A really simple trick saved quite some time on my way to Scrabania; the DDG by UXBs. I can't believe I overlooked this trick before. I'm now trying to figure out the best level to "revive" Abe, Scrabania is really hard to do as a zombie, too many high ledges...
The continuous backwards jump might come in handy.

And it really did! One of the rescues was greatly improved using that trick. :) Scrabania is kinda confusing right now, doors out of order, Abe is dead, Abe is alive... The next WIP will be delayed a little, I want to test if another DDG will cost me too much time. edit: It's slower, the DDG setup wastes too much time, not to mention the suicide before RuptureFarms 2. Also, Abe is transforming to Shrykull every time I have to open a Bird Portal, wasting even more time.

I'm sorry to double post, but I have some pretty bad and, at least I hope so, good news. the bad one is that the game is becoming unstable, loading forever or simply hanging in places. (looks like the dismount Elum trick came back to bite my ass) the good one is that I'm putting the run on hold, until I recover my motivation to fix it, that is. Why is it good news? Because I'll fiddle a little with Abe's Exoddus in the mean time. (the any% failed some time ago, so I'll try the 100% this time)

That is good news Dooty. My record time for the PC 100% is 2:38:50 and the major skip is not required for a 100% so you'll have no problems there. All WIPs for Exoddus need to go in the Exoddus thread: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13620

Time to get back to Oddysee - 100%. The dismount Elum trick was causing too much trouble in later levels; use it twice and you can't get to RuptureFarms 2, use it once and then you can't complete it... :( So, what? Well, I was kinda upset to have to remove that trick from the run, so I was playing around with the Teleport Elum trick;
AKheon wrote:
If Elum is in a different screen, Abe still teleports on him but the camera won't follow. It's possible to glitch-move the locations of elevators by a few steps while doing this, for some reason.
Moving the location of the elevator didn't yield good results; Abe can't get out of it anymore. But with the camera trick, it's possible to skip the bees on Paramonia too; with the camera stuck down there Elum will not eat the honey! I still have to test a few things, figure out some necessary steps, faster setup and etc. but it will be on the next WIP.

Your trick will save a nice amount of time on Paramonia, and there's just an important thing to do to make it work; don't jump! (no matter how high Abe is, after a jump he will fall to the screen below, dying most of the time)
Warp wrote:
Is the invisible elum glitch necessary? I think using the glitch detracted from entertainment.
I guess it won't be possible to avoid it this time; unlike Abe's Exoddus, in Oddysee you can be killed by bombs off screen! (and the invisible elum can safely step on them) So far I did the stage with the Invisible Elum, and now I'm going to try the invisible Abe, let's see. edit; The UXBs are inactive off screen... here, not yet a new WIP, just to show the skip; http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/694433768/movie.pxm Dismount Elum trick removed and no Invisible Elum. :) (yet, 201 frames ahead of my last WIP, pretty good)

That's a nice WIP Dooty. I like the new trick at Paramonia. I think you will get a sub 1 hour this time!

The game is not hanging anymore, but something weird happened on RuptureFarms2 this time; http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1903116765/movie.pxm There's no lever to open one of the trapdoors! Luckily, the new strategy is faster anyway. I'm just 01:57.82 ahead of the published run, so sub one hour may not be possible yet. :( edit; almost there, I just need to redo a small part of the last Zulag and it will be submitted.

I hate to double post, even worse when it is to give bad news, but the glitch at RuptureFarms2 happened again; http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/646449625/movie.pxm All 99 Mudokons rescued, and Abe is just stuck here; This time I can't think of anything to solve the problem other than track down the cause of the glitch.

That is an odd glitch Dooty! Once I was streaming some glitchless runs on Twitch on the PC version I would experience missing platforms and trapdoors.

Um... My guess was one the new glitches, the bee skip maybe, but in this case I'm even clueless of what to do to fix it. I went back a few stages and played it again, skipping the rescues, but the problem still persists. So, the run is on hold again until something else happens, a new glitch or something like that. I'm sorry.

There used to be a game fix for it on some old releases of the P.E.Op.S. plugin. You can download v1.4 here: P.E.Op.S. Soft GPU 1.4 (this was the last version to have this fix). Then, before starting the game, you need to activate the fix: I'll try to port this to the newest version whenever I have more free time, even though the fix doesn't make it look 100% correct...
With this plugin, I can't do SaveStates and FrameAdvance EDIT : Happy new year to all !

We might be in luck with the any%. I am telling people now, a sub 10 won't be possible but we might be able to save one second and a 12:05 might be coming. More details soon.

We are now looking into creating a 50% run. A 50 run% requires saving 50 Mudokons to get the good ending as suggested by the message at the end of the game. Skipping Paramonia and Scrabania will be showcased in the movie and we will also kill Mudokons for entertainment! This will be done when Bizhawk is ready for PSX TASing!

I got Oddworld - New 'n' Tasty for PC today. So, what? Well, the file extension used on the movie files are well known to us; .bk2 I know it's just a coincidence. Anyway, it feels like a hint to wait for BizHawk before attempting a "New" run. :)

I am enjoying it very much. It is really faithful to the original, but the new additions are welcome. I'm playing something like the any%, rescuing just the easy to find Mudokons. Oh, here's something interesting on Paramonia, Elum can jump over these mines with ease; It may be an already known trick, but on every speedrun I've watched so far, the guy blew them up.

Um... It's not possible to save while Abe is dying, so it's not possible to die while saving. Clever! Now I'm wondering if something like that can be done on Exoddus, but it's rather unlikely.

rtsmarty has found a glitch in New 'n' Tasty that works like the DDG in Abe's Oddysee but now we call it the DDIG because Abe is always invincible and he can survive high ledges, but he can't roll into mines or UXB'S. Plus there is a nice little surprise in the run. Just watch it and you'll see! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97wjkQQ1mW0

Wow, that's a great run indeed. The DDIG's setup is so simple, and yet so ingenious. Congratulations on your time, Samlaptop. Here's some thoughts while I'm watching: That honey skip made me wonder if Oddysee (PSX) still have any more surprises... What the? Scrabania, skipped already? Um... Only in Free-Fire Zone I think I realized why you kept restarting the game. The DDIG, it can lock the screen, correct? I'm not sure yet.
