I support the move getting rid of the starred movies btw. It takes effort to maintain and causes drama, there's already the ratings, and it's basically just the most popular games anyway.
I haven't waded through the gruefood forum (it would be a lot easier if they were sorted by poor play vs other reasons), but I thought of some examples. Sorry I'm not including the links btw. :( I'll include the author if I remember it, to help you look though.
- not yet, but mike89's latest Knuckles in Sonic will get rejected
- Crystalis by tmont
- Air (got obsoleted)
- Puzzle Bobble by SuperHappy (oh wait you already have this)
- Astro Boy by SuperHappy
- Tales of Phantasia by alexpenev on DeJap version (might never have been submitted actually)
- Magic of Scheherazade
- Demon's Crest
- Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (isn't it silly to favor Kirby's Avalanche over this when neither of them are Puyo Pop?)
Dozen was a lowball, I could probably do 50 if I went through the whole list. A good place to look would be runs that were cancelled because the author wanted to fix something but never got around to it.
The main reason I'm interested in these is because I feel that some submissions were rejected for reasons other than the TAS itself. I am 100% convinced that if Crystalis was a Zelda game, or if tmont was someone with a following like JXQ, or that if tmont inflated his rerecord count and pumped his submission and talked about how difficult it was to do... that it would be published. I'm not trying to push an agenda, I don't care if anyone else agrees, that's just my take.
Thanks for the suggestions!
You might already know this, but there is another useful way of looking through them:
http://tasvideos.org/Subs-All.html
You can sort by status which will group Cancelled (which tend be better as you mentioned) and Rejected.
I was thinking about a list of interesting obsoleted movies as well; other examples off the top of my head would be old A Boy and His Blob, Sonic (you know, like ones where you can actually *see* sonic ^_^), 16 Star M64, Adventure Island, Hitler no Fukkatsu... probably a lot of others. Basically, movies that have something unique not in the current published movie, but at this point have virtually no visibility.
I agree, and support a more permissive submission process, coupled with more site organization. As it is, if we were to accept everything that was optimized it would clearly get messy. But if we divided a bit more it could be manageable. I would like to see "bad game choice" disappear as a valid reason to reject a run. The very fact that someone chose to devote time to a movie implies to me that there is also a corresponding audience for the movie. They could go to a different section, without an AVI even. At the same time, I think a lot of movies that are currently published could be moved there as well. A personal example would be my Dizzy movie -- I'm the first to admit that it is not the most exciting game in the world. However, it definitely has a place here. Also, jimsfriend seems to be commenting on some movies that might be appropriate to "downgrade" :) (I liked that movie by the way, but it is definitely not anywhere near jaw-dropping)
Effort is of course a big stumbling block to my ideas about further classification, but it is also one that can be overcome if people care about the site, and this site definitely has many people that do. As for drama/elitism, I think that is inevitable (since 100% of the movies here are "pride movies" ;) but honestly that already exists in the form of published/not published movies. Also, the use of "stars" leads to the perception that it is a list of the "best" movies when it should be (and was) a list of good starting points for new visitors. And they should definitely be different from "highest-rated", though that would actually be another good categorization (it exists in the stats section, but I think it would be appropriate to increase its visibility and also be listed in expanded screenshot/description mode, like normal movie pages).
But I digress.
Actually, I'm a specist, and adelikat's choice of dino does not jibe with my values. Land animal power!
Er, I mean that I should add that :) Any other deserving April Fool's movies I left out?
So, I've added a few movies, including Outrun suggested by DarkKobold, and modified the introduction a bit. I still have not added the other Color a Dinosaur (oops), but I'm planning to go through and look for other funny/really unfunny April Fools submissions so I will add it then.
I also added a few examples of my planned layout for entries on the list. It's basically using a simple table to emulate the "look and feel" of real publications. I have one at the bottom of the page, and also redid all of the Hacks tab (a whopping two entries there!)
I have added a "sister" page to Gruefood Delight: http://tasvideos.org/Alden/GoldenOldies.html
Basically it's to highlight obsoleted movies that provide something unique that is missing from the new movie(s).
Would appreciate any suggestions from people for other movies to include and why.

You can probably take the Demon's Crest canceled submission off the list, since there's an improvement on the workbench right now.
As for Golden Oldies, another excellent idea. I can't think of any that I would add, unfortunately.
No idea how to highlight, or how to get to the original publication, but the original Morimoto awesome... Super Mario Brothers 3!
This should go in the golden oldies, btw ;P
Same here! Can't believe I forgot that one: too obvious I suppose. I also took the liberty of adding a screenshot to it...
There should really be a whole Morimoto section though.
It will either come down or be replaced shortly ;)
Thanks for reminding me Ferret, I've been meaning to put that up for a while :) I personally really liked it... makes me want to try to make it faster :P
I've got several links to YouTube and noticed there is a wiki "module" for embedding them in pages -- is there a downside to doing so? Maybe all on a separate page...
At least don't put many youtube embeds in a single page. They make the page horribly heavy, especially if you are going to watch the videos (if you want to stop watching one video and go to the next, there just isn't any way of stopping the first from continuing to load the video; you could end up having a half dozen youtube embeds, all of them downloading uselessly at the same time).
(And note that the tabs trick in tasvideos.org does not create separate pages, so it's not enough to put the embeds in separate tabs.)
Yeah, that's what I was thinking too, thanks. Maybe individual subpages with a dedicated YouTube index on the main page. Or just continue to send people away to YouTube itself...
For the april fool's section, I'm partial to http://tasvideos.org/1503S.html (Tetris min%). The amount of frame optimization to keep the possible avi as short as possible is stunning!! Anyway, it's much more entertaining than if input had ended on the first possible frame.
Sorry to double-post, but I think catnap222's Metroid Legacy 100% run deserves some attention. An excellent run; I can't imagine why he cancelled it, considering Legacy is on the approved romhacks list.
He made it long before he posted it here, and by the time he did post it JXQ's first 100% run was already published, and it was way more up to date, thus it was fully known that the run where improvable by several minutes. So he canceled it (I think that's why at least).
