We’re kind of 7 maps in (out of 11) for the Time Survival TAS by the way.
Nevermind gotta restart the whole run, I came up with another epic strat for M3 which is 719 frames which is exactly 11″ by 1 frame. This is actually an improvement of 2″ over what we were previously doing. The strat remains pretty similar to my WiP upload: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLm1V-Tbhlo [4:57:58] ALAKTORN: 723 for sure? [4:58:03] *** Julian sent IMG_04102014_045739.png *** [4:58:12] Julian: look at troll tank [4:59:19] ALAKTORN: we can’t OHKO AA instead of Arty with MD right? [4:59:24] ALAKTORN: 7HP then not enough for Arty OHKO [4:59:32] Julian: it is [4:59:39] Julian: yeah that would work [4:59:42] ALAKTORN: seriously? [4:59:45] Julian: 59f XD [4:59:45] ALAKTORN: 11″? O_o [4:59:45] Julian: yes [4:59:49] Julian: ja [4:59:49] ALAKTORN: holy shit man [4:59:51] ALAKTORN: no way [4:59:52] ALAKTORN: shut up [4:59:56] Julian: haha We’ve been spending the last 3 days working on this map restlessly, at first I found 2 strategies that almost gave 12″ but failed by very little, then Julian found one that works for 12″ and then I found the 11″ one. We’re still not done (I’m not quite yet at least). 10″ is most certainly impossible but there may be more strats for 11″ with more breathing room for luck or CO skills. Edit: OK new developments right as I post lol. [5:21:31] Julian: its 58f with inf suicide [5:21:39] Julian: dont need to target then [5:22:22] Julian: how about [5:22:32] Julian: md kills art, tank kills aa [5:22:39] Julian: and neo suicides in md [5:22:43] Julian: d5 win OK we’re already discussing a possible 10″ strat lol. More work to do… Edit2: it’s 8am and we haven’t slept and we found a 11″01frames strategy… unless the Inf suicide is impossible, whelp.

After 4 or whatever days working all day on that fucking map I am spent. We only got an 11″ strategy and we had to reTAS everything thus losing 33 or so frames in the first few maps (currently) because we only have 118 Atk now and not the 123 from the Road Rage skill for M1. A strategy with Road Rage for M3 is exactly 720 frames (12″ precisely), isn’t that fucking funny… There is more to try for M3 in theory but I honestly don’t know if we’ll bother. I need a break. Ah, our priority is in-game time that’s why I’m talking about seconds and not frames. Frames are optimized only after we max out the in-game seconds.

Hurray for me, I’ve killed another TAS with my strategies. We aren’t using an input file btw. The whole run’s botted. Also we’re stuck on M3 because we can’t figure out a pattern that’s come up in the RNG with the new strat. We need the AI to suicide a unit which is a 1 in 5829.02 chance, and that’s kind of hard to get if you can’t manipulate the RNG.

I’ve enconded our WiP for Time Survival. We actually have “TAS’d” up to M8, but since I found the better M3 strategy we went back, and couldn’t manipulate the RNG for it and got stuck. So the WiP is only up to M3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IM1of7jTHIE From the description: “We don’t know how to manipulate the RNG on M3. The AI is supposed to suicide the Mech, Infantry, and Tank, and move the AA where our Tank moves on the last day for the kill.” If you’re wondering why we enter Turn Survival at the start, that’s RNG manipulation. It’s obviously a lot slower in terms of real time, but like I’ve said before this TAS aims for the best possible in-game record, so our manipulation is for in-game time. The Neo suicide on M1 is probably a 1 in a couple thousands chance (going by memory), so there’s no way of getting it unless we manipulate the RNG before entering Time Survival (we calculated this), and it’s required for beating the map in 2 in-game seconds (otherwise you get 3 seconds). Edit: oh and yes, it’s kind of a NG+. There’d be little point in running Time Survival from clean SRAM.

I wonder how the RTA WR’s strategies compare to yours? Have you checked? :p

Mine are faster (mostly), although some of them require luck abuse. On the other hand the non-TAS speedrun uses all skills, so some KOs won't require luck (with +8 direct attack, +10 road attack, +8 partner attack etc). Non-TAS differences that I can think of: M6 is faster if you go for 4 days. M16, with skills you only need a COP to destroy the minicannons, so you don't have to bother with sacrificing units in the SE. M20 requires less luck if you go for 7-day cap instead of 5-day rout. M19 and M22 require luck abuse (definitely >1 reload on average). For M22 the luck abuse is for hitting the Megatank to low health for Power, so in an unranked run it won't matter (I think). M28 requires heavy luck abuse for the top screen, and to get the Ooziums to move favorably. I think a non-TAS speedrun will require a different strat, since if the top screen takes too long, the 3rd Oozium will spawn and you can't lock the bases.

