. The Space Jump is useless in water if you don't have the Gravity Suit because you don't gain height, Samus just keep spacejumping in the same height you started the jump (IIRC).
That's cool. Btw, doesn't Screw Attack save time when scaping, in the 4th room by using it to destroy the pirate in the left wall instead of damage boosting to the right, or damage boosting is faster?
Just Awesome! highlights for me is Maridia. Usually it's a boring area for me, in an RBO due to the fact that Samus moves slow, but this RBO is different. I think the mocktroids bridge could be a good screenshot. Congratulations!
Btw, Runs for Super Metroid should always be done by a team! Now there's only the 100% run left, unless somebody would improve the low% ice beam route run.
Christmas gift, please!
That's something! Though i don't remember watching a rbo made by you, but i watched one made by Namespoofer, the one where he goes to the gauntlet after Torizo... i think that is the only optimized RBO TAS i watched.
I first thought about this goal too, but in some levels Sonic has so high speed that you skip some parts of them by jumping, so some people would say that "Taking a route intended by the programmers" is an arbitrary goal since you skip some parts of the level by jumping above it or something like that. Maybe i'm wrong.
I like the run and there were some really cool tricks. I voted yes, but i feel the same as moozooh. Although the goals were not violated, the last two levels looked a little out of place. Maybe a goal like "Complete the game without going through walls (walls/ground/ceiling???)" would be better...
Kool stuff, SDR! I liked more the Zangief and Birdie fight and the double Akuma fight with those crazy throws! It seems that the glitch with Cody and guy and double rolento freezes the game, so it would not be useful in a run/playaround, since you have to beat the game.
Thanks for the update. By the way, don't know if you're into mega drive / Sega Genesis games, but i was thinking about a game I played a lot in the past and its run in the site is from 2007. The game is Quackshot and i don't know about the level of optimization of the run, but who knows, maybe you could give it a shot when you have time.
Good luck with your new project, Dooty! Also, always keep recording, even if you are just playing around or practicing, so if the "Special" knockback happens to you, you can rewatch and see what's happening, so you can reproduce it.
Iirc, the problem is once you complete the level, you have to wait for the dark screen animation before going to overworld map and then Mario automatically goes to the Switch Palace, so if you complete the level you have to wait for him to go all the way up to the second map screen before beeing able to proceed in Iggi's castle direction.
Edit: Btw, the new strategy for yi1 is amazing! Also, this new run, tradding Iggi's castle for YI1 is more entertaining for me, maybe because i've always watched Iggi's castle beeing TASed before in any% and YI1 is new, but for me there's no loss in entertainment.
Unfortunatelly, using the goal sphere in Bowser castle doesn't trigger the credits, the goal sphere just brings mario to the overworld map. If it doesn't trigger the credits, the game is not beaten.
If my calculations are right, you guys are now 1183 frames ahead from the run that just got accepted. Is 1183 frames = 19 seconds and 43 frames? If so, as MUGG said, you guys can beat the 10 minutes mark.
This run is good, though i think it's not as good as other runs/playarounds done by other TASers.
Btw, there's a trick/glitch in this game that allows you to use the bosses against the computer and you can even beat the game with Shao Khan or Motaro. It could be nice to see Motaro VS. Motaro with fireballs hitting each ones body and coming back like a ping pong. The bosses can't do combos, iirc, but maybe TASers could find something usefull. I think this is something different that you don't find in MK2 or UMK3.
That's nice! Lil_Gecko's test is 994 frames faster the run that just got accepted, and if it's not optimized, then this glitch can save more than 1000 frames.
In Yoshi's Island 2 you get the Yoshi, but you loose it in Yoshi's Island 3, my question is, Isn't it possible to get the reserve goal sphere in YI 2 and not using the item swap to end the level earlier, then going through the next two stages normally, maybe not doing that wing warp in YI 3, and then you'll get to Iggy's castle with the reserve item and don't have to back track to get the reserve goal sphere again.
These reserve goal sphere... can it be used in bowser's Castle too?
Edit.: Hahaha... it can, but nothing happens. Mario is just sent back to the castle entrance.
This movie is good, but to be honest i was more impressed with the first movie. Maybe using Chun-Li and Sakura could be a good movie, or maybe Chun Li and Guy or Chun Li and Honda...
Thanks for posting your script, Dessyreqt, and it would be exactly what i want if it didn't skip the entire Elevator Transition. I'd like an scrip that skips only that black screen from the elevator transition. Thanks anyway!
