About this game

Playing at arcade have to press A rapidly for a short moment. Unlike in Adelikat's Gradius run, Gradius 3 doesn't use many speed upgrade. You can choose your Type of weapons, or your custom weapon. I don't use missile in this run, it causes lag. I don't use reduce in this run, it makes the game too easy. I used standard options to create the pattern like in Adelikat's Gradius run to turn this game into art form, and fast boss fight with E-Laser. There are 10 stages in this game. I used E-Laser to quickly take out the boss than other lasers. I skipped the bonus stage, its boring. If I have 3 or more options, option eater will appear in Stage 2, 4, 5, and 6. If the option eater touches your options, it get taken away, so avoid it at all cost. If I have 2 or less options, option eater will not appear.

Improvement

Better boss fight, lag reduction, better use of options
I think it will obsolete both published movie.
Enjoy!

adelikat: Accepting for publication as an improvement to _both_ published movies.

Because it isn't possible to kill everything. At least according to the previous 100% kills movie.

Voting yes. Very entertaining video. One thing I noticed is you got all the options and the game begins to slow down when there are quite a bit of enemies on the screen and having the options seems to contribute to this, charging the laser with the options also seems to effect the lag pretty badly. I just think there were some points you could have saved some time by not charging the laser and just doing some regular shots, like at the bubbles in stage 2. Just my thoughts. Also, it is cool when you emphasized on the making of letters and words when flying idly. Looks awesome when the options are tracing after you.

Desynced for me about half-way through, so I couldn't watch it completely. :(

It was much better than your last attempt. I still don't think autoscrollers make very good TASes, but you did an admirable job with everything, and I was suitably impressed with the amount of kills you were able to rack up. I think that a double obsoletion would also be a good idea, as this is both faster than the any% and 100% runs, and this game doesn't need 2 separate runs, imo. Voting yes. Also, although the lag was much much better than before, I agree with Pasky13 in that it may have been reduced further by using single shots instead charging the laser at some points, but that's a minor fault.

What is holding this submission up is my general ignorance of this game and inability to answer this: Does this submission match or beat the published "100% kills" movie in number of kills?

From what I saw (before it desynced), it surpassed my movie in number of kills. (Although I can't say for sure for the volcano rocks and the fireballs. Maybe it missed a few fireballs I didn't...)

Thanks, this is the kind of info I am looking for. As far as I can see, this movie beats the any% movie in time, and the 100% kills movie in # of kills. In addition, it at least attempts to add some interesting style along the way. So the verdict is that this should accepted and obsolete both movies.

Post-mortem: At 24:25 into the movie you miss one of those rocks. Was it simply physically impossible to get it, or did you simply not notice it?

Four of them, actually. And I'm sure it's possible to herd them from right to left so that Vic Viper could be standing to the left of the intersection point the entire time, able to shoot. I'm also sure using missiles at that point (especially since they were already selected) would help a lot.

Similarly, at around 7:37, it appears a volcanic rock sneaks by your options, but this is around the point when you need to decide how much of the next volcano to destroy.

Well I'm working on an improvement to this, I'm at the end of stage 5 and have yet to miss anything. (I think so at least, though one volcano rock is impossible to destroy because it appears to far to the right, rendering it invulnerable and some projectiles is not destroyed by me but by the enviroment) And after frameadvancing through big parts of this run I see that already at the end of stage 5 he have missed probably 100+ projectiles and I think even some enemies, in level 4 he misses a lot of those fire rings (and it at least looks like he aims to destroy them to) and in level 5 he misses a lot of small rocks. Also it looks like I will be up to 3 minutes faster.

Wow, how's that even possible? (After all, this *is* an autoscroller. The only place where you can improve is in boss fights, and I don't believe all the boss fights combined take even 1 minute. Maybe lag reduction?)

Bingo. See the great WIPs Cpadolf has in the Gradius thread, they're very impressive.

Yeah at this point I'm ~150-200 ingame frames faster than krocketneo, and ~5400 in total. So ~5200 frames of lag reduced up to end of level 5.

Less lag probably means that the playing looks even faster than before? Or is the effect even noticeable? Anyways, I'm looking forward to watching this.

At some points it should be noticeable, but to be honest there are such ridiculous amounts of lag in this game that it will probably look about the same. In the submission text I will compile a list of the lag left in each stage versus the amount of lag present in the last version. What I think is more noticeable is the much greater precision and playing more with danger.
