It would be easier to just compare the different parts (texts). It wouldn't be 100% accurate though.

For anyone that cares, sm64.org is hosting an SM74 (hack) competition here. The discussion topic can be found here. Here's my run for Task 1 (1st place): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNiDHvU7jJg
Could someone send me the patched rom? I would like to test this hack out.

How immature can this be (from both sides)?

There is a huge difference between "these minor things could be better" or "a little more optimization is required" and the run he posted. This shouldn't be called a TAS IMO. Should we be glad that he didn't include a death?

I find it quite offending that people are directly telling charles1q2w that he should burn in hell or that his TASes suck. Instead, in spite of what he did earlier, couldn't you just tell him how to improve his work?
I can't see how he put any serious effort into this. The level of SM64-TAS is high and if someone wants to make a good TAS should read and watch first. His material doesn't worth uploading here, instead of that he should practice. If he just makes these runs for fun it is OK, that doesn't mean he should force everyone to become a great TASer. P.S. My non-TAS runs are much better than his TAS. Sorry if this sounds arrogant but it is true.

You can make it up the slope without the Yoshi's triple jump. It is just slower. The route has been used for years.

Can you keep the momentum through doors, cutscenes etc, or only in the water?

Nice textures. For the island in the sky it could have been faster if you'd do a "stand" long jump near the bridge to gain some speed so that you can get with a second long jump to the island. This wall kick seems slow.

This is a video I recorded long ago to check how solid are some walls. It shows that you can pass through some walls with high-speed. It may be interesting for a TAS. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L02iexMZGBk

This is even slower than the non-TAS run from Myles.

If you trick the game to think it is another game, maybe you could play super mario galaxy! :P

I just watched your run SL. Excellent work as always. I really enjoyed the HR-textures and the encoding. Is it possible to load them with pj64?

How about the wall-kicks to build up speed?

Can you leave the pillar and travel with hyper-speed? Maybe it will be more time consuming to build up that speed but it is worth it to test it. Another idea I came up with is that you can actually can get more stars capless if you wall-kick and "fly" through walls that need the vanish cap: Course 5, Big Boo's Haunt (1) - Eye to Eye in the Secret Room Course 10, Snowman's Land (1) - Into the Igloo

Correct me if Im wrong, and I am 90% sure that I am, but could you make the koopa appear if you did chainchomp's gate, then selected that star?
You are 100% wrong! :P You have to beat KtQ (=get both 2 first stars) to make little koopa appear.

I loved KtQ and the way you jump with him over the balls!

Ah, but we still needed the first three BoB stars for the Koopa shell to appear.
You just need the first two stars for making Koopa Troopa appear. Why did you get "Shoot to the Island in the Sky"?
I was thinking about the same thing. Maybe it is faster than other stars in the basement? To make MIPS appear sooner?
