(it's in portuguese but there's a video)
Brazilian company Tectoy, the same company that is officialy licensed by SEGA for production and comercialization of sega master system and mega drive (genesis) to this day, has accounced today at a press conference in São Paulo the new console it has been developing along with Qualcomm. The console's name is Zeebo.
First of all so you get an idea, they said at the conference that it is capable of displaying games with quality very close to that of Resident Evil 4 on the playstation 2.
With that being said, comes the especifications:
- It has a built in HD. Games will be sold exclusively on a download system connected by 3G (cell phone technology), and the user won't be charged to use this system.
- The controller is connected to the console using a regular USB port. It is similar to the classic controller and has an accelerometer for movement sensitive games.
- It will be launched in 2009 in Brazil for market testing, and possibly worldwide afterwards.
- It'll start costing R$ 599,00 (Brazilan Reais, not USD). The Wii and ps3 are sold here at about R$ 1.800,00
- It will feature games like "Quake", "FIFA", "Crash Bandicoot racing", "Resident Evil", "Street Fighter", "Ridge Racer", "Tekken", "Virtua Tennis", "Double Dragon" and "Sonic".
- The games should cost R$ 20,00 at an average.
It sounds good for the brazilian market and other markets where the gamers go side-by-side with piracy, because of the low cost of its games. But I think it has no chance on places like the U.S or Japan.
I may buy it anyway if it features some good old and new games.
I'm intrigued by this "Double dragon" though, does that means NES, SNES, arcade, master system, neo geo, mega drive or GBA?
