What’s new?

This is an improvement of 2,054 frames (34 seconds) over the published run. This time was gained through a new glitch in which Samus can travel across multiple rooms while in the background of the game. This trick is used to complete Kraid first, which also eliminates the need to collect any missile tanks. A secondary improvement was made in the statue room. Samus no longer has to wait for the enemy to defrost; she simply jumps through the ceiling from underneath.

Special thanks to

CtrlAltDestroy ― For making sense out of the trick I discovered. I was playing in real time when I found the glitch, and I really didn't understand what I had done. He made a much more optimized test run in which I could compare against. He is also responsible for the awesome trick in the statue room.
Moozooh ― Hooked me up with some nifty memory addresses, which were absolutely vital for the sections where Samus' sprite was not on the screen.
Zoizite ― For his run, which I compared a large chunk of mine to.
Spider-Waffle ― Discovered a way into Kraid's room by using the bug from the sand pit.
Everyone else who encouraged me to complete this run, especially Angerfist who reminded me on a semi daily basis ;)
Enjoy!

Bisqwit: Accepting as an improvement to "any%" run and taking for processing.

Ventuz is correct, the zebetite skip is only for Super Metroid. I could have frozen the rinkas and stood on them to fire at the Mother Brain, but it is the same speed as jumping and firing. There is a weapon cool down period before you are allowed to fire again, and the mother brain has a small invincibility period. I chose not to freeze and stand on the rinkas because I wanted the fight to be visually different than the published run.
They're off to find the hero of the day...

It seems I'm the only one experiencing desync issues with this run? I tried both Metroid (U) and Metroid (U) [!], both with the exact right check-sums. They both desync for me the 2nd time you wedge yourself through a red door using a critter. Samus just stands next to the red door after then for a couple seconds taking another hit or two, then you reset and everything seems fine again. But within 20 seconds Samus dies and I see the 'Game Over' screen.

Bizzare. It worked fine for me in FCEU 0.98.16 with matching checksum. Do you have any cheats enabled or anything? Also, I love the new route! Well played.

I was using an older version of FCEU, whoops!
