The difference, dudes, is that Sephiroth is a player.
I always thought he was a Non-Player Character. Besides, he's emo (go play FF7 again and listen to his drivel!) Last I checked, emo and manly are mutually exclusive.

Not to mention he's a mama's boy, and with an Oedipus complex, no less.
Kirby said so, so it must be true. ( >'.')>

He has his own bad ass-song though. That and his bad ass-wings just have to count in his favor. He's such a freak.

Sephiroth is a biseinen. That's a whole lot closer to homogaijin then it is to manly.

You guys are trapped in the past. That was just a phase... he already overcame these weakness and now is utterly badass. The emo mama's boy role was then taken by Kadaj.

According to Wikipedia: The prefix bi (美) more often than not refers to feminine beauty, and bijin, literally "beautiful person", is usually, though not always, used to refer to beautiful women. Biseinen is to be distinguished from this term as seinen is used to describe men who are of age, including those who have entered or completed tertiary education. The term shōnen is used to describe boys of middle and high school age. Last, bishota can be used to refer to a beautiful, pre-pubescent male child or a child-like male. Outside Japan, bishōnen is the most well-known of the three terms, and has become a generic term for all beautiful boys and young men. It is you who thinks it means gay.

I think that the problem is that in the western cultures beauty is not one of the admired qualities of men, and thus not associated with manliness and masculinity. At most a manly man can be handsome, but not really beautiful, which is more reserved for women and all things feminine. AFAIK the Japanese culture has always had a different perspective on masculine beauty, all the way from the Heian period and even earlier. (The anime character Fujiwara no Sai would be a perfect example of this.)

Most western males lose their cuteness when they grow up. I didn't. So people think I'm not very masculine and they often guess my age a lot younger than I really am. Cute males are assumed to be less masculine and less dominant in our culture. They're less likely to be leader of social groupings. I try to make up for those prejudices with skill. And... Sephiroth has more than enough skill for over a dozen men! Which means he's manly as hell. :D (He still doesn't beat MacGyver though)

I don't think it means gay, I know what it means. The whole idea is that it's a male other males find attractive. Read down a couple paragraps in your wikipedia article and you'll see. "The aesthetic of the bishōnen began as an ideal of a young homosexual lover"

A better English translation of bishota/bishōnen/biseinen is metrosexual IMO. Also Johannes I salute you for being an Opera user.

Bishounen doesn't mean metrosexual at all. It means to look cute and pretty as a man, mostly with long hair. Being metrosexual means to apply makeup and stuff, it's men who are concerned with their looks. Afaik bishounen are hardly ever presented to use any kind of beauty products. For being metrosexual it doesn't matter how you look.

I just kept the IRC chat in because the desktop just repeats on the 2nd monitor... I consider mIRC a desktop background to me. Anyway, Vista exploded on me, so I installed Windows 7 RC I had lying around as a temporary solution.

I saw that in other forums, but wouldn't it be possible to have a special tag that reduce the size of the image, unless it is clicked ?

type "nullsoft", without quotes and pressing ESC to close the "open" dialogs after you press the Ls,

Current laptop wallpaper - I started making a screensaver out of that image, but never did finish. Maybe I'll get back to it later... Desktop has no wallpaper at the moment, because it's useless with no monitor attached to it. Remote Desktop kills the wallpaper, anyway.
