I just got this game a few days ago and it is pretty good. I would really like to see a TAS of it. It shouldn't be too hard to make because the only buttons you need to use are the L and R buttons to countrol DK's hands or move left or right. Since you don't need to use the d-pad this game has fewer inputs per frame required than most NES games.

I'm sorry if I'm wrong, but isn't it against the forumrules to request/beg for movies? I thought I read something like that in the rules.

I was going to try it, but the game freezes up when I get to the Treacherous Twister level in the second area. It does it on both the US and EU versions. Since I can't get past there, I couldn't continue I did a test run of the first area. You can grab it here if you wanna take a look. Bear in mind this is only a test and would need a lot of improvement, but it's still pretty fast. I'm not sure it would make a good movie. It's pretty boring.

If a GBA game crashes that probably means you need to use a BIOS file to play it. If you try that and it still doesn't work, keep in mind that there are different versions of GBA BIOS files... see http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2943

It still freezes up at that level with the "normal" bios or the "TS2" bios. Exactly the same as before. Oh well.

I think I remember someone saying something about Visual Boy Advance not being able to correctly emulate this game. The game should work on other GBA emulators but none of them have rerecording support.

Actually, it looks like VBA 1.8 is fixing this bug. Just have to merge some of their fixes in, maybe when 1.8 is no longer still in beta. (In the meantime if you just want to play it on an emulator without recording it, supposedly you just need to get 1.8.0 beta 3.)

There's a problem with the roms, or maybe it's an emulator issue. Nonetheless it seems like it would make a good TAS.

I recently beat this game with the maximum percentage 145%. These percents include: -Beating "Adventure" with all DK Medals and Crystal coconuts. -Beating all 15 "Single Player Jungle Jam" events and get Gold DK medals on all of them. -Beat "Diddy Mode" with all DK medals.

I love how the concept of 100% has become increasingly meaningless as the DK series has progressed.

Yeah me too. Just a few minutes ago I somehow got up to 148% while playing the game so I'm assuming there's more than 145%. Edit: Heres a preview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pd4N-xkNEwk

I tested this game once, and there's some left/right glitch with the barrels (I think) that makes you stand in midair. But I don't know if it can be of use. I lost my own attempt some time ago, unfortunately...

I wonder if it will work on VBA 20? BTW, I figured out that getting a gold DK medal on time attack raises percents.

VBA20 is not recommended due to desync problems. You should use VBA 19 instead.

I know it desyncs, I learned that the hard way, but if it works fine on VBA 20 we could look into both versions of VBA, figure out the problem and fix it.

The highest percent you can get is 200%

W00t!!! The game finally works. I threw together a little WIP of World 1 the second I figured this out. World 1 You have to use GBA BIOS as opposed to the Emulator's bios. Also this code to make Treacherous Twister work correctly: 030004A0:00 (thanks to NES Boy on DKC atlas for the find)

Great ! I think this game has a high TASing potential. Could you share the vbm please ? BTW, did you actually reach 200 % ? Well, I have to admit I never managed to reach such a percentage.

I would but the VBM is on another comp right now. also I haven't got 200% on my cartridge yet because you have to get gold medals on time attack with DK and Diddy. Maybe I or someone will get around to a 200% run. I would definitely do it. I'm also redoing the WIP once I get the chance.

first thing I do in W3 will be that. I remember that in Pokemon R/B it saves time to be in low health but everyone hated the constant low HP alarm.

It's basically an action puzzle games in which you control DK hands to swing around walls, pegs and switches. the main game with both DK or Diddy is pretty short but the 200% would be much more complete and show much of the game's content. i'm trying to find the character's optimal climbing in order to avoid losing speed but swinging as few times as possible through RAM search but i have been unable to get anything besides what i believe to be the current height of the character
TAS i'm interested: Megaman series, specially the RPGs! Where is the mmbn1 all chips TAS we deserve? Where is the Command Mission TAS? i'm slowly moving away from TASing fighting games for speed, maybe it's time to start finding some entertainment value in TASing.