TAS of Mission 5. I had a new strat that didn't require SCOP, so I thought I'd just try to learn how to TAS while making the vid. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjBMHivHD_8&lc=z13ahljjwyjcjzcmu22zcd1xbzzycvleq I'm not sure if I'm using both stylus & buttons effectively, maybe you'd like to comment, ALAKTORN? - At the start of each day there are 3 lag frames, I guess that's related to music. - I tap on a unit to select it, then tap on the tile that it has to move to 2 frames later. Sometimes a graphical glitch happens where the unit turns into the last unit selected for 1 frame, and you can only tap the target tile 3 frames later. I haven't looked into what causes this yet, but most of the time it happens if I tap a unit on a base at the start of my turn. - Each tile that you move uses 6 frames, then there's 1 more frame at the end before you can press A to fire/wait. - After pressing A to fire, I press A 11 frames later to confirm the target. I haven't tested selecting different targets yet. - Moving a unit 1 tile is different. Tapping the target tile 2 frames later doesn't work. Instead I tap the unit, press the direction on the D-pad 2 frames later, then press A 3 frames later. Is there a better way of doing this? - Tapping a base to build units causes 1 lag frame, my guess is that the game has to figure out which units you can build (e.g. you can't build anything bigger than a Tank in M5, and in later missions you might not have BBs/Piperunners unlocked). - To build a unit, I tap the base, then tap the unit 3 frames later. If the next action is to end the turn, I press Select 4 frames later. - To end the turn I press Select, then tap End 1 frame later. - I don't know anything about the RNG other than it advances for each frame that you wait before firing, at the start of the enemy turn, and in dialogues. Does it depend on the internal clock (I'm guessing not) or path-drawing like in FE?

Man, uh, you’re doing movement all wrong. Manually TASing this game is stupid at this point, just use our TAS bot. Lag reduction still needs to be manually figured out, read up on my WWN notes about it. http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/21819933019508761 I’m not 100% sure how you could make it work for NC, but probably just changing an address in tasbot.lua with the NC map ID counter should work. main.lua is where you code your strategy in and run it for the TAS bot to TAS. Read around the files to figure out how it works. You could try streaming it on Twitch so I could teach you how to use it. Here is the Watch file I use, should help: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/21820147892448536 /// Forgot to mention it’s for USA ROM. Edit: now that I think about it, I think we never coded the TAS bot to work on maps with scrolling. Also btw scrolling is fastest when done with the B button. Unless you’re lucky and L selects the correct unit, I guess. Edit2: anyway all of your questions can be answered if you read my notes on WWN. Edit1000: now that I think about it the TAS bot may only work on the USA version. Hmm.

Don’t know why I made this, but TASing with the TAS bot is so easy that I did it anyway. Link to video

I could definitely watch an entire TAS of this. I love the overhead, bird's eye view of the battle map. Keep it up!

I forgot how important was to charge the CO power for the Turn Survival, that you have to squeeze all the units you can sacrifice or kill to fill that meter ASAP. Say Alaktorn, are you planning on going for a TAS of the full course? (that would be great, even if you don't plan to submit the run here)

Not really. As of right now I don’t even know the strategy to get the 16 turns record, but I’m interested in replicating it. That interest is what made me TAS the first map, so who knows, maybe I’ll TAS something more of it even if I don’t really plan to. And yeah, everything that happens is necessary to charge Sami’s 3-stars COP that’s needed for M2. You have 35 luck and Arty on Sub does 67% (partner attack skills) and have to kill it. The Cruiser always does 3HP to the Black Boat so that’s not hard to get, damage range is 30%–39% I believe…

Was trying to TAS TuS 2 but the bot is fundamentally flawed. Scrolling the screen is a mess and introduces manuality. I could TAS it but I’d rather not waste time on something that should be possible automatically.

(War Room) Banker Hills 1.0 5/300 with Colin + Flak proof of concept. Uses RNG cheatcodes to have favorable outcomes, you can follow along because I captured the Lua window that prints the RNG. It was never math’d out if Flak could get the score or not, so I went and made this. The vid is muted because I can’t run the game at 60fps btw. Link to video RNG Lua script used in the vid (USA ROM only): http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/27870229146523304 That script is already contained within the TASBot I’ve posted before, but since it’s annoying to have the script randomly press inputs while you’re just trying to view the RNG I took the RNG info and put it in the new script.

So I grabbed the AWDS Tasbot for reasons and found that the first line of the script is
require 'resources'
what 'resources' are required? I didn't see anything additional in the thread or in Alk's userfiles...

Hello. The resources file required is here :) http://www.mediafire.com/file/tei0kc3hcz5lrqe/resources.lua

Yes, but I'm not sure it'll work because this run relies on a save file (to have the CO skills unlocked). User movie #72609130163760222
