Strange, maybe there's a different timing on the first cycle. I really hope you finish it, you've done such nice work of it so far.

I really like your strategy for the Chapter 6 boss, but I was wonder, can't you get another hit in on the first cycle of the fight? It seems like the chinese TAS has been removed or something, and that's really sad. But are you sure you won't be able to finish the TAS? You're only 5-6 screens away from the end of chapter 7, and the final bosses shouldn't be difficult to figure out.

Really solid work so far, the last part of Chapter 4 was really cool to watch! I'm curious to see what you're planning for the Chapter 6 boss, as it's horribly slow without the homing fireballs and infinite ninpo, since you can hit him 4 times every cycle with it.

You can also cancel climb over the first wall at the end of the first screen in chapter 4, also to get over the wall at the start of the last screen in chapter 7. Both should save times. There are other places too, but I don't know how much time they would save. Atleast in chapter 4 and 6.

I'm really happy to see that someone has decided to improve this TAS, as I've been wanting one for ages, without having the determination to make it myself. There are a bunch of places where you can use, what I call cancel climbing, to get past screens faster. Cancel climbing is something you can do as you wall jump. If you use a ninpo at the correct time, you cancel your outwards momentum, and can get back to the wall, gaining height, effectively climbing the wall. It's tough to do in a RTA, but worth doing a couple of spots. The main problem with it, is that it requires ninpo to do, but since you can get infinite ninpo fairly quickly by increasing your ninpo to 999, it's not really an issue. I also stumbled across this once or twice: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/49391400 Not really sure what happens there, but what I think happens, is that you fall through the floor, and start screenwrapping vertically really fast. You can still get through the level, but you're invisible and enemies don't hurt you. I've theorized that it's possible to do on any screen without a pitfall, but that might not be accurate. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions about this game, as I've been playing it for a few years now, and know a lot about it. I can't wait to see the new and improved TAS. I really think it can go sub 14.

Is there a reason why the European version is used? The submission doesn't say anything about it.
The SMS version of the game was only released in PAL regions (Europe and Brazil).
Brazil had 60hz consoles (with the PAL palette). So there is no reason for this TAS to be PAL, and not NTSC. It's the same ROM because on SMS, it's the console that decides the speed, not the cart.

The brazilian ROM is the same as the PAL one. On the Master System, it's the console that decides the hertz.

Just finished watching through it, and despite it being in 50hz, excellent work! However, there are some screenwraps you didn't utilize in stage 7. This one: https://youtu.be/0vGohFn_mVo?t=1150 And another one you can do at the bottom of the spike room, where you can take damage on the spikes on the sides, and skip the entire next room. Which is too dangerous for a speedrun, but definitely a decent timesaver for the TAS.

Sega Master System games released in Brazil are official releases for a 60hz console. So if you plan on making a SMS TAS on what you think is a PAL only SMS game, please check if the game was released in Brazil before starting to make a PAL TAS.

Why did you do the TAS at PAL speeds? Lucky Dime Caper was released in Brazil where they have 60hz consoles.

Is Hourglass still being worked on? I was wondering what possibilities there are of getting compatibility with Castle of Illusion HD, as I'm really wanting to make a TAS of it.

Lots of frame perfect tricks, and it looks really nice. Vote = yes.
