The first time I went to the SNES movies page, it had the average ratings (or "not yet rated"), but no link. Refreshing the page seemed to fix this problem, whatever it was.

I was wondering too, where the vote link was. I followed Bisqwit's first post but just vote results could be seen in the movies list.

nowhere was it mentionned that login was necessary. actually, like most visitors, I never log(ged) to visit the site, outside the forums. And I was wondering what good it was for (if you're neither an editor, nor a player with a projects page).
maybe could it be added somewhere, on the results list ("please login to rate those movies" for instance).
I can clearly see now the advantage of the login system. without it, votes could have become a total mess, heavily abused, etc.

Note, however, that if the rating system changes too much, the current votes might get obsoleted and a revoting would be needed. We have to consider everything.

It would be interesting to have a "were you familiar with this game?" question, and a way to separately see the ratings given by the two groups. Sorting by the difference between the two ratings would order movies from those requiring in-depth knowledge of the game, to those that are universally equally appealing.
Also, I don't know if this was already planned, but it should be possible to sort by individual rating categories rather than by the averaged rating. Technical excellence and entertainment value will probably each give a much different order.

As far as I can tell, the end rating is ~66% based on the entertainment factor and ~33% on technical factor. That way movie which are perfectly executed (9—10 on perfection) but not very interesting to watch don't get too high rating, which is good.

You can see both averages on the rating page. Why would you need to see it on the movie page? I think the way it is is fine. I want to see a solid number that is easy to compare. If I'm interested further, I'll check the rating page.

You can add maxage... but no other kind of amount limit is currently implemented.
Seems that lurkers can rate a movie. I think lurkers shouldn't be allowed to rate movies, like they aren't allowed to vote for new movies. Although I'm a lurker myself, I think it would decrease abusement, and it would keep the ratings more reasonable.

Done. To some extent. All users still have voting access, but it uses an influence system, that is governed by the number of posts, the privileges of the users, and the rank of the user on the forums.
All users, who can rate movies, have at least some influence.
The ratings are dynamically calculated, so changes to the aforementioned aspects of one's profile do not require going and rating the movies again.
In other words, you can rate movies as a lurker, and as you become a more established member in the passage of weeks, your ratings will also gain power automatically.
The exact formula of the influence system is kept secret for now, but you can get an idea of your own influence at the rating page in the statistics that are shown in between of the rated and non-rated movies.

We have, however, planned on adding some top-10 lists to the moviestatistics page: Top-10 average score, top-10 technical score and top-10 entertainment score (and more if more categories are added).
Personally I'm not sure if adding top-10 lowest scores would be a good idea. For sake of completeness they could be there, but they could be rather depressing to the authors and I don't like the idea of rubbing their wounds like that.

Chances are, the bottom 10 movies could be a 'this is what you should avoid' to all future submitters.
I must say that I really like how I can qualify how my opinion compares to others on these runs, but it also confuses me how some people can like game Y over game X, and vice versa. Internet, why can't you just agree with me?
