With the way the RNG is, I figured a TAS of this game would be a bad idea. I was pleasantly surprised to find out I was wrong. Good stuff, so yes vote. :)

Regardless of little optimizations that could be made, I definitely enjoyed watching this. I especially liked the blind shots, using rubber bullets to tank exploding zombies, and kicking ABC Warbots. Good stuff all around, so I voted yes.

These are great but I'm 1000x more interested in TASing FE5. Movement growth + movement stars = some pretty ridiculous antics like moving Leaf 30 spaces before getting danced.
There's already a TAS of Thracia 776 on Nico Video somewhere. I don't have the link and I think it was SSS instead of any%, but I bring it up because it's actually more boring to watch than you'd expect. Leaf and Dean with huge movement and re-move is great fun for a while, but the novelty wears off and things go downhill from there. Maybe that's just me though? Anyway, about Seisen, I have my doubts whether it would make a good choice for a TAS. I see it as being in a similar boat as 11, because the RNG in Seisen is mostly fixed and you can't mess with it quickly at all (as far as I know). So you'd basically be using a segmented run's strategies except with TAS precision. Then once you get a third of the way into Chapter 5, the game just falls apart with Rescue glitch spam. And while that will be amusing for a while, I think it'd be a little silly to think it won't get really old for many people. I'd love to see any run of this game, but I'm just not sure it's the best idea. (I secretly hope somebody can prove me wrong though!)

While I like that you're working on this game, I'm not sure that a TAS is a good idea due to how the RNG works. It just seems like you'll be at a massive disadvantage compared to a standard segmented run and I don't see it ending well. I see Marth is already down 2 strength and 1 defense, so that's concerning too. My memory is fuzzy, but I'm fairly sure there was something important about gaining strength almost every level early on. Have you made sure to check boss stats to find out if you're still on track? As for Hard 5, I figured a TAS would just use the "Warp Sheeda, kill boss, Warp Marth, and win" strategy for a bunch of chapters. Trying to imitate a Normal run's solo Marth plan would only end in tears anyway.

Sadly, I have to agree with sgrunt about the chances of this game getting a published TAS. A run that doesn't save any passengers is certainly not entertaining enough. Going for the best ending with a character might have a shot though, simply because there's a decent amount of route planning and luck manipulation involved. As for your SMV, it shows a lot of room for improvement. I won't nag every little movement choice here, but a few things stand out: - The introduction stuff could be made more entertaining by simply speaking to the other passengers while you wait. Jeffrey has far too much downtime for dancing to be a good idea. (That is, unless it helps with luck manipulation.) - The game really handed you some rotten luck on that first boat turn. You really need to find a way to manipulate this, because this is the most important factor in getting a good time for a worst ending run. - The room right before the boiler room will always be at that angle, so there's no need to slow down and wait for a boat turn. Also, in that same room, the climbing was really unoptimized. Your dude's hands should touch the left corner of each block on the way up every time. - The first jump in the boiler room was rough. Just jump when you pass the mid-way mark of that second barrel and you won't need to release the D-pad (you won't hit the wall either). - On the ladder before the two hook platforms, if you jump to the right at the very top, you'll grab the first hook. It's quicker than pulling yourself up first and then jumping over. - It's worth noting that if the boiler explodes, you weren't moving fast enough. Just pointing that out, because it's a pretty easy way to gauge your speed. Anyway, here's a link to a mock TAS I did back in July of last year. Completes the game in 3:10, so hopefully you can take some tips from it.

Good to see someone take interest in this game. Alucard posted some speed run attempts at different stages in this game, so you may want to check them out and take some ideas: Stage 1 Stage 2 Stage 3 Stage 4 Have you considered using some of the special moves for this run? Particularly, the roll (up, up-left/right, left/right?). From what I remember, you can roll right through stuff, so it may be useful for speed. At the very least, it would be cool to use in boss fights for style points when dodging. The other one that comes to mind was the stab attack (left or right + attack). Not useful for speed, but maybe you could add it in there as a way to create some variety in your attacks (during the elevator sequence, for sure)? I think it only does normal slash damage though, sadly.

I know I've mentioned this before (several times?), but holding A should work just fine for that. Then again, I haven't played this game in ages. Chapter 1 looked good otherwise. I do kind of wish you'd try Hard mode instead, but I guess that might require bending SRAM rules or something. Pure speed (Normal) is good too though, of course. :) (I don't have any real interest in the planning part of this. Sorry.)

I tried skimming the topic for this game and didn't see it mentioned, so I'm going to add Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon to the list. I honestly find it so wrong that it hasn't been mentioned yet, considering the game is so fast. Somewhere around 10 - 13 minutes for Normal mode and probably not much more for Hard 5. If you can get used to the rapid blackouts from enemy phase skipping, a TAS should be quite entertaining (especially Hard 5, for those familiar with it in normal play). I'm definitely biased though, so take that with a grain of salt. :P

I'm not looking forward to all that much from the Saturn, but I really would like to see any of the Langrisser games get a TAS. I'm aware that I and II are available for older consoles (and would probably be easier to make a proper TAS with), but Der Langrisser is so much better/faster on the Saturn. Enemies don't spend an eternity thinking of where to move the cannon fodder. :P Though I have to admit, a TAS of Langrisser III would probably be amazingly stupid and boring.

