Once again I can't play the .dsm file. It stalls on the language selection screen for some reason. :/

Is it so much faster to get hit by the boss?
First of all, thank you for watching my WIP. I get damage from Arthroverta to kill him fast. In particular, - To slash Arthroverta just after MP refill. - To avoid using Magnes: saves 5 MP. (also it might allow me to begin recovering MP faster) At the moment, I personally don't worry about getting damage in the boss battles, and I rather prefer to kill them faster. Therefore, I will miss some boss medals intentionally.

Enable "Advanced Bus-Level Timing" in Emulation Setting dialog. Those sync settings are written in DSM, but DeSmuME just ignores most of them, so you need to set appropriate setting by yourself.

After watching that, I think a hard mode or hard mode level 1 cap tas would be much more interesting.

I doubt level 1 would be interesting, since it just means more grinding. Maybe do Albus mode on Hard, but not with a level cap.

IMHO the pacing of this run is fine. No need to go for hard mode. I can't play the .DSM's either, the linux version of DeSmuMe always crashes when I try. Looking forward to the next youtube'd WIP :)

How can you grind if you're capped at level 1? Only your equipment will matter, then. I agree that a hard mode level 1 would probably be interesting.

In a sense, you'd be grinding the bosses. You wouldn't get any strength upgrades, only weapon changes, and your mp wouldn't increase all that much through the powerups you find.

Ah. I was using an outdated DeSmuME. Thanks! Looks great so far.

But considering how fast Dracula was beat up in Portrait of Ruins while severely under leveled, it would still be cool and not take too long.

Portrait of Ruin used a bug to get enough money to buy the best weapon in the game. Order of Ecclesia has no such bug.

There are still quite a few tricks players can use. The Death Ring and the Judgment Ring together can make for ridiculous Glyph Unions, especially when you manipulate boss weaknesses.

Edit: Yeah, a lot. I translated some of them roughly, here it is. http://pastebin.ca/1874674 Edit 2: He has posted his final route. http://pastebin.ca/1876646 One major mistake you (and me in Test TAS) made: You definitely don't need to get the second Blow/Wind rings, because you don't need to "equip" it actually.
Thanks for the translation. Wow, I'm pretty sure that was among the first things I tested when I first heard about the accessory glitch. Something went horribly wrong there. That's another ~40 seconds saved.

But the thing is, there are probably other bugs to take advantage of.

Are there bugs that will let you skip 90% of the game, like in PoR? The PoR TAS, if I recall correctly, only had to fight two bosses, and was at an appropriate level for one of them; thus, there was only one really long dragged-out fight. Givenr OoE's structure, I don't think such a massive game skip would be possible (though I could of course be wrong).

I would love to see an attempt at the very least. To see if it feasible. Let's be honest, boss fights that takes 1 second is boring to say the least. If it's dragged out, it's much more fun. Of course, there's a limit to how long the fight can be before it becomes boring. Anyway, that's how I see it.

No, they've already gone checking. The best they managed to find was a bug that let you get another ability out of accessories, nothing related to movement like with earlier Castlevanias.

OTOH, with a NewGame+ you can start with Rapidus Fio, unlike previous castlevania games.

I discovered that Volaticus allows me to go into the wall with some limited situations. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niNo5WRA3Ng 1. At the moment, zipping only works right to left. 2. To go into the wall, Shanoa must be on plain ground, not slope or whatever.

Too bad it'll have really limited usage since you get it so late in the game.

long ago had seen the presentation of umTAS ArikAdu. And it was lovely, really good one was even doing. but when I quickly discouraged. If you want to make this game you better hurry up, the guy is eating all Castlevania. ^ ^
I am a determined person and not give up so easy. And better and getting used to because I will send many videos angry. I am Brazilian and not ever quit. (Though I actually rooting for Japan ^ ^)

I've made a Albus NG+ testrun that beats the game in just about 12 minutes. Since it's just a testrun there's a few minor mistakes and Action Replay was used, but only to get to lvl 255 everything else was legit (like getting max HP/MP ups) Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJb0GGFquBk Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DTXlUOuq7M Sorry about bad quality I'm not very good at encoding.

Is that using the touchscreen warp to go everywhere (I haven't played Albus Mode beyond the first level)? I have to say it wasn't very interesting -- just warp through the levels to the bosses, then shoot them a few times and they fall over. The run itself seemed proficient enough (though I question the need to cheat yourself to level 255), just...not entertaining.
