This montage shows clips from 100 Amiga games in just 10 minutes. Very educative, very memory-refreshing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUoJBerFDsA I have never played any game on Amiga, but because many of them are remakes / were made remakes of, I recognized at least third of them through seeing TASes at TASvideos. Educative? Yes, those who don't know history are doomed to repeat/reinvent it. :)

I said it before and I say it again: we're just one tiny step away from making Amiga TASes. There is a great open-source emulator with most basic TAS capabilities (savestates/slowdown/movie support) already built in. There is a game library of several thousands of titles, with many of them being excellent games. The system itself is superior even to SNES when it comes to visuals, sound and processing power. …What are we waiting for? :)

damn, that took me back. I loved my amiga and have played (or watched friends play) about half of those games. Back then I was active in a BBS (those things you had to call via phone-line, in the pre-internet-days), I've been coding a lot, there's still software from me on aminet. My Amiga 4000 060/50 is still with me, less than 3 meters away from me. I've meant to plug it in again for years, but I'm a little afraid it won't boot up any more. oh dear, time for a sentimental evening with e-uae. Thank you bisqwit. edit: oh, moozooh, there are two problems: writeable disks, and copy protection. First, you'll never really know if your copy (or original disk) is unmodified. Second, copy protected games can only be played using .ipf-images, which cannot be read in a deterministic way. Either that, or the copy protection needs to be removed, and hacked images are not allowed on this site. So even if the emulator is reliable enough for synced rerecording someday, we'll miss out on most of the best games. :(

Hmm, so there's no reliable workaround for the copy protection other than forcefully removing it? Bummer. :(

Tub: Well, don't be negative... Anyway, ROM images is also illegal.

Phil, the point of Tub's message isn't that the images are illegal, but the fact that they will have either to be hacked, or unplayable.

If they would have to be hacked to removed the copy protection, why dont we hack them then? Its no worse then pirating a nintendo rom.