An Adamantium Rage TAS is finally here! Thank you, mmbossman. Also, I'd recommend against playing the SNES version. I know the Genesis version sucks, but the SNES game is so much worse. Then again, crazy stunts might actually make the game watchable. :P Anyway, easy yes vote from me.

Congratulations on the completed TAS Cheetah, you ungrateful...er, I mean what? :P Seriously though, I just watched the rest of it (from 18 on), and it looked good. I have to wonder if you could have killed that last eyeball in 18 quicker and/or had Vanessa wait farther down in 21 though. Other than that, an obvious yes vote from me.

I haven't watched past Chapter 17 yet, but I've noticed you still aren't holding A for enemy phases (according to the input display, that is). Why is this?

Sorry, but I know for sure that it isn't a Streets of Rage game (I've played them quite a bit). First level in 3 was a warehouse, by the way. :P I'd also like to mention (to be sure) that it isn't a Golden Axe game, since I've played the three for the Genesis. I plan to look through another ton of screenshots later, but I'm thinking this one might be a lost cause.

Sorry, but that's not it. I did manage to find the first game I mentioned though, through some serious searching of game screenshots. Turns out the game I was looking for is called "Koi wa Balance - Battle of Lovers", and is for the Bandai Satellaview. Made by Squaresoft, oddly enough. Had no luck with the second game I mentioned though. Perhaps I'm crazy.

Out of curiosity, I'd like to figure out the names of two games I played many years back. I don't remember very much, so I apologize for possibly being vague. What I seem to remember: Game 1: - SNES/Genesis (likely SNES). - Board game. - Involved taking your girlfriend around a city and doing stuff like seeing movies (I think). Since there were other couples around, I suppose the idea was to be one smooth dude? - Had random tiles where some really fat woman would show up, as some sort of negative effect. - Upon completion of the game, I think it showed a picture (of the girl?) and had either text or credits scrolling over it. Generic sounding, I know. Game 2: - SNES/Genesis (not sure which). - "Beat 'em up." - Two playable characters? - One of the characters was a woman in a rather skimpy white bikini (guess which one I played). - The first level (?) was some sort of factory, with blueish metal pipes to walk on and a red background. Not really much to go on (especially the second game), but hopefully someone knows what I'm talking about.

Wow. I had no idea he had a YouTube account. Too bad I'm not a Trigger fan (though I subscribed anyway). Also, I guess it's ok for me to add a link to mine in here: http://youtube.com/YayMarsha Consists entirely of Fire Emblem videos at the moment, with all but one of them being of Thracia 776 (mainly SSS, if someone cares). This will likely change in the future though.

I just thought I'd mention that holding A (as I think you should've been doing all along, but only noticed during Chapter 10) cancels the stuff with ease. Perhaps there is some frame thing I don't know about, but that's what I've always done and it works just fine. I imagine it would make things a lot easier to fix. As for your Javelin issue, I have no idea. I'm not good at the specifics like this, but I just know I bought 10 and managed (1 extra?). Obviously doesn't help you much, but oh well.

Hard to get a lot of entertainment value out of a game with as few moves as this game has, but I think you guys did a pretty good job overall. I didn't find most of the Axel/Blaze fighting very amusing, but that knife throw into the police special was awesome. I have to wonder if using a police special in Round 7 would've spiced things up though (rather than just suiciding 30 times over), since the idea of firing through the building is absurd. :) Anyway, yes vote from me because I liked it.

I guess I'll go ahead and post this here, since I'm not actually going to do a TAS of it (therefore a topic would be a waste). The link is to version two of a "mock-TAS" of Wolverine: Adamantium Rage (far different than the SNES version). I think it does a pretty good job of showing the game's potential in this area, since Wolverine has a decent variety of moves and some good ones for increasing his movement speed (rolling and diving). Also worth noting is that I didn't know he could use his claws to climb ladders faster until Shinobi Shaw's stage (which I found out about by accident). Good potential for damage boosting to save time as well (Cyber's stage). Just thought I'd throw that out there, with the hope that someone gains enough interest in the game to do a TAS. :)

First of all, I have to admit I have absolutely no experience with this game. Yes, I'm being a hypocrite, but I guess this is important enough to make an exception for. I vote "no", because the movie was basically a snore-fest to me. I liked the baseball part and jumping over the huge holes, but from what I read, I was expecting actual comedic value of some sort. Turns out there was very little for my sense of humor. Doesn't seem site worthy to me, for lack of entertainment and probably goals too. Just joking around with no set purpose doesn't work for me. :/

