This project is now officially 99% dead. I wont touch it anymore. Perhaps its better to announce that I wont be working on it for a very long time. Its better to not say anything why Im more or less cancelling this project.
Sounds like there's a need for a levelup in the copypasting technique!
I'm 70% done with the experience required to reach that level.
Hint: Try to match everything affecting the copypasting point. This includes subpixel position, and random seed if possible. Lag-affecting factors are more difficult to match.
I utilized the subpixel matching in Rockman.

If you or someone else could copypaste the trick in Pharaoh Man, I would owe my TASing life to you. Or if copypasting would be successful to at least Drill or Toad Man would be great.
Just as Graveworm answered. Reading the game RAM.
The game keeps Rockman's coordinates in very high precision variables, and those variables are stored in the RAM, and the emulator knows where the RAM is, and I just need to know where in the RAM those variables are, and how to decode them. Which I do now know.

Thanks to our admin, it is possible to slowly hex-edit up to Wily 3 where we are at the moment. But here is the problem, due to really bad randomness, we've (through hex-editing) lost around 25-30 frames in Bright Man. Now imagine hex-editing Ring, Dust, Skull, Dive, Drill, Toad, Cossack 1, 2, 3, 4, Wily 1 and 2 and losing a few frames during that process. How many frames do you honestly think we would lose? 76 frames is what we would gain for the trick in Pharaoh Man. Around 26 of them are lost due to tremendously bad luck in lag and other stuff. I dont want this to appear as a lame excuse if we would go ahead and finish the "un-hexed" run. But I hope everyone understand my point. Bisqwit is having the same problem when he redid Woodman. What he gained there is slowly been scattered in other stages. Question here is, would people be disappointed in me to see this run when it can be improved by 76 frames? Would people forgive me for not being the least motivated starting over to gain these 76 frames in a 30-35 minute movie? Please feel free to express any opinion you got about this.
Ok, that's somehow good news. It's often not possible to get the same randomness... and 76 frames is nearly nothing on 30 minutes, so easil lost on randomness.
Looking very much forward to seeing this submission :)
I'd much rather you finished the run than worry about a minor improvement 47 levels back. When I watched the trick, I acutally couldn't tell what the difference was, so I would think it's nothing extremely noticeable, and so it wouldn't take away from the entertainment of the run to leave that out. Especially if it ends up being slower in the long run.
<Swordless> Go hug a tree, you vegetarian (I bet you really are one)
How does this Pharaoh trick work, and if it works like I think it would, does it apply on Star Man too then?
Edit: I'll just say, I think I know how it works, instead of asking how it does work, I'm just kinda looking for confirmation, like does it work on Star Man because it's possible to reach the middle in that bossroom too?
