some glitchs lose a few frames, but i bilieve it's worth. those glitchs let the speed-run full of fun. such as "shadow rockman(magne hyaskulegger stage) , strike chain through the wall(sonic ostreague stage) , boss comes until you get rid of right or left(re-sonic ostreague)"those tricks just for fun. althrough they are slower than FractalFusion's run,i love.
other was useful tricks,"underneath grabbing of overhang conrners , strike chain catch the wall still can keep the fall speed fast(flame,gator,bubble...etc stage) , when boss died that you should stand on the highest(intro, gator, sonic, sigma castle 1,sigma castle 2,sigma castle 3)".
the other tricks i am not sure which one is fast,"go down with jumping jumping jumping at the third ladder in metamor mothmenos stage".
stage notice:
  • in bubble crab stage should avoid lag in the sea(x collet buster is one of the reasons and screen moveing when falling).
  • in magne hyaskulegger stage.you dash when the tiles drop in,don't make the dust.it will easy lag.
  • in serges stage.bubble can let your up speed more faster, but it will easy cause lag.and many area you can't use strike chain and speed burner
  • in vs zero stage.i even made a mistake that use the 昇龍拳 to close zero before FractalFusion has remind me.luckily i found used the 昇龍拳 at the very end that sigma still come fast(but still lose a few frames),it's worth that you can beat zero more faster.

Hey, parrot14green... you don't need to cancel your run and submit another. Just send a PM to Bisqwit about it and he'll help you out. And you don't need to go to the VERY end of the game... Just keep recording the movie while it's required to press a button to advance the text in the screen. Whatever comes after that, (even if it's part of the ending) is none of your business.. =D It's a great run and I'll vote YES once more!

Maybe someone could just go ahead and stop the movie at the right time for him and Bisq could then replace the file in the submission?

Hot damn, this was good. adjusted version, finishes at the last frame of text. Final time: 31:51, 114635 frames. For reference, this movie actually works on Rockman X 2 (J).smc, as the only difference between this and the other is the fact its overdumped. Both contain the sprite error on the bike though. I loved how you beat some of the bosses, such as using the black hole on Cristar Mymine, I totally didn't expect that. "shadow rockman" was cool too against the Magne Hyakulegger miniboss, did that make you invulnerable to his shots or was that just your close proximity to him? Either way, total yes vote. edit: just wondering, how much time do you think is saved just by the version change? Just curious, although I doubt its too much.

The movie must be as short as possible but we must be able to reach the credits without pressing anything. When Sigma says "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!" for the last time, get rid of it, and stop the run. Just give it to Bisqwit. Edit:

Disclaimer and notes: I am not infallible, I may have made some mistakes but overall I think they're correct to within 1 frame. Numbers marked with (?) may be subject to a higher degree of error. I skipped measuring Agile getting punched due to difficulty measuring the start point, and I should hope the equal. Some non-playable but time-affecting numbers (such as Flame Stag's supposed death delay if he's in the air when he dies, post-death lag, stage select speed, etc) are not noted. This post is intended to try to separate superior playing from a ROM change.

Close proximity. The shadow rockman is a graphic glitch.

This is an excellent run, so I will vote yes after the smv is fixed. I really would have preferred the Japanese rom not be used, as it makes comparisons between the published run very difficult. The Japanese text seems to scroll faster. Dehacked says the run is ~15 seconds faster than the published run which is great, but according to this fractalfusion's new wip run is already 22 seconds ahead of the published run and he isn't even halfway though it yet. Does this time difference mean parrot14gree's run isn't optimized? It sure looks perfect, but I'm no expert. why then is fractal's wip so much faster?

It's because the run that Graveworm and I are working on is a secret project. It is not required for a person to use strategies that have not been made public yet. Which is why the submission is reasonable. I might have revealed something if I had known that parrot14green was serious about beating the published run. I did not think so before now.

FractalFusion, did parrot14green come up with anything interesting you can use to further optimize your own run? Also, I really liked the Japanese ROM. Reading the text of the "story" is completely worthless to me, I simply don't care what they have to say, and the Japanese boss names are really funny!

Not to be outdone by DeHackEd, I've prepared my own table with which to compare this run and the existing run.
Boss names in:

   Megaman X2 Rockman X2
---------------- ----------------
 Wire Sponge Wire Hetimarl
 Wheel Gator Wheel Alligates
 Flame Stag Flame Stagger
 Bubble Crab Bubbly Crablos
 Magna Centipede Magna Hyakulegger
 Crystal Snail Cristar Mymine
 Overdrive Ostrich Sonic Ostreague
 Morph Moth Metamor Mothmenos

There were a few things that parrot14green did that were novel. The Flame Stag fight was done faster. Method here was to do 5 damage (X-Buster Level 5) at the beginning, and 5 damage later, instead of the 4 damage (X-Buster corkscrew shot) only. I can't go back and change it without changing a lot. The trick of using Speed Burner and grabbing the overhang from underneath is something I like.

I'm not sure what is being asked, if you intended to ask a question.

It's very interesting how the Japanese versions of Megaman games refuse to use legitimate Japanese names and use English or English-like words as names.

Just a friendly reminder to you FractalFusion, use Strike Chain and Speed Burner as much as possible. I saw a lot of places in this submission where the author could have used especially Strike Chain more.

From my experience, when P.Jboy says "doable shot", he usually means "double shot". And yes, I have already asked him to stop making that mistake. >_<

Well, if P.JBoy means the double shot from the X-Buster upgrade (pink), yes, I can do that but sometimes I lose the first shot (by regaining control without holding Y) so I can do 4 damage faster. parrot14green found a faster way - do 5 damage.

The rom I used has a messed up bike in the desert level (wrong tiles on it) and proceded to crash the emulator soon after riding it, I assume this is the wrong rom? The filename of the rom had the J and the o1 in it. Why was such a goofy rom chosen? Isn't there a good dump of J?

First, I learn stuff during the run. I don't know everything at the beginning. Second, I kept the run secret because Graveworm and I wanted to increase run impressiveness (i.e. WIPs spoil the run). Also, I probably wouldn't benefit from any recommendations, and no one else was working on it (or so I thought).

The bike has glitched graphics regardless of the ROM used. About crashing the emulator, I don't know.
