Hey guys, I spent the past two days making a video for Golden Axe Warrior in Dega when I finnished the game and went to submit my video the website returned an error
No acceptable movie file found in the ZIP
Archive: /dev/shm/tmp/phpAIIDF0 inflating: /tmp/nesvzip_1226617794_171/Golden Axe Warrior (UE) [!].mmv MMV error: Movie begins from a snapshot
I have found out that a snapshot is a savestate file and according to the guys on IRC, I must have created a save state at the very beggining, Before the title screen and this is not allowed the videos must start from power on. So here are my questions 1 - Can my .MMV file be repaired? It would be a shame to waste all that time I spent and I dont fancy starting over 2 - In Dega, how do you start recording from power on? you are given four options only, Start Recording, Start Playback, Stop Recording/Playback and Properties. in Proberties all you can enter is the video authors name. EDIT: I have uploaded my .MMV file incase anyone needs to take a look I hope someone can help thx in advance jse

Which version did you record that on? It desyncs for me almost right away on both the Linux and Windows versions of Dega. /About the recording: dega 1.15 has a little checkbox called "From reset" in the bottom area of the "Record movie" window. Edit2: guess I should have read the thread title... You already said that you recorded it with 1.15. The .mmv file also states that you used 1.15. My ROM's md5sum matches yours as well, still both my Linux and Windows builds desync when you try to fight enemies in the first cave. I have no idea what causes this or how to fix it (since it already desyncs when you enter your name (why do you hold down the d-pad for two frames some times when one frame would also work?)), so I suggest you go the hard way and redo it. I don't know about luck manipulation in this game, but maybe you could copy your already existing input from the .mmv file to your new try.

For what it's worth, I got the movie to sync and playback fine. While I can't comment on the actual topic requiring assistance, I will comment that if you were to submit this run as it, it would likely be received poorly. There were several parts, mostly in dungeons, that seemed rather unoptimal. Boss fights in particular seemed to have considerable room for improvement. Some of them even looked like you were playing them in realtime. I don't mean to crush your hopes or such, but I'd recommend redoing the run from scratch, as there is definitely visible room for improvement in it. This would also give you the chance to fix the "start from reset/poweron/whatever" issue as opposed to from a savestate.

Yeah I agree atma, im currently redoing it and the run is going much better. I didnt quite grasp how much luck could be manipulated, the bosses this time are done much faster and no damage at all is taken should have the video finnished in a couple of days

Atma, did you change anything specific to get it to sync?

I finally had some time to work on dega again... I made a new release fixing a few emulation bugs: a minor one affecting the vertically scrolling stages in Rygar, and a more significant bug that corrupted enemy sprites in Golden Axe Warrior.
The cause?
<klmz> it reminds me of that people used to keep quoting adelikat's IRC statements in the old good days <adelikat> no doubt <adelikat> klmz, they still do
