Squall I don't know if you care, but I'm recording your run, so I could be able to upload it to youtube, or share it on bittorrent. I hope it will help some people :P

the blocks only lead to the top door, not the top right one.

I just checked myself and you can make it. There is one difficult jump (the jump from near the top door to the next block on the right) which requires you to make a specific type of jump. First position yourself like this: jump up in the air while facing right, in the air face left and land on the very right edge of the platform. From here when you first turn around, you will drop a tiny bit downwards before you start falling. You can still jump during this tiny drop even though you are standing on air. This way you get to jump from a lower position than the platform actually allows. Sorry if I was unclear but this is the best explanation I can give. Good luck! EDIT: I just checked and you can make it even without the hi-jump boots.

why? anyone trying to play this hack will have the rom and can watch the movie. anyone else will not be interested in the video. so, I think it's a bad idea to upload it. In the end, it'll only do harm as some youtube viewers will associate "TAS" with "incredibly sloppy gameplay".

actually there won't be the keyword tas, but anyway I think that I won't upload it to youtube, it'll encode on copy for myself, and maybe a lot quality one as a reference for ppl that find Mplayer Winamp or Media PLayer to be better than loading the movie. Anyway I'll see the ppl that will be interested. any I encode a copy for me first ;) EDIT : and it's also a test of encoding ;)

Well. Playing all of these Hacks lately, has talked me into trying out this hack. Which rom version do I patch, [U] [!]? EDIT: Decided to just hack the [JU] [!] version. :3

Grr. I just CAN'T get passed the space station. If I had five more seconds I could easily do it... EDIT: Wow. .08 of a second. Barely made it. ;3 Now I'll be able to take things in stride hopefully. If I can manage to beat this hack, or any of the others for that matter, TASing should be a cinch, right? ^^

zexr0, that video will help me greatly. i cannot figure out how to get into the area above the speed blocks in the room after botwoon. (the reason i can't watch the smv is that i can't open .rar files for some reason, though it's more convenient to have a video file anyway.)

No problem for me, might be easier for people to find the right place, so they dont have to turbo trough the whole video on emulator.

Yeah, well, It's kinda big, I need to encode this, it will surely be in a poor quality, but I don't think it's not for viewer pleasure more than a Walkthrough. Anyway I will encore it now. I'll see what I can do.

You can refill your health on his goo balls. Certainly a good thing to do.

With savestates and slowdown, duh. This site by itself is an answer to that question. ;)

I finish to encode the 12 parts of the video, I only need to find a way to setup a torrent, and I'll be seeding it soon. It's 404 megs for the 12 parts, no sound, and in low quality, it's 5:49:37 for the 12 parts. I'll look tomorow to setup a torrent, or to post it to a big storage website. If you have any idea on which method is best, please tell me.

the thing is, i'm doing this without savestates and slowdown. you see, at least for me, cheating takes all (well, most) the fun out of it. now, i'm wondering whether it's humanly possible to do this. i think it is; i just need a really good (and probably complicated) strategy and a lot of practise. i'll probably work on it tomorrow, though ideas are appreciated. by the way, as of the save room, i have 7 energy tanks, 1 reserve tank, and 40/15/5 missiles/etc., and of course the space boots. is it possible to get anything else before draygon? (i finally got that smv and got it to work, so i'm not interested in the video anymore.)

Hardly. AFAIR, I did it in roughly the same conditions. Also note, that Saturn himself said he made sure it was possible to do everything in realtime, but he couldn't beat his own hack without savestate abuse. Cheating takes the fun out of it — well, that's alright. If it's more funny to restart the battle from the nearest save point, it's your call. I told you how I — and pretty much everyone else — did it, and it's also the most obvious way to do it. I hope you aren't going to tell me that you managed to beat both Phantoon and Botwoon with their randomness without a single savestate?

What's the deal with mother brain? After I drained her health, she zaps me so I can't move, then zaps me again. 370 energy + 4 full tanks. I get another shot with the blue circles, leaving me at 400 energy with empty tanks. next shot, I'm dead. Where's that fucking son-of-a-metroid when you need him? how do I avoid this? crystal flash during the zapping, de-equipping suits to change her calculations, emptying my energy tanks, getting my energy to a certain value, or what?

Any plans of submitting this hack to romhacking.net?

I did this without slowdown but it's highly unlikely that anyone could do this without save states. I can imagine beating draygon and the other bosses without states but Golden Torizo and Ridley are just impossible. You'll just burn yourself out even trying.

yep. why do you think it took me until yesterday to reach draygon? actually, phantoon took more practise than luck. i probably could easily beat them (phantoon) again, but i havent figured how to reliably beat botwoon yet.
