About the game

PuyoPuyo is the most popular puzzle game in Japan. The second version was very popular, and it was transplanted by many consoles. The big difference with the previous version is that Sousai and Zenkeshi. Because they were added, PuyoPuyo became a more strategic play game.

About the run

Speed up

I set "VS COM LEVEL" in HARDEST to accelerate both drop speed.

Zenkeshi (All clear bonus)

When you cleared all Puyos, you get a score at 3,600 points and 30 Ojama-Puyos is added to the next attack.

Hellfire

When you cleared many color's Puyos at 2 combo, you can send a large quantity of Ojama-Puyos quickly than 4 combo.

Bounce cancel

You can omit bounce motion when you put Puyos to the step while letting it slide.

Sudden death

The limit that Ojama-Puyos falls at a time is five lines. In other words, you can save time wasted on a fall if enemy oneself put seven height Puyos in the entrance.

and, enjoy this run!

mmbossman: Accepting this run over this movie, since they are virtually the same game, and this one is faster.
mmbossman: I'm setting this back to "new" status so that more discussion can take place regarding whether we need this movie and Kirbys Avalanche published
mmbossman: Once again, I am setting this to accepted, so long as it obsoletes the current Kirby's Avalanche run. I would also like to apologize to the encoder who put forth the time to publish the recent K. A. run while a decision was being made on this submission.

Raiscan: *sigh*, at least I have the bitrate from K.A. Processing :)

First post! (It only took 2 days!) I vote yes. Nice combos, nice and short. Also, I agree with Mukki below that I liked the full clears of the board.

The speed in this run seemed to be much slower than in other puzzle games we have published here (such as tetris). I liked it, to be honest, because it was easier to watch the combos as you were setting them up and many of them were quite clever. I preferred the earlier boards where you cleared everything, but that's just me being picky. Voted yes.

Thanks for putting a video on youtube pirohiko. I really liked the run, instead of looking like the enemy was playing at its highest level, you made it fool of him winning with some quick combos, I loved that (& specially when you cleaned all the puyos on screen). Voting yes :D

Seeing the cleared screens in the first couple levels was really nice, and I liked how the movie ended. Very solid!
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. Really nice one, it ends before it gets boring, unlike other puzzle games I've seen here, it deserves a Yes for sure.
I am old enough to know better, but not enough to do it.

Given the judging decision for this movie, will this obsolete the published Kirby's Avalanche run? After all, the rejected run was faster than the published run.

Since I decided to set this back to new, having not realized that there was a Kirbys Avalanche run already published, does anyone see a reason to publish this also? From what I can see, the gameplay between the two is identical.

I would be interested in having this run obsolete the Kirby's Avalanche published run. Having Kirby characters present really isn't that important, and it certainly has no impact on the game. This is also the shorter game, with no essential loss of gameplay between this movie and the other Kirby's Avalanche run. However, having both games with runs would also be fine. I'd like to mention the example of Baxter's runs for Tetris Attack and Panel de Pon, though those were both accepted for having radically different strategies. I don't know these games well enough to have any better inputs, sorry.

Definite Yes. I love this game and how you clear the puyos is awesome. There's speed, control and enough variation that you can walk away from it feeling happy. Especially with that end sequence :P

Well, this is a pretty classic game, and there are a surprising amount of puyo fans. I actually didn't know that Kirby's Avalanche was similar. I'll check it out and edit in later. //Edit1: Personally I found this run more entertaining than the Avalanche one. Maybe it's due to differences in the games (which I don't really see), but the combo optimization felt more optimal, especially since in this game pretty much every win is after one attack whereas in the Kirby one there seems to be two required. Also again, attack variations take this one to the top. ...I'm an idiot, Kirby's Avalanche is this game. Then this one should definitely obsolete Kirby's Avalanche.

Honestly, I find Kirby's Avalanche more fun to watch. The music is better and the characters are more interesting. While this run is better than the one on the site, there exists better KA runs overall (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOIFLNlEpAs).

This was on the bench for two and a half months. Try posting information like that before it gets published.

Strange that this movie was published as "Kirby's Avalanche (JPN)" instead of "Super Puyo Puyo 2 (JPN)"...

it wasn't. Adelikat got confused and changed it to Kirby's Avalanche. I changed it back.

I really like this game and loved the movie. Seeing the cleared board early on was aesthetically pleasing and I liked the variety in the combos - a load of 4-stage combos and a 2-stage one with loads of puyos being burst in the '2nd stage' to break it up. I was able to follow the action easily, unlike the Panel de Pon games. I thought the green haired demon girl in the red dress would survive your attack but was pleased to be proved wrong. Though I'd rather see more extreme combos, you obviously worked out carefully just 'how much' was required.
I'm just some random guy. Don't let my words get you riled - I have my opinions but they're only mine.

Sorry if I'm bumping into a old submission topic, but this game has curse words in the Nohoho training mode scene. It translates "Oh, s---!"
i think i got banned again... I don't know if I can do TASing at the moment. May in summer or something? Soon-ish... Aka. Chuterix, formerly ChutacoackoTAS (did I even address that name?)
