I've played around with most of the emulators on this site, and made movies with a few of them, but I was curious which one was people's favorite and why. I started out with Visualboy, which I still like quite a bit, but (and I know a lot of people will disagree with me), I've really grown attached to Gens and prefer to use it now. So what's your favorite?

VBA + gocha's memory watcher. Next comes Snes9x + gocha's memory watcher. %)

I've always found VBA simple to use, snes9x comes a close second.

For recording, FCEU. For general playing, ZSNES. FCEU is easy to use for me, and ZSNES has many features I like.

Likewise. ZSNES is the only emulator that actually supports both joysticks on my gamepad... albeit not very well.

Clearly Snes9x for movie recording, and ZSNES for general or online playing.

The Gens 9z and VBA are my favourites. Years ago I always used the Famicommunist, which was a great emulator for general playing as far as I remember.

For TASing I started out with SNES9x and quickly got used to it because i thought it was easy to configure but aren't they all easy? FCEU is a very good one too. For regular play, any emu will work for me but I just love to bring back good old NES memories with FCEU. I started TASing with GENS9z last month and it seems to be quite good also. VBA seems to be great too but i say it's all about what you are used to play with and feel comfortable playing with. Once you know every option features on an emulator you feel good playing it i guess. But anyways snes9x rules them all........ IMO :)

My favorite for both tasing and playing is VBA. ZSNES is next one and pretty close, but stil VBA is the best ^^ all the rest emulators don't even have basic ability of rewinding ^^

My favorite for TASing and playing is FCEU, mostly due to the simple menus. The tools available in VBA are probably great, but I don't use them very much; the only thing I really have against it is that the movie recording and playback options aren't in the File menu. I guess that's an effect of using FCEU first. I've used Mupen64 and Project64 quite a bit, mostly for playing OoT and MM. I don't really have a preference between them at this point, but N64 emulation still has some ways to go.

NES: Favorites: FCEU - Recording good AVIs beats other emulators. JNester - Decent if you can't get FCEU. NNNesterJ - Decent AVI recording. Least-Favorites: The DOS emulators - They should be called "Screw the guys with XP". (XP and DOS does NOT work good) Genesis: Favorites: Kega - If only it had AVI recording... Least-Favorites: The DOS emulators - Read above. Gens - Ungh, lag all around.

I like FCEU 0.98.15, or FCEU 0.98.16 for NES. I like Snes9x 1.43 Improvement 9, and ZSNES 1.53 for SNES. I like Mupen64 Version 8 Rerecord for N64.

I generally find VBA the most friendly overall, but since the roms are so hard to find I'll have to go with GENS.
