I fooled around with it a little. Not much variety in the game. It would be like a time attack of Burger Time or Mr. Do's Castle. Not that I'm knocking the classics, but be forewarned: It will get repetitive fast.

well i did the first level and i can see what you're saying, but i think it will get more difficult and a little crazy later on. I'll press on, since my WIP ninja gaiden 1 run is not really going to break any records.

I think it will be fun to watch. It's so damn fast... Better than the Castlevania 1 movie that's actually pretty boring, cause the game is so slow. Fast paced games are ideal!

Wait. I misunderstood you. The game does not end. (I think)

In any case, doesn't it start looping at some point (I don't know, haven't played it too much)? In that case, he could just stop the movie there, like the Track and field movie.

ARRRGH this game gets freakin HARD later on Plus, it really does not end? I just finished the 4th level. I'll play through 5... but after that its probably just looping. In any case, I'll see if i can get the fmv posted for a while when thats done, though I doubt it will be accepted. However i can submit it and you guys can look at it on the in progress thing :>.

I thought about running this game through. Anyone here who wants to see it? I'm not sure should I do it all the red doors open or just as fast as possible.

Thanks, couldn't find it on search so I thought just to make a new topic. [Edit by Bisqwit: Merged into existing topic.]

For those who don't know, I'm not reviving this topic for no apparent reason, Guybrush is currently planning a run for this, that's why I'm posting here now. Elevator action... I haven't played this game much, but from what I remember it's kind of repetitive, running around floors shooting thugs dressed in suits. :) But maybe it could be a pretty cool TAS. I'll wait some more with judging this until I see your first WIP, Guybrush, I think it can be pretty cool to watch. :)

I think it loops forever. It's better to wait for final burn alpha emulator and do a TAS of the game Elevator Action Returns.

But what about doing the first stage as fast as possible?

Unless you find some glitch and want to show it.... i don't think there's a point..

It's pretty much like Galaga, right? I think Galaga could make a cool TAS, the problem is that it goes on, and on, and on, and BAM! You suddenly find yourself playing stage 900. :) However, the game Circus Charlie loops too, is it the same kind of loop in Elevator action, that it just plays a few levels over and over again? In that case, maybe this run could be like that game, that you play all levels once, and stop the movie after that.

Here's my first WIP. It's very short but I found one, pretty useful glitch. About doing a TAS of this game, this game does loop forever, so should I do a first stage TAS?

I hope it gets a lot more entertaining from that point, seeing you ride down the elevetor for 20 seconds without anything happening wasn't very exciting... Maybe you could go for an "100% kills" run or something, I don't know, maybe the enemies respawn after you kill them. But I really think you should somehow spice the run up, even if you do beat that level as fast as possible by doing nothing but riding that elevator.

This is only a test run, fast but not entertaining. There are endless number of enemies, if you kill one, another will show up. So, there can't be a "100% kill" TAS.

This isn't like circus charlie at all... I'll see what glitch you found. hummm that's more like the bad physics of the game. although you could try to explore it to make it usefull in some way.

I'll do it like that.

Here's the next WIP. Found another way to use the glitch. I'll have to redo the first red door because I spent an eternity there.

Looks nice, but as you said, you waste quite some time on the first red door. Just wondering, how do you beat a level in this game? Is a level beaten by getting to the bottom of the house? The thing I'm wondering about is whether it's absolutely necessary to enter the red doors, since this wastes quite a lot of time. And what's this glitch you're talking about? The only glitchy thing I saw in this run was when you got on that last elevator in a weird way, is this the glitch you're talking about?

You don't have to go to all those red doors, but I think it makes the movie more interesting. Here's the glitch. It makes entering the elevator much faster, also coming out of the elev. is faster this way!
