Thankfully, this game has even more revamps and other stuff than its predecessors so a run might be accepted: You have to battle both Groudon and Kyogre; Layouts of some places have been changed; Two-on-two battles happen more frequently and randomly. Say, do you get credits again if you beat all challenges in the Battle Frontier?
Why, oh, why do I even try to understand my own species?

Although the story is a bit different, it's still essentially the same base. I think this might end up being just a longer version of the Sapphire run. So unless some useful glitches or other breaks are discovered I don't see much point in doing this game while the current one is still up. Double battles are pretty fun, but then, that's a case where it's more fun to play than to watch. Can't answer your question.

Looking at the gym leaders list the pokemon of choice should be a Treecko. Also, the Trainer-fly/teleport/dig/escape rope glitch is possible on Emerald so it could be use to glitch pokemon like, say, a strong fire type or ice type for the Elite 4. Also, you actually don't battle Groudon or Kyogre until the Elite 4 have been defeated.

IMO, Treecko is the worst of the starters. 1. His only good move is Leaf Blade 2. The only gym leaders that Treecko and his evo's can defeat are Gym 1 (rock) and maybe gym 8 (water). Either choose Torchic (would be a bitch at the first gym, unless you lv up for iron claw) or Mudkip. Game differences compared to r/s: - You fight both Team Aqua and Magma (Team Magma having his own base at Mt. Chimney) - Team Magma double battle with Steven as your partner at the Space Center - New 8th gym leader - Original 8th gym leader replaces Steven as the E4 Champion - Battle Frontier and a few more things Best bet would be to get Rayquaza after the Groundon/Kyogre clash. That way you can sweep the E4+Champion with Rayquaza. You must give Rayquaza an electric attack for those water pokemon though.

Tthe game doesnt register the trainer so, you could press start in that split second of timing.

As far as I know, "Trainer-Fly glitch" has been fixed since GSC. So is this some other kind of glitch?

Its just theoretical, but there is a small amount of time after you go on the square to when the ! symbol appears.

So, it would possibly work. I will test this soon.

the glitch won't work, because you can't call the menu while you walk.

Not as far as I know. A far more worthy game to TAS would be Pokemon Red, with the newly discovered save glitch.

With the glitch found by him of course.

Can you convince us that you can actually beat the game? You can say all you want about 6 L100 Charizards having Move 0 with 0 PP with the game going crazy after the first battle. All of that is worthless unless you beat the game. I haven't thought too much about Pokemon Emerald, considering that I'm trying to work on an improvement for Pokemon Sapphire. I hope that by using a new strategy, the run can go under 1:35:11.

That would be very nice. Also, Emerald isn't that much different from Sapphire, maybe it's a bit redundant?

That's a rather specific number. How'd you get there? I'll try to use the save glitch to my advantage and produce a test run.

It's the time from my Pokemon Yellow submission. It was partly a joke. I do want Sapphire to be faster than the fastest possible Yellow run but lately it appears that it won't happen.

Ooh I'd love to see a Pokemon Emerald TAS. Some situations might be harder for Torchic and Mudkip: Torchic: He's great at the Elite Four against Sidney and Glacia (Double Kick/Sky Uppercut away!). Aerial Ace comes in handy against Ludicolo (although I wasted it on my GBA Cartridge) while Rock Tomb would work against Altaria and Salamence. The problem with having to deal with Wallace's Pokemon as Blaziken is that even when your Blaziken is at Level 70 it can still faint in one hit (If a Critical Hit Occurs). Mudkip: Ah, what can he do against Wallace's Pokemon? Since it becomes a Ground Type, this might become a tough situation unless you go with Breloom or Macoke. Tentaruel and Gyarados would probably wipe out Breloom. Treecko: Worst Choice But seriously, where the heck am I supposed to find a Pokemon Emerald Rom which isn't a hack? I swear I wouldn't play the Emerald 386 Rom, because the starter Pokemon you get are Treecko, Cyndaquil, and Squirtle. Why couldn't they keep Torchic and Mudkip and replace Treecko with Bulbasaur? I was thinking about doing a TAS of it as well... With Torchic. If we go with Emerald 386, I have to deal with tons of re-recording finding Torchic om Route 104 and Bulbasaur at Petalburg Woods. Starter Pokemon are Rare even in the 386 Hack.
I like Doraemon

Hacks aren't allowed for TASing. Though, I admit it's hard to find a non-hack rom of Emerald.

Off topic: Amazing, I made a guess and it turns out that I was sort of true. The trainer fly glitch is possible on DP if you know how to do it. Sorry for off topic post

There is one which isn't a hack. You may have white-screen issues; it's the same issue as for the Sapphire ROM. Otherwise, keep looking. My post from the other thread applies here: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=146135#146135 Anyone doing this run should consider using Geodude and learning Metronome.

Rridgway, got any proof for that statement of yours? How, exactly, is "how to do it"?
