It was my first TAS on FCEUX and I was so excited that I forgot that taking fire flower wastes time, but it made my first TAS special as it spawned a glitched green block at 1-2.

Please don't judge it as a mature movie, it was a 14 yr old's play...

Can some one tell me how this glitch works???

The encode you linked is "TAS NES Super Mario Bros. 'Fire Mario in 5:8.541 by Mr.TASer".

As I mentioned,i took fire flower. Hence, I named it to the most familiar branch

Oh I see. I was confused because the TASVideos site says 05:12.86 while your encode is 5:8.541 and also that naming.

The glitch appears at 0:57 .

I think the half green block is just a visual artifact. Not sure what caused it, but here's an analysis of visual sprites from the encode:

- from 4 frames earlier before the green block gets drawn: 4 block debris, 3 goomba, 200 and 100 (9)

- next frame: 2 block debris, 2 goomba, 200 and 100 (6)

- next frame: 1 block debris, 2 goomba, 200 and 100 (5)

- next frame: same

- glitch frame 1: the left-side goomba gets arbitrarily cut off while the first column of green block appears

- glitch frame 2: left-side goomba gets "deleted" (should be shown on the screen under normal conditions)

The green block and coin is on the same position as earlier in 1-2 and also later.

Thanks for the info, I was looking for it from 2020... I had TASed SMB with a super sonic cheat in which i hit a block before it could appear on screen and that block also got the appearance like in this TAS. I think the bug only happens with the sonic speed 0x85F2 (you wrote B but I think it's 8).

What I mean is the game unable to keep up with the speed of Mario's movement, which results in that particular green sprites (for example the background clouds)

I'm not an expert at this game but my observations are based on my NES ~Teasing~ (autocorrect lol) TASing experience.
