Bimmy & Jimmy Lee at it again in Double Dragon 2, 2 player, MODE B!
This movie is intended to obsolete Phil's 2 player movie. It is 30.3 seconds (1880 frames) faster and attempts to be more entertaining while aiming for the fastest possible time.
Mode B vs Mode A
I used mode b to play this run. Mode b allows the two players to damage each other. This allows for some creative shortcuts by using the flying knee attack on each other. This accounts for several seconds of improvement time. The rest comes from improved fighting strategies and death shortcuts.
Entertainment vs Speed
I attempt the fastest possible time. The conventional wisdom until now is that this would require too many flying knee attacks and would be more boring. Mode B helps prove this false. With the players attacking each other as well, there is plenty of action on the screen. Also, I do other attacks whenever it doesn't costs any frames. So this run is the best of both worlds; entertaining as possible while still completing the game as fast as possible.
Obsoletion
While it could be argued that it should be published along side the other two double dragon 2 movies, I think it should obsolete both.
a) Strategically, this is the same run as the 2-player mode a run except for the occasional shortcuts. Having both would be redundant. Also this run is faster than a mode a run, and more entertaining.
b) The one player run differed from Phil's because it aimed for fastest time and used the flying knee as much as possible. It is no longer the fastest run (it is the slowestof the 3). It is also the least entertaining. Also, this run uses the flying knee as much as the 1 player run. There is nothing that a 1 player run offers that is not represented in a 2 player mode b one.
Summary
Uses FCEU .16 with macro & multitracking patch
Plays on hardest difficulty level
Aims for fastest possible time
1 Player controls 2 characters
Manipulates luck
Takes damage to save time
Uses death as a shortcut
Thanks
Phil, for his 2 player movie
Qbob, for his 1 player movie
JXQ for watching WIPs and encouraging me
Cardboard for informing me that Bimmy's name was unintentionaly misspelled as "Billy" in Double Dragon 1 & 2.
Enjoy.
Truncated: Accepted for publication. My recommendation after checking the old runs is that this movie obsoletes both of them: It is a faster 2-player movie not only because it uses more knees, but also more tricks and death shortcuts. The 1-player movie does not offer anything special compared to this movie, and is also a whole minute slower.

Hey he did that on purpose, that is my idea. Just take a look at The Accidental Videogame Porn Archive. (double dragon 2 screenshot sent by me over an year ago)
oh wait, truncated, that screenshot isn't from his movie :P i was wondering why would he do that, since it'd be slow as hell.
Aims for fastest possible time Not true
Takes damage to save time And also takes damage to loses time
Uses death as a shortcut One unnecessary Death.
Btw, instead of that unnecessary death, are you sure there's no other places that death can be useful?
No because nowadays, even if I say the movie is bad and vote no. It will be still published. And Bisqwit and some other judges can't help since they don't like that game at all.
Anyway, without an example your point is rather moot. Saying this run has errors without naming them is like saying nothing at all. Nothing useful, that is.
And it also doesn't help anything.

If he plans on obsoleting this movie, that wouldn't be a good idea.
Fair enough, but if he does, I'm quoting your post from Circus Charlie and pasting it in that thread.
Phil, I just meant that adelikat is more than likely to redo the run if there is a legitimate mistake in it that is shown to him. You having good knowledge of the game puts you in a position where you could help improve the quality of the run (by finding and/or discussing those mistakes).

More exciting than any other DD video, I suppose. I sometimes wonder why this series is popular.
Just novelty, really; it was the first sidescrolling beat-em-up to gather much notice.
Plus, there's a bunch of games in the series along with the cartoon and movie. Most of this wasn't very good, of course, but it made the franchise a part of our dumb nostalgia.
but then you take my 75 perchance chance of winning, if we was to go one-on-one, and then add 66 and two-thirds ch...percents...i got a 141 and two-thirds chance of winning at sacrifice
A 2 player cooperative game on Nes. Gives me one title that is better? Ballon kid? meh that sucks. Battletank, meh that sucks. Nightamre on elm street. Come on they all suck. Double Dragon 2 was cool and well designed for its er
Xebra: I also wonder why MegaMan serie is so popular. They are all the same game. But I don't annoy Bisqwit and other authors in their submission thread.
I usually don't find beat-em-up games to make interesting TAS's, but this breaks the mold enough to avoid repetition for me. Plus, beating the crap out of the other player always makes for an enjoyable time (see Battletoads) :D

AIMS for fastest time means that is my goal. If it is improvable, it does not invalidate this claim.
Takes damage to save time And also takes damage to loses time
Perhaps it appears that way, but there are no spots were taking damage costs time.

There are no other spots where this is useful.
It was mentioned that I should use attacks to save time in the lv6 platforms. Unfortunately, attacks can not be used to take vertical shortcuts. If you hit a player in the air and on to a platform, they will fall through it unless they could have jumped there on their own. It is an unfortunate oddity in this game.
Also, had I got one player up there, I still would have had to get the other player there too. So it would be able to save time.

JXQ: I think Phil plans on improving this by more than 1 frame.
At what point do we not simply tell them where the mistake was and start doing the work ourselves?
Saying that you shouldn't tell someone where their mistakes were so that they themselves can obsolete it is accepting that popularity counts around here. Do you really think it's ok to hinder the improvement of a submission just so that someone else can get their name out there? I, for one, hate the idea that some people would be so bold as to hold out on others just so that they can get the credit for something.
I don't see what's wrong with not telling someone their mistakes if you plan on improving the movie yourself. You're not hindering anything if you submit an improved movie yourself. He is the one that came up with the improvements so he has the right to use them.
Imo, it's better than paf, submitted a run that is faster without telling anyone which is hypocrite. At least, I give you a chance to restudy the video and improve it. Better than nothing. If I wouldn't notice those errors, I guess I wouldn't care as much as now.
Edit: The problem is that. yes, indeed I could show you where but would require me to do some parts to show you where, why and how. And while doing it, I prefer doing it myself.
The last time I tried to explain some errors in your Gradius run, you almost laugh at my face.
