I remember using a Game Genie to walk on the Zeal map. Obviously, those islands were just for show. Edit: I see. The WIP version works; sorry to disturb anyone. Top post? Or do we not care about such things here?

I haven't really been following this thread so I don't know if this has been discussed, but why do you go through the entire factory when you are in 2300 AD the first time? I remember you saying that the machine won't allow you to insert any password before you have gotten it, but this isn't true at least for the version I have. Is it different for the japanese version?

I don't remember if I already said this (long thread and all), but if it turns out that the Japanese version really does force you to do things that the English version doesn't, then maybe the text speed won't make up for the lost time, and you should consider switching. To me it seems doubtful, though. I would expect the programmers to add more requirements for experiencing the game properly into a foreign version rather than take some away.

Actually.. I don't think the problem lies in the difference between the Japanese and English versions of the game, it's much more likely the fact that the console version I've been playing all this time and have been basing some of my decisions on is a newer version than the Japanese version of the game and the English version most of you have been playing, which might have had some bugs in the programming fixed (sort of like the bugs fixed in version 1.1 of FF6). I have been going back over through the game when someone brings up some flag loophole I've missed, and usually I found out they were right, even though at the time I was recording I was 100% sure this was not the case.

No, Japanese version doesn't force you to do going thru factory to get password, I used Tilus trial run and stopped Tilus's trial run before he enter the factory and play on my own. When I was playing, I skip the right elevator, and go left elevator instead and entered X A B Y password on conputer, the door opened. Try it for yourself if you don't believe me.

Here's something else I was wondering: at Lab 16 (the first lab) in the first screen with the ghost enemies (the ones that can't be hurt by physical attacks) you decide to take the lower route which means killing two sets of ghosts. Did you know that you can go around these ghosts? You don't have to fight the mutant in the middle or the two sets of ghosts at the bottom of the screen, you can just walk past the mutant with the correct route. It might of course just be that you need the exp but I was just wondering...

Nope, I realized that I can go the other way and avoid those enemies.. I brought that up way back when I released the second update. I guess I need to put together a very large list of things I need to improve on so far, so that people won't have to search through 7 pages of discussion on the game and that I'll have less repeat questions.. until then, could we please limit questions to the section of the movie updated in the last update (between Magus's castle and the Ocean Palace)?

No comments, huh? I guess that means I finally know more about Chrono Trigger than the entire rest of the board combined XD *runs away quickly* Anyways, free time coming up soon, so I'll be going back to work on the movie. Though, I did take some time to think things through over on what I've done so far, and it looks like I may be able to cut enough off to save 30 minutes on my current time or more.. I'll have to see on my second pass how aggressive I can get on timesavers. Now, back to the Ocean Palace I go, on my *third* attempt through..

Off the top of my head, I can remember the following: - You can only get one of either Swallow Sword or Safe Helm from the Nu in the sealed pyramid - You lose the Blade/Hilt/Dreamstone when you forge together the Masamune the first time - I'm not certain if the Masamune has two instances in the item list (one for the regular version, and one for the upgraded version you get after the Northern Ruins), but if they do, you can only have one of them at a time. - To get the Sun Shades/Rainbow/Wondershot, you have to go through the whole Moon Stone quest, which means losing the Moon Stone So, that makes a total of six items that you can't keep while going through one trip of the game. Add that to the number of items dummied out, and subtract the total from 256 to get the maximum number of items you can keep in the game. There may be more, I may not have remembered them yet.

I believe there was also a place where you had to decide between the Prism dress, or Three Prism helms. The Prism dress provides a much-needed shell effect, (cut's magic damage by 1/3) as well as the highest defense in the game. Both items can be charmed off of the Final Zeal boss. The prism helm "locks status", whatever that means, and boasts the highest defense in the game. The safe helm defends better, though, because of its permanent safe effect. (cuts physical damage by 1/3) I'd rather use the haste helm, though, because double speed is likely going to be far better in a speed run. But other than deciding between two or more items, there is no inventory limit. At least none in the normal course of the game (dunno about quest specific items) Chrono trigger keeps track of every item you can get, up to 99 of each.

And you keep your items with a New Game+ I found this out when I found out I had around 80 tabs lying around my 10th or so time through. ^_^

Yeah, you do keep your items in a New Game +, but you don't keep your gold, which I thought was wierd. Oh, well, it's easily remedied by loading up on expensive equipment, and simply selling it in the next game. There are a few items that are lost between games, but I don't know which ones they are. Two items that come to mind are the Masamune, and Magus' amulet. You don't need to worry about quest specific items, since you can get them every game. The only items you need to worry about are the "one or the other" choices. Since this is a single run, you'll have to choose which items you can live without.

Sorry for the lack of progress as of late.. I got all the way up to the fight with Lavos and was looking over ways to defeat him when school started picking up and I wound up with a lot of schoolwork to do over the last few weeks. However, things seem to be slowing down again, and spring break is about to start, so I should be picking up once again soon.

What does 100% include? Should I take it to mean getting 99 of every item or something like that?

I think it's more like at least 1 of every type of item, excluding the few where you're only allowed one or the other, and getting all the magic tabs and such. And maybe not every type of purchaseable item.
I like my "thank you"s in monetary form.

Oh, see, I could go nuts and say that 100% requires over a hundred plays using New Game+ so that not only do you complete every quest, but you level up every character to the maximum and add as many tabs as possible, get 99 of every item that you can, get as many as you can of items that don't transfer over, max out your money, get all the clones and Poyozos for all the characters and as many cats as possible from the fair games, max out your silver points, play the Black Omen from the future back so you beat it as many times as possible, and activate or complete any other secret I haven't thought of, I guess. IS SATURN UP TO THE TASK???

Unfortunately, the rules here state that a game can't be resumed from a save point for a movie, and NG+ equals that. So, even if Saturn was insane enough to do all that, it wouldn't be accepted. What would be nice to see for a 100% run, though, is seeing all forms of Spekkio defeated, from the little frog, all the way to the red Nu. HEY, PUNK! ARE YOU TOUGH E NUFF?!?!

It's pink. And you forgot about getting all of the endings.