This is incorrect. There is another version of Stage X that will warp you back to Level 2; I stumbled across it when I froze the clock using cheats. It's been a while since I played, so I forgot the level that has this trap stage...
Interesting, since in my many playthroughs, I've never seen such a thing. Doesn't seem to make logical sense to warp to Stage 2 (to me), but I guess I should play around with the game some more and see if I can find it. Also, while this is something I didn't think was possible anyway, I decided to test saving David in Stage 3 with tools (Game Master and Easy). Nothing I did caused a Stage 4 skip, and I even tried some sort of crazy pacifist idea (when just time didn't do it) on the Teddy Bear with some crazy logic in mind. I'm not sure if it was just me, but when it comes to going up through doors while morphed, I had to jump at the right time. The game will suck you in at some point of your jump. I suppose this could be because even if you hug the upper wall, he still has to move a bit to get through upper doors. [Edit]: I see what you mean about the "trap" versions of Stage X, but for me, it takes me back one Stage each time. It also produces odd scene placement, with Jennifer's "hiding from the monster" scene showing up the first time I did it (from Stage 5, I believe). It also goes directly to Stage X when you do it, with no scenes at all beforehand. It appears to be an anti-cheating tool, if you ask me. The reason I say this is because if you allow just 1 second to pass before the Stage ends, you will proceed as normal. If the clock is perfectly at the initial time, you go backwards. Obviously, this wouldn't be possible without cheating, so that is what makes me think that. Also, while you can't skip Stage 4 (to my knowledge), you can skip Stage 3. The only problem is, it seems to require going to Stage 2. Pretty interesting, since I had never done this skip before. I was playing on Easy (just because it's not as tedious) and by killing the Boreworm with 3:00 or higher on the clock, I was able to go directly to the basement. Might be worth doing that instead, since Stage 3 is likely longer than Stage 2. Then again, wasting time to let Jennifer get infected would be a factor to consider as well. As a neat side-note, they somehow managed to screw up David's name in the Stage 3 skip scene. "Davids!" :)

--Bosses (and certain other enemies) will always (pretty sure) do some sort of jump, slide, warp, or charge to get away from a wall. These movements are the same distance each time they're used. (like the first boss will do some spin jump and land a set distance horizontally, the second boss will do a slide and move a set distance away, etc.) It also takes the same amount of time for the attacks. This should make it relatively easy to kill them.
I like using this to kill the "Evil One" in Stage 5, personally. Jump kick to knock him down, get him in the loop, and kill with headbutts/choking. Good fun.

--I haven't confirmed this, but places like GameFAQs talk about skipping levels by beating a level fast enough. They say it doesn't work on the first level (coincidentally, the only level I've gotten to LEVEL X after), but should work on every level after it. All it is, really, is a short, untimed level with a few jaw monsters and extra lives in it. If the level skip is true, it may be worth it to beat the levels fast enough to get to LEVEL X as much as possible.
Level skip (to my knowledge) only works on Stage 1, and I mentioned this earlier. Just beat Stage 1 fast enough that the Boreworm doesn't get his chance to infect Jennifer, and you'll go to an alternate Stage X than usual. This one has no map and multiple rooms, but ends when you kill the boss. Obviously, you'll skip Stage 2 because the Boreworm didn't do anything. Stage X after that is always the same 1 room place with powerup goodies and usually fatty monsters. I've done the Stage 2 skip many times, but I've never skipped anything else, so I don't believe it's possible. Like I said before though, if you can find some effective way to skip the standard Stage X types, you'd probably save time.

Well, sad to say, but the game (U.S. version at least) is still pitifully easy on Game Master. :/ I'm not sure if you'd want to make this a goal of your movie, but to add entertainment value, you might want to consider going for the Stage 2 skip version of Stage X that comes after Stage 1. The reason is because last time I checked (with emulator slowdown), you get about 10 seconds of error on Game Master. Because of this, I've never done it in realtime on that difficulty (though Normal and possibly Difficult are simple enough). Also, I'm not sure if it's a good idea to skip the other versions of Stage X or not, since they suck quite a load of time. The problem is, they seem to be a natural reward for not playing like an idiot, which makes them difficult to avoid (or so it seems). I'm not sure exactly what you need to do to trigger them though.

Being the Splatterhouse fan I am, I would love to see this (this one is my favorite). I likely can't add much, but I would like to point out that the Gut Launcher (my name for the Monster Rick power attack, not counting the piledriver) only requires you to press back, forward, back, and the attack button. I'm not familiar with frame counts, but wouldn't that make it 4 frames instead of 5? Also, just to put this out there, the Japanese version of this game has a Roundhouse instead of the Spin Kick and the move is very fast, but does pathetic damage. In Monster Rick form, using the Gut Launcher consumes a large amount of your power gauge. There's also some Engrish (if that's the term), for anybody who cares. :) I just thought I'd throw that out there, in case that means anything to which version you use. Personally, the Japanese version was more annoying then truly difficult, so I'd stick with the U.S. version on Game Master.

Looks good to me. There is one thing I want to suggest, but I'm not sure if it's actually faster. When you move Orson in range of the Archer the first time, shouldn't you equip him (through trade, I guess) with a Javelin? I notice you go through 2 extra battles because you spare his life. Since Orson gains little experience anyway, it seems logical to get him off your back. Then again, I'm not good with these sorts of frame count specifics, so it could be faster to let him bully Orson. [Edit]: Disregard all that. Nitrodon told me Orson can't kill in one shot without a 3% critical. Not worth manipulating.
