Sorry, I'm new here, but is anyone making an any% TAS, or is not possible for whatever reason? I've recently gotten into SMS, and after hearing about the Pinna 5 Skip, I kind of want to learn how to TAS this game.

Rather clever way to skip fruit storage. Speaking of which, would fruit storage still be faster?

Sorry for the dumb questions but is there any reason why this hasn't been submitted to TASVideos yet then? And is this the most optimal route including Pinna 5 skip (or whatever everyone wants to call it)? I've try to read as much as this forum as I possibly could since I do plan on at least attempting to TAS this game.

Isn't the italian version faster? That was done on the japanese version. Unless of course the italy post was a joke, which in that case ignore this please.

That TAS isn't entirely optimal, which is probably why it hasn't been submitted. The Bianco 5 RNG isn't perfect, for example. It does use the fastest route, except it doesn't have Pinna 5 skip since it was made a while ago. A new TAS should use the exact same route apart from in Pinna where you would do Pinna 5 Skip, which there is already a TAS of: http://youtu.be/nTnWaKFQeuw

Italian and Japanese are quite close in time for Any%, but the Japanese version is faster because it has quicker loading times for Delfino Plaza. The versions are NTSC-J > PAL (Italian) > NTSC-U or PAL (other languages) for Any%. The downside to the Japanese version is that Sirena 6 takes longer, but it's still faster overall.

You're right, and in fact, you reminded me that the author shared similar comments about the run in this upload:
re-records 46576 There are many improvable points in this run. For example, in Bianco Episode 5, the movement of the enemy is not fastest. I think 1:08:30 is possible.

Also, those Japanese TASers make up their own community. Some of them don't even know we exist.

Oh wow. Guess Japanese is the way to go, and looks like I'll start learning how to TAS this game so I can make an any% run (again, if no one's already doing one).

Instead of SA2B, Mapler and I have decided to TAS an any% run of this game, as we're rather familiar with SM64 TASing. Can someone more familiar with speed running this game go ahead and list all of the major tricks/skips/sequence breaks? That would be extremely helpful to us. It would also be great if someone used to memory address-locating could find the following addresses: - Mario's facing angle (what direction Mario is facing) - Mario's movement angle (what direction the stick is being held) - X position - Y position - Z position - Mario's speed value Thanks to anyone willing to help us get started!
This was posted 3 years ago, so I'm assuming sonicpacker and co. aren't working on one anymore? And does anyone actually know those memory addresses too?

Just wanted to say I am so thrilled someone from this site is finally picking this game up. Good luck man and I think it's safe to assume sonicpacker and co aren't or won't be working on this game for now. My bet is they are working on a new version of 0 star Mario64. I know sonicpacker has expressed interest working on Mario Galaxy. However, if he/they would team up, the more the merrier.

I don't think there is anyone working on a TAS right now. You should try talking to zelpikukirby: since he made the most recent TAS he might want to help with a new one, and also he might have the memory addresses you need.

I wanted to mention that on Pinna it is possible to get rocket #3 faster by 2 seconds, according to this video's description https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=az2pfPQO0LM I could never redo it but I know it's possible. Just saying for zelpiku or whoever. You have to spray into the sky or something, and you will mysteriously get a rocket, if successful.

I'm just saying you have to spray at the blue sky at some point. The water would drop to somewhere where there's a rocket. But it's so precise, I only got it once and when I retried for it I didn't manage to do it anymore.

timesaver for 20 shines and other categories https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfxHF2y-C5c EDIT: This might not actually save time because blue coins have to be skipped. The current 20 shines tas by zelpikukirby gets a blue bird coin and the jail coin. I'll leave it to other people to figure out what's the best thing to do (maybe get 1 blue in delfino, do that skip in the video, and get 1 elsewhere?) ----- Bianco windmill escape tas re-upload https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9iZlhlv7gw

For an improved 20 Shines TAS you could get this blue coin in Ricco: http://www.twitch.tv/sunshinecommunity/v/13797034?t=5m48s. You could also get the blue bird coin while opening Ricco instead of while fighting the Goop Piranha, maybe even without losing any time.

Here is a TAS I made for task 1, btw: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqFGUJXK-O8 Since it's slower than 1st place by a split second, I didn't want to make it public but I want to link it here so it's not forgotten. I made a TAS for task 2 which I'll post here once the task is over. --- Task 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9EJB1-IOl8

Pinna park 1-7 TAS by 大福(zelpikukirby) Link to video I liked the pinna 6 void strat. Unfortunately the faster pinna 1 missiles weren't used (the thing I was talking about). I still think it should be looked into. You can save like 3 seconds with it. Btw, I'm probably not going to continue TASing the tasks, sorry.

Nice to see zelpikukirby still TASing. I was wondering if we'd see any more awesome work from him. Was this completed before the Pinna 5 Skip was found, or does it turn out to be slower?
