I'm gonna hex edit almost all the 3 stars TAS and put my improvements and then submit
Maybe it'll be submitted sunday
Edit : not sunday because i found several new possibles improvements
Fantastic to hear the 150 project is underway. I'm looking forward to following its progress. Best of luck to Sharkey91, and everyone else involved in the run.
After the recent improvements, we have contacted MKDasher. We have agreed that MKDasher and Sharkey91 will both restart and optimise to hell the current any% (3 stars TAS). Except a full tas - not - by the end of the week, but later.
The LLL improvement is confirmed to be a 6 frame improvement! Good news :)
xy2_ you're actually wrong, I've compared my LLL red coins TAS with the LLL red coins star in the currently published TAS, so it's as well a 6 frames new improvement
With MKDasher I've talked with him and we found several possible improvements for the 3 star TAS
And yeah I really feel good about continuing the 150 star TAS.
Edit : xy2_ edited his post and say that my LLL tas was as well a 6 frames improvement
For the 150 star TAS, I have to do the princess secret slide, but there are several ways to finish the slide fast. I've done a new strat (13"50) but I don't know if there is a faster one, so please tell me if there is a faster way to finish the slide because I heard someone has done 12"92 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=c6kRdyNp2MY
A few things I've noticed from having watched the N64 version of the PSS a few hundred times.
First, you're probably not going to hit the record. The record is obtained by starting backwards by bumping against the wall immediately when you start. A TAS won't do this because it has a higher set up time than the time saved.
Second, your first turn you hit the wall, can you avoid it?
Finally, after you jump you land in a different place than other TASes I've seen. Farther from the finish line and you go around the final curve. Can you land farther along on the course?
Build a man a fire, warm him for a day,
Set a man on fire, warm him for the rest of his life.
If what you saw is in the n64 version, i know the record is 12:2 by immediately going backward when you jump to the corner of the beginning of the slide and I know it's also possible in the DS version.
In SM64DS, where I landed is the fastest way to finish the slide. If I land like in the n64 version, It's slower.
Last thing, I have to hit the wall to then make mario jumping in the right way over the ramp. If I didn't hit the wall, then I'll jump backward so I'll jump at absurdly slow speed
The new any% TAS is now finished. We saved 341 frames but due to lag problems we've lost 1 frames, so the new TAS is an improvement of 340 frames over the previous published run. However I've not watched all the run, but I think it's the final result
I'll describe all the improvements made in the new any% TAS :
324 frames saved by pressing L + R + Start + Select at the beginning of the TAS to skip the star animation. This is called the soft reset.
6 frames were saved by doing earlier glitchy longjumps in the basements.
6 frames saved in LLL red coin star by getting an optimal angle to make the direction reset glitch happening.
2 frames saved in SSL in the talons of the big bird by doing the new "Pillar upwarp glitch"
4 frames were saved by doing the jump kick trick in the castle
And sadly 1 frame lost due to lag
isn't he banned?i don't know how the ban works at the site,if you can still submit and see posts
TAS i'm interested:
Megaman series, specially the RPGs! Where is the mmbn1 all chips TAS we deserve? Where is the Command Mission TAS?
i'm slowly moving away from TASing fighting games for speed, maybe it's time to start finding some entertainment value in TASing.
i dont remember a lot of the original, but did the slide kick(R B) always bounce at the wall like if u jumped at it?
seems like a nice way to attack and turn instantly
